Hello! I did some work and managed to change up the layout here! Hopefully it's a little easier on the eyes, but if you have any issues or problems with it, please let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix it.
I mimicked the LJ setup as much as I could, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Also, it's been a while, so if anyone wants to make up a new banner for the banner rotation, please let me know. It just needs to be 780px by 200px in size.

Hello! Just so no one is shocked here, I wanted to announce that there is finally going to be an import of content from the LJ Hetalia community to this one. Due to the change in TOS at LJ, it seemed like backing up the community here would be beneficial. Of course due to the TOS change, many people are importing their journals to DW, so there is a long queue to go through before the everything is copied. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

In addition to this, kylara made me a mod here. I also made fh14 a mod to help out, as we'll probably have to go through and fix tags and stuff.

I think that's it for now until the import goes through. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

It was brought to my attention that my Community/RP Masterlists were way outdated. I had honestly been thinking about removing them for a while. I just don't have the time to maintain them like I used to. I went ahead and removed them from Hetarchive. I apologize for any inconvenience, and please let me know if there's any info from them that's needed, I do still have back ups.

That said, it would be nice to have a current community list. I know Hetalia Archives has one for Hetalia specific tumblr blogs, but of course that's just tumblr. I'm open to suggestions on setting up a new masterlist, it's just that I can't handle running it. Maybe a tumblr blog that could accept user submissions would be good if a decent tag system was set up?

Anyway, I again apologize for having let the old list slip away. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Hello members!

I've received a couple messages lately regarding the community. I understand that some discussion is going on at the LJ [livejournal.com profile] hetalia community regarding a possible move to DreamWidth and merging the two communities, and I've received a kind request from a maintainer there that the LJ mods get involved in this community for that purpose. This is something I would like to discuss with our memberbase here before making such a big decision.

While I still read Hetalia fic and doujinshi, and I'm available to sort out any bad behavior that's reported (which has never happened, so I trust you're all being wonderful!), I admit that I haven't kept up with recent events in canon or fandom. Every community deserves a more attentive touch. Having the LJ maintainers get involved here seems like a good way to provide that. And if they were to get involved, then I would essentially be passing the community over to them.

So this is an open discussion post in regards to facilitating a move here and in having the LJ maintainers become maintainers here. If you have any feelings or input, please leave a comment on this post or PM me. I will appreciate your opinions. For PMs, I will respect your anonymity. I look forward to hearing from you!

On a less intense note, tags! I've been informed that we could use some new ones. See our current tags here. Please request needed tags on this post, and it would be a big help if you included the prefix!

So now you'll see we have a pinned post with Hetalia related links. It's still liable to change, but I figure this was a good start. The top sites with the banners are the best places to find info/updates/scanlations.

Hello! I wanted to let everyone know that myself and [livejournal.com profile] pbjsammich are now moderators for the comm. Along with [livejournal.com profile] tarafishes we'll try to keep a watch on things and take care of any sneaky spam comments. If you need assistance with anything, please let us know!

Just curious... )

Yo! Me again with an update or two and a reminder, and something--not new, but redone!

Read more! Or just read the tl;dr at the bottom. )

IN SUMMARY: A reminder to read the rules!
New tags! (View the taglist here!)
A new FAQ is in process, so please leave questions in this post!
There is a possibility we will change the preview image rule a little. However, the 300x300 rule applies to all preview images(including community or RP group advertisements.) I didn't realize it applied to RP group ones so, from now on, I'll be enforcing this.

I believe that's all for now and, if not, I'll be sure to edit the post! Thank you for reading and your questions and comments, and all of your participation!

Hello, me again! [livejournal.com profile] mad_kitty12 brought up a good point to me just a little while ago--[livejournal.com profile] aph_request, an extension of this community, was made and run by the original mod for this place. However, as you all know, we haven't exactly heard from her recently and from my knowledge no one's been able to contact her?

Regardless, the fact still remains that APH Request is, as it's technically part of this community, an extension of the Hetalia main English comm. Because the original mod, [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima is MIA, we may as well declare ourselves responsible for it? Or, me and the other mods, I mean, however I've yet to bring this up with them.

However, because I'd prefer a re-centeralization of the community(as I don't see why we need to split every tiny little thing into subsects when everything could be done here,) I request that any inquiries that would normally go to [livejournal.com profile] aph_request be brought to the main community, instead, and [livejournal.com profile] aph_request considered closed until further notice(aka, when we hear from [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima!)

If anyone else has any problems, feel free to contact me somehow, especially through my journal! I'm on just about all the time and, if I'm not on at the time you make an inquiry, I'll get to it as soon as I can.

