[Mod Post] New Mods and Queued Entries

Hello!

wiccat appointed me as one of the new mods, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Tara--I used to(and should really update this) post the wmv raws for people who only had WMM to make AMVs with. I'm around, oh, all day for the most part, Saturday being the exception. Never around on Saturdays.

Now onto the important thing: LJ's automatically queuing entries. As I think some of you are aware, for some reason, LJ will automatically queue an entry that has too many(or any, at times!?) links in it! This is not our fault. This is LJ's doing--please don't be mad at us!
It's especially LJ's fault because it apparently won't notify any moderators that things are now in the queue as the settings for moderated postings are off. But don't worry! I'll check the queue every day(if you need me to check it sooner, let me know) and make sure everything goes through. For now, I don't know any workarounds, and for that I apologize. I'll try and look into it.

Now then! In about half an hour or so, I'll be going through the moderation queue and reposting everything in there that hasn't made it through! (Th--the oldest thing in there is from February. . . .) I'm so sorry that some posts will be late because of this. Moderation queue has been cleaned. If your post didn't make it, please check your notifications or emails to say why! It's probably because it was outdated or you managed to post it some other way, so no need to worry too much.

Thank you for complying and please accept my apologies. I'll be going through each entry to ensure that it's not outdated or anything of the sort. If you remember you posted an entry and it didn't go through and you've decided you don't want it going through(or you reposted it and it got through and you'd like to make it easier for me,) please let me know and I'll reject it.

Also I made this post a while back and I'd still be willing to update it if it becomes necessary. (or maybe there'll be a new post to keep track of that idek, just thought I'd throw that out there). :/

I've changed the sidebar link and removed the Scanlations Request link, as well. Maybe make a list of untranslated things, too and put it on there? Like the Volume 4 profiles.

Also thank you for the raw archive! I had been going through the episode links on my site and so many of them don't work, so I was linking to your raw archive to replace them. It really helps. ;w;

I had posted a scanlation (Subject Title: [Scanlation] Clean Green) awhile back (around March 1st) that I've managed to post by other means, so it can be taken out of the queue.

Also, I think there is a way around it. Things with links that aren't LJ links need to be white listed, they aren't automatically white listed by LJ, so each individual community needs to go through and add those websites (like MediaFire) to their list of white listed domains.

The feature can also be turned off, apparently.

Really? Honestly, LJ. . .but I'll add things to the whitelist, once I'm done going through the queue. Thanks for letting me know!

That's already unchecked, actually. So it shouldn't be happening at all. . . . I guess that doesn't work for entries, just comments? Frustrating.

The actual settings for moderating posts are under: Communities > Manage > [community] > Settings > Community Moderation. (I was just looking for it myself.)

I had gotten a message from wiccat saying she turned off the moderation, so hopefully this comm won't have too much more trouble in this area. Until LJ mucks with things again. =x=;

Yeah, I found it. Everything there seemed to be in order. . .maybe Wiccat turned everything back to normal.

She told me moderation was already off, unless they put it back on. . .which is. Urgh, LJ really needs to pull itself together. Or at least stop implementing things like that without permission. It's much more hurtful than helpful.

It wouldn't be so bad if LJ properly announced it and let people know what options they have for their communities.

Haha, yeah. X3 There were only 30 or so entries in there, but it's clean now. I'm considering an entry to be posted in if you get the "queued" message from LJ, unless it stops queuing them now that the settings are off(or were they already off and LJ's just. . .being itself.) But I suppose we'll have to see if it stops queuing things needlessly before I make such an entry.

I was going to post something in regards to HA being on Tumblr and our new Tumblr Index but I'll wait until you've cleared out the queue. Don't want to make your job more difficult in case my entry does end up there! ^^;

And thank you so so much for changing the Hetalia Wiki link! You have no idea how happy I was when I saw that. Hopefully this will help people find our new home as advertising has been difficult to do. I wouldn't be surprised if people were trying to latch onto our old SW link and then went to Google to try to find our other location and ended up on Wikia. At least Tumblr has helped out a lot in spreading the word!

Ah, alright! When I get a bit of spare time I'll make a post about it. ^^

Last I heard they suffered another crash at the beginning of the month and there hasn't been any news or progress on their status (even their FB page is as dead as a doorknob). As much as we have nothing to do with our former host anymore, I do feel really bad for them since it really did look like they were starting to make a comeback as the site was viewable and they even got their forums up and running (which replaced the blog feature that went down in August last year). I did a hear a rumour that SW was shutting down for good but there's no proof to that states that is what's happening so we'll see what the future holds for them. But in all honestly, I've lost all hope for them and I'm beyond ecstatic that I was able to grab up all of our content during one of the few brief periods that the site was viewable. I couldn't be happier at our new host! :D

I just wanted to drop by and say thank you! I appreciate the extra effort you're going through to try to keep the comm running as smooth-ish-ly as LJ will allow.

Yeah. It'd be better if they had some sort of date it was removed from the moderation queue as opposed to just putting the originally intended posting date. Or maybe have them both. It's a bit confusing but at least there's nothing too old in there.

Thanks! Even if you don't come around much, thanks for being part of the community! Well, I'm more or less everywhere, I used to write fics on very rare occasions and participate in events and I roleplay(ed) a lot, along with the WMV RAW archive, and I find a lot of art(official and fanart) for people on aph_request as well as just information in general, I help with the Hetalia wiki sometimes. . .I've done a fair amount, I guess. So you might've seen me around. And I help scanlate sometimes, so you may have seen my name on credits for official art/comic scanlations or something. Oh! And I was one of the people who usually posted Himaruya's blog updates first. . . .so, yeah, you've probably seen me here and there about the comm.

aph_request? The comm still hasn't deactivated linking queue :(

Unfortunately, the only moderator there is

youkofujima. And she hasn't updated her journal since March and, as far as my knowledge goes, no one's been able to get into contact with her?

As a result I'm not responsible for it. :/ But since she's the only mod there and she was also mod here and aph_request was an extension of this comm, it's possible I could simply have an unofficial closing of the community and have all such questions/requests moved here? Or I could make a new community and moderate it myself. :(

For now, put all of your links there in the subject line, or try to(use a url shortener if you have a lot) or PM your links to the asker if possible(or just take out the http:// and see if that lets it post.) I'll ask the comm what it wants to do about that. Thanks for bringing that up!

Hm well, I think the best thing to do is continue with requesting at the comm and making possible queueing entries here at the main community (because I find making another community a bit unnecessary).

I'll post my request at aph_request again, but this time without the links.

(Yes, another comm is very unnecessary. Everything is scattered enough--even I don't know or follow all of the communities.) Well, since I can't moderate that community at all, I've just made it so everything can be asked here. I hope this won't cause an influx of questions or anything. . . . Not that it's a problem, it's still part of the community, but still. I never really understood what the request part of that was for, to be honest, people mostly just asked where to find this or that or if certain things had been scanned, and that wasn't really requests. . . .

You can post it here, instead! Since it'd be pretty hard to answer without links, looking at it. Or you can post it both here and there.
