Hello everyone! I have a lot of homework due, so you know what that means... procrastination!

You might notice that I have continued rearranging the tags like I had originally started out to do, as well as add in a couple new ones. Hopefully this will make them a little easier to navigate, and make it clearer which tag(s) you should be using. Please don't use the ones marked "x do not use" for they will slowly be dissolved as I go through them and sort them into their new appropriate tags.

That said, does anyone know if there's a way to combine two tags into one?

And if anyone has suggestions for how to improve the tagging system, please let me know o/

Also, please note that the "fan: coloring" tag is for fan... colorings. Like, coloring official artwork. Not fanart in color.

I'm glad you've cleaned up the tags! Although when I noticed them being renamed and such I got very confused.

To make two tags into one, just make their name the same in the "manage tags" page.

However, you seem to have forgotten to replace the "official site" tag. I think we need that? Maybe a "himaruya's blog" or "kitayume" or something tag? Although I think "official site" covers everything just fine. . . .

Huh. Weird. It should work--either LJ's being glitchy still or that just doesn't work whatsoever.

Aaah, only official: scanlation shoes up on the taglist. Although I suppose they wouldn't show up if you didn't put anything under them yet. That makes sense!

[identity profile] tarafishes.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for clearing it up! I wouldn't want anyone else getting confused, too. Also, another suggestion(you may have done it already but not have posts under it, though) a genderbend tag would be useful, and maybe a nekotalia one, considering we have a mochi tag.

What is the doujin tag now?

[identity profile] vilemuse.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry I didn't see that when I looked.

[identity profile] kecen.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
I would like pairing tags, but I understand if it would be too difficult with the limited number of tags that can be added per community.

I like how the doujinshi tags are being rearranged. Makes it a lot easier :)
Although doujinshi: selling would be useful, because sometimes all I get on that tag are selling posts :|

/goes through list with comb and makes epically long post. sorry/

I have a few suggestions for the character tags right off the bat
-cyprus (turkish republic of northern) instead of just "cyprus". A Cyprus character appears in that old "Axis Powers Hetalia: The CD" Drama CD but has yet to appear in any sketches. His younger brother (who also appeared on the CD) is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and is really the character referenced under that tag. This switchover would prevent a huge headache if/when Himaruya gets around to giving Cyprus a face.
-uganda
-ghana
-botswana All three of these guys have had chibi heads appear in the original Gakuen Hetalia demo when Seychelles was in class. kenya and zimbabwe only have tags because they resembled figures Himaruya used as "coat hangers" when posting designs of the Africa Class uniforms. Regardless, all five have physically appeared, so it would stand to reason that they get tags too...
-clans of japan?
-prefectures of japan?
-osaka? - I put question marks next to them because I don't know whether or not everyone would agree they merit tags at this point :/
-moldova? - Again unsure. Appeared as a chibi sketch in the World Economy strip but well...

^Its not exactly a clear appearance is it? :/
-macau - Appeared as a chibi sketch at the end of that post of possible Portugal designs and possibly during the Christmas bloodbath
-bavaria
-saxony - Both of them have appeared in several earlier strips and pics, usually in the background though (like in the War of Austrian Succession and Chibitalia)

I also second the idea for some kind of tag for Nekotalia and Nyotalia. Perhaps also some sort of "fan: original character" type tag?

Sorry for long post.

Or I guess it would just be formatted

-cyprus turkish republic of northern

and maybe "italy north (veneziano)" would look nice? IDK /shrugs
fh14: (South Korea [Hetalia])

[personal profile] fh14 2011-06-21 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I formatted it the way I did because I figured some people might have difficulty finding the "TRNC" tag and it would still be there when they looked for "cyprus" (though I suppose Northern Cyprus could work as well if there's a character limit for tagging, seeing as that's that nation's official name now).

Okay I'll stop bothering you with my OCD now. /slips off into corner/
fh14: (Default)

GAWD why am I so OCD?

[personal profile] fh14 2011-06-21 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wouldn't it be w/o the parenthesis like with the italy and korea tags?

