Hetalia Mock UN Debate @ Hetalia Day Southern California

Hello Comm! I'm a long time lurker in the fandom, hetalia fan and MUN (model united nations) nerd. At the Southern California/Los Angeles Hetalia Day events I had the great pleasure of hosting a Hetalia-style Mock(model) UN Debate as part of the UN Day celebrations. Sign ups were on the spot and we soon had 19 countries represented!!

The topic (General Assembly):

It's time to decide on an official UN Uniform that consists of Business casual, Formal, and ~*~*Party*~*~ wear. Nations will debate fashion and function, bringing the best of their home cultures and style sensibilities to the table to (hopefully) come up with a design.

After 45 minutes of heated and hilarious debate, some harassment, and brilliant on-the-spot roleplay, the Assembly adopted the resolution:

Everyone wears whatever they want, besides France.

If you're familiar with MUN you must have had a few Hetalia moments. MUN, whether at high school or college level can get ironically close to the soap-opera-comedy style of Hetalia and it was too interesting to not attempt the conference. It wasn't straight-rules and we were very pressed for time, but overall it was a surprisingly fun success!

Hopefully, this can be the start of more organized and larger HetaMUN conferences or panel/debates! If allowed, I'm aiming to host a more organized one at a major California Anime Convention. I know there's no shortage of those interested... It'll just be a question of logistics and equipment.

If you're interested in starting a HetaMUN conference, a few resources (sample rules, procedure, delegate packets, and all proposed topics) as well as the basics of how things were set up can be found on the HetaMUN website for this LA test run :3 also, don't hesitate to ask, especially if you're a fellow(or former) MUN-er ♥

Yeah, so my Indonesian teacher has assigned us to make a...thesis? Well, it's not really a thesis as we're only 11th graders, but it's something like that, you need to do a research, hypothesis, and present your findings...And the topic is up to us, as long as it sounds scientific...

I'm thinking of something like 'The Effect of Axis Powers Hetalia on the Interest about International Issues and World History'.

In general, what do you think of the possibility of making APH and its fanbase as a scientific project?

EDIT: I'm not from the states or Europe, so there might be some cultural differences regarding the nature of the project itself...

I've been trying to decide whether to cosplay as Liechtenstein or Belarus, but I can't decide! Please help me fellow Hetalia fans! D:

Liechtenstein is my favorite character, and I think I could do a good job acting like her! I can choose to wear her red dress, or her military outfit.
But I also have been wanting to cosplay as Belarus since chasing some random Russia cosplayer would be really fun! (I could also maybe buy a fake knife or something!)

I believe I would have to buy a wig since my hair is too long for Liechtenstein and too short for Belarus. (It's about shoulder length) Does anybody know of any websites where the wigs look accurate and aren't too expensive?
Also, I'm about 5"6, so would that be too tall for Liechtenstein?

Country's Personality Quirks?

This might have already been asked >.<

Certain countries have strange personality quirks, such as Poland's valleyboy speech and cross dressing, Sweden's mumbling, England's ability to see supernatural things, France's constant streaking, Russia's waterpipe, etc. What I'm confused about is what meaning those traits have. Are they historical in jokes? Are they supposed to represent a stereotype of people from the countries? Is it just Himaruya beefing up their personalities with wacky quirks? I love Hetalia and I learn a ton from it, so I sort of feel like I'm missing out on something I should know. Your thoughts?