And, yes, I will also make an (unofficial-ish) mod post for those at [livejournal.com profile] aph_request just in case they aren't all here as well!

Hello! [livejournal.com profile] wiccat appointed me as one of the new mods, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Tara--I used to(and should really update this) post the wmv raws for people who only had WMM to make AMVs with. I'm around, oh, all day for the most part, Saturday being the exception. Never around on Saturdays.

Now onto the important thing: LJ's automatically queuing entries. As I think some of you are aware, for some reason, LJ will automatically queue an entry that has too many(or any, at times!?) links in it! This is not our fault. This is LJ's doing--please don't be mad at us!
It's especially LJ's fault because it apparently won't notify any moderators that things are now in the queue as the settings for moderated postings are off. But don't worry! I'll check the queue every day(if you need me to check it sooner, let me know) and make sure everything goes through. For now, I don't know any workarounds, and for that I apologize. I'll try and look into it.

Now then! In about half an hour or so, I'll be going through the moderation queue and reposting everything in there that hasn't made it through! (Th--the oldest thing in there is from February. . . .) I'm so sorry that some posts will be late because of this. Moderation queue has been cleaned. If your post didn't make it, please check your notifications or emails to say why! It's probably because it was outdated or you managed to post it some other way, so no need to worry too much.

Thank you for complying and please accept my apologies. I'll be going through each entry to ensure that it's not outdated or anything of the sort. If you remember you posted an entry and it didn't go through and you've decided you don't want it going through(or you reposted it and it got through and you'd like to make it easier for me,) please let me know and I'll reject it.

Thank you very much! I'll try and take good care of the comm from now on!

I got sick of seeing that big empty space at the top of the page, so I stuck something on there. Unfortunately, I'm not very good with graphics. Our web page designer banner person up and disappeared, and the banner site is down... So I guess if anyone wants to submit banners for our community (no fanart please, just official pics), PM them to me and I'll randomly rotate them every now and then. Or I might use a randomizer thing. But that'll have to wait until the next time I procrastinate on homework. I thought about redoing the layout and stuff too, but I'm really pushing getting my research paper done this time as is.

Oh, and those who want to make banners apparently the size is 780 x 200.

Hello everyone! I have a lot of homework due, so you know what that means... procrastination!

You might notice that I have continued rearranging the tags like I had originally started out to do, as well as add in a couple new ones. Hopefully this will make them a little easier to navigate, and make it clearer which tag(s) you should be using. Please don't use the ones marked "x do not use" for they will slowly be dissolved as I go through them and sort them into their new appropriate tags.

That said, does anyone know if there's a way to combine two tags into one?

And if anyone has suggestions for how to improve the tagging system, please let me know o/

Also, please note that the "fan: coloring" tag is for fan... colorings. Like, coloring official artwork. Not fanart in color.

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] heeroluva at "Suspicious comments" and "Spam comments": LJ decision to 'block' spam is a big FAIL!
So I've been noticing in both my own journal and communities that I haven't been able to see some comments even thought it says there are more comments there than are actually showing up. Instead I'm getting a place holder that says (Spam comment) or (Suspicious comment).

Why are these showing up like this you may ask? In their rush to fight spam LJ has created a new filter that're AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON in ALL journals and communities, which screens comments that are made with 'suspicious links' ie links that are not on their safe whitelist, so pretty much the majority of the internet. There is no noted way to add to the 'whitelist'.

What really gets me is that they didn't inform people that they were doing this until a week after it was done and that it was automatically turned on.

So how do I turn it off you might ask.

That's simple. Go to your Settings, click on the Privacy tab, and half way down where it says Spam Protection uncheck the box next to "Comments containing a link to a non-whitelisted domain will be marked as spam and moved to a special section." This applies to both personal journal and communities and the opinion has to be manually changed in each one.

While I understand how this could be a good idea, I think they went about it in a very backhanded way, and have implemented it poorly. There was no message to anyone that the link has been screened. It's automatically done. This went on for over a week before they said anything about it. There is still nothing in the FAQs about it even. The only way I found out about this way going through the support pages where people were reporting similar issues.

Please share this!

ETA: This links really illustrates the problems.

If you have noticed this problem with your comments in this community, please let me know and I'll unscreen your comments. I have changed the settings.

Thank you! ♥

It had recently been brought to my attention that there have been some comments in regards to the Christmas event that have been way out of line. The artist is a real person. He is not a drawing machine to cater to your demands. He has a family and personal needs. Making comments about wanting to rape him or cause any bodily harm to him if he doesn't update soon is NOT okay. I understand if you are excited or impatient for updates, but please try to behave maturely. You never know who is reading your comments, would you really want something negative like this catching his attention?