/goes to medicate self so he doesn't feel the compulsion to annoy people with trivial OCD crap like this anymore. I swear I'm stopping now/

And good luck trying to figure out what to classify the posts under asia3 as. I do not envy your task at all. This community is huge. :S

Hmmm... I dunno, I liked the old tag system just fine...

Why so specific on the Official post tags? He often has a little bit of everything anyway (sketches, comics, etc). So we'd end up having to probably use all of those for over half of his posts.

Me, I've been basically using this community as a way to keep up with Sensei's posts, like an eventually-translated direct copy. With it being spread across so many tags now, it'll be impossible to simply follow along. We would now have to go to the tag list and click around through several different tags, not sure which ones are in which order.

Not sure if I'm wording this very clearly... Basically, with just "Official", I could just go there, scroll down to the last update I've seen, and see what's new. But now, I'd have to check under all the different tags one at a time, and possibly be seeing the updates out-of-order, having to jump back and forth. Know what I mean?

And what's with the dashes and equal signs too, while we're at it?

[identity profile] zacloud.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
The other alternative, would be to keep those, but have an additional "Hima-Blog" or "Bamboo Blog" or "Kitayume" or "Official Blog", or some-such tag that would be posted with all of those regardless of what they contain (example: tags for a translated comic can be... "official: translation" "hima-blog" "-italy" "-germany" etc).

That's the only way I can think of to keep the current system, but still give visitors a one-stop tag for following Himaruya-sensei's blog.

On another note though, I actually DO like the dash-character name system you've got there, it does make it much easier to keep things organized with so many tags. So great job on that and the groups :3

I second everything said in the comment above mine.
Some people aren't interested in fan generated content, and visit the community solely to discuss about the official news. With this many tags It becomes a hassle trying to keep up with what Himaruya is doing. Please consider bringing back the old Official Site tag.

That is a tremendous amount of work ;A; But thank you! I suppose the tags will look less cluttered now :)

I saw this :) Seems to be easier ^^.

I'm having a problem, I don't know if it's due to this change you made, but when I go to http://hetalia.livejournal.com it logs me out >_<; I have to check the community from my friends page (that it's quite confusing finde them ><)... And it's the only community I have this problem with ^^U.

Finally I tested in another browser (I was using Firefox at my Office's PC), at home with Chrome and Opera works ok O_o;; So, I guess it was a Firefox bug ^^Uu...

Well, most of the new system is great, but here's what I'm noticing so far:

All the tags that go "community: something something", are very hard to figure out when you're actually making a post, and you click to view/select tags. The text fades out only one or two letters after "community", so I don't know what they are unless I select them, read them in the bar, then de-select them again.

The only thing I can think of is to shorten "community" to "comm" unless there's any better ideas out there?

Also, while I do understand the organization for the "official" tags, it's just not getting any more functional no matter how much I try to get used to it. I still think there should be one single umbrella-term for Himaruya-sensei's blog entries (or just one "official" tag again) since they're all such a variety of scribbles anyway. Then, if anyone scanlates it, they can simply use the current "official: scanlation" tag which can stay as it is.

Perhaps we could also use a "manga" tag to discuss the manga, of course. My latest entry would be an example.

Everything else is great though. You came up with a great system for the most part, especially with the -characters and =groups. I just hope these other suggestions can smooth things out a little more.

[identity profile] hardysmidgen.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Quick suggestion/question about the tags: I know on the side of the page, there's that great masterlist for communities and the scanlation index...is there currently a masterpost for the anime episodes or a tag that could be used to keep track of anime masterposts? I know early on (i.e., first ten episodes of Hetalia) a subber had a personal masterpost that the just continued to update, but I haven't seen any recent masterposts going through the anime sub tag.

I'm currently pretty behind on the anime, and I was just thinking it would be VERY helpful to have a few one-stop-shops where you could find episodes grouped into seasons or blocks of episodes ala the format used in download forums for other television shows. Perhaps since we still have several subbers, subbing groups could create their own personal masterposts and simply use a general "anime: masterpost" tag, which would help both those looking for a whole set of episodes and those looking for the most recent update.

Is that doable/something anime episode uploaders would be interested in?
