Calling all S. FL Cosplayers!

Hello~ I'm the Assistant Director of Events for MizuCon, an anime convention in South Florida.

I'm currently working on organizing a Model United Nations event at MizuCon 2011 using Hetalia cosplayers. Unless you see a next to their name, the person list isn't locked in and thus that character might become available. Also, if you're reading this and have someone you'd like to recommend, direct them to this entry and have them comment. Make sure they let me know how they found out about this. :3

You must be able to do the following (: required; : preferred):
Attend MizuCon 2011 (Aug. 19-22; at least Saturday).
Have a costume of the character (country) you want to be. (NO casual outfits; it must be a canon costume or thrifted BASED on a canon costume.)
Speak a little of the language your country primarily speaks. (Things like "yes," "no," "hello," ect.)
Have a knowledge of the country's basic history and current events (for August of 2011).
Have the flag of your country (3×5 ft is best) and an accompanying flag pole (preferably one that stands).
Attend our Get-to-Know Meet August 13 (details below).

THE PANEL/EVENT WILL GO SOMETHING LIKE THIS:
We (people of the list below) will be seated at the front of the room. If you have a flag, they will be stood up in a semi-circle around us. The audience will be invited to ask us questions that we will answer in character. The questions can be anything so long as it's PG-13. So, someone might ask you what color underwear you have on and you may answer however you feel your country would answer. (Hungary might get out of her seat looking like she'd hit them with her frying pan.) We are not in the business of touching; no glomps, no hugs, no hitting, ect. is allowed to bridge the stage and audience. Be prepared to answer history-related questions. If you do a little research on your country you should be able to find out which issues fans bring up most. You should try to use phrases or words from your country's main language when speaking in the panel. (So, in Belgium for instance, there are two main ones: French and Dutch. But the capital is in the Dutch region. So unless I speak to France, Canada or Luxembourg, I'd use Dutch.) Phrases you might like to know are the following: Hello (or "Nice to meet you"), Thank you, You're welcome, Yes, No, and any other little nuances you think you should know (as I suspect much crack will be asked, perhaps something like, "Oh God," might be good). If you have trouble with anything I just went over, let me know and I'll try to be of some help.

I also want you to know how to say "I am [country]," in your country's language. France, for insistence, would say, "Je suis la France." We will introduce ourselves as our countries at the beginning of event.

ALSO, I understand that Mizu is still 7 months away; I'm doing this now to get an idea of what's possible. As such, this list and everyone on it (even the ones with stars!) are highly subject to change. I update this on dA here (with notification) at least once a month or until I have major updates so you can stay informed.

AS FOR THE GET-TO-KNOW MEET...
The Meet's purpose is... well, just like it says, "get to know" one another. I know the majority of the people won't know everyone. We will meet a week (or more, I'm not sure yet) before the con at a central location (most likely at a park) and have shenanigans. We will be discussing key things to know throughout the panel (such as who is comfortable with what and what sort of person your country will be). THIS IS NOT A COSPLAY EVENT. I actually DON'T want you to come in cosplay for this. I will have spiffy name tags for everyone but this is really about getting to know you as a person (after all, if you're in canon, we already know what your country is like). We'll play fun country-related games too. It'll be a potluck for sure, and with so many of us, I'm sure we'll all get our fill. Now, this is not a mandatory part of the event, BUT it is key to it, so unless you absolutely cannot make it, please try to come. Let me know why you can't make it so I can try to make arrangements for you. Right now, I have it scheduled for August 13th and the time and location are not scheduled at all yet. I will have the rest of this information set in stone in July and it will not be made public; I'll note/message/e-mail everyone. Again, this is not a public event; this is for our benefit only.

With that, countries on the list with an asterisk (*) are ones that are not necessarily canon but either... probably will be by then or, countries I will except canon-based, clever OCs. (All characters must be cleared by me first.) If you're put down for one of these countries, I will understand if, if and when the design is released, you'd like to change countries or drop out all together.