Please just settle down and enjoy the story as it unfolds. I want everyone to enjoy these new strips, but any further inappropriate comments will be dealt with by a lockdown of the post and deletion of the comments.

To the [livejournal.com profile] hetalia Community Members:

As some of you may know from this post, the "new characters" Luxembourg, Portugal, Malaysia and Indonesia are not new characters but instead just sketches of people Himaruya have met from said nations.

Therefore, the character tags that were recently made for the supposed new nations will be deleted in twelve (12) hours from now. That will be 13:00 Japanese Standard time. To see what time it will be for you, please click here.

Please find the posts you have made using those tags and move them to the [livejournal.com profile] nationslash community. If you have any questions, feel free to PM the moderator team.

Dear community,

It has been brought to the mod team's attention that there have been a few heated discussions going on recently.

We would like to ask you to remember that as of now, our community has 31631 members, and in a community this large, one is bound to come across others who disagree with one’s opinion. This means discussions and arguments are prone to happen.

It's all right; however, responding to an argument with spamming, inflammatory GIFs or macros and deliberate efforts to provoke further fights, and rudeness will not be accepted, and any threads displaying them will be frozen or, depending on the severity of the behaviour, deleted.
[identity profile] wiccat.livejournal.com
Hello members! Due to the recent amount of spam posts, I'm putting the community under moderated posting until further notice. So if your post doesn't show up right away, don't fret! The mods are probably just temporarily away from the computer and your posts will go through when they return. I'll personally be taking time to check every few hours to make sure there's no backup clog. Sorry for the trouble!
[identity profile] wiccat.livejournal.com
This thread will be for people looking for one-on-one RPs and will be linked on the info page. Or you may go to [livejournal.com profile] hetalia_connect. Any new posts for one-on-one RPs will be deleted. Hopefully, this will lighten the post load that's been a problem lately. /crosses fingers!

Please use this format for submitting RP requests.

Hello community members! First off, apologies for not being on top of the recent flood of activity that have seemingly been upsetting everyone. The mods have been busy (I, myself, am doing last minute cosplay stuff for Anime Expo) and we're waiting on two new mods to join our team. Second, instead of having a gif party, please bring any issues to the mods. I have heard secondhand about concerns over the several RP ads and have planned to address that with perhaps a regularly updated post dedicated to people looking for RP partners. Any input on this idea would be fabulous.

In an attempt to prevent a flood of posts, the mods would like to ask everyone to PLEASE try and limit to posting once per day. There is no need to make separate posts for each different chapter of your fic (barring the text limit restriction). You can also edit your post if you would like to add something new, instead of making a completely new post. We would like you guys to have freedom to post, so we won't make a strict one-post-limit-per-person-per-day rule, but if it gets too ridiculous, we will delete extra posts. We also ask that advertisement or reminder posts be spaced at least a week apart.

Now, about those discussion posts. Here are some options:
-First, putting limits on topics allowed. Such as only allowing discussions related to the anime or strips themselves, and no "what would" questions.
-Second, getting rid of the discussions tag completely and taking all discussions to a separate community.
-Third option is having moderated discussion posts once every few days, where a mod will post and discussions will take place under the post.
-Fourth... leave things the way they are and just scroll past whatever you don't want to read.

Since it is you guys, the community members, who are participating and reading these discussion posts, it's only fair to hear your opinions on these suggestions. Due to time/schedule restraints, the mods won't be able to respond to the comments you post here, but we will look them over and discuss it with the team. Thanks for your time.
[identity profile] wiccat.livejournal.com
Okay, I may have gone a little overboard this time... So I went on another one of my insane organization binges to avoid doing homework, because the other day I was trying to find subbed episodes and had to wade through a bunch of stuff. This time I separated the "anime" tag into the following:

Anime: Preview - please use this tag for audio or pic previews of episodes
Anime: Raw - exactly what it says
Anime: Subbed - ditto
Anime: Other - use this tag for anything that doesn't fit in the other categories, like screencaps or gifs made from an episode.

The anime tag is strictly for entries related to anime episodes. There is a separate tag for fandubs. AMVs and other edited material that isn't a released sub needs to go under "vids" (which I will probably organize the next time I feel like procrastinating...) Also, I noticed that there were a lot of mis-tagged entries. There is a "goods" tag for merchandise, including scans from magazines (might have to organize that too). I'm not sure if this is a bit TOO segregated... I might go back later and just combine the "preview" and "other" categories...

And as always, please remember to tag your posts. It only takes a few extra clicks and it makes all our browsing lives easier. Any further suggestions on how to improve browsing and searching the community is welcome. Thanks!
