You are invited to the “Eastern Europe & Co.” Summer Fic/Art Exchange!

A community over at dreamwidth is set up for a Secret Santa exchange focused on the “Eastern Europe*” group from the series Axis Powers Hetalia. As such, fanworks with Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Prussia, Hungary, Romania, Finland and Bulgaria as far as they are part of the group are the focus of the exchange.

Here’s how it works: After you sign up, you’ll be assigned another participant to write a story/draw art for, following the prompts they’ve submitted. On September 1st through September 24th, you can start posting up what gift you are giving your Secret Santa, and someone in turn will post up a gift for you!


Summer 2012 Timeline
July 30: Sign-ups begin.
August 13th: Sign-ups end.
August 14th-20th: Assignments go out.
August 31st: Check-In Deadline
September 1st: First day to post up your fills!
September 24th: Last day to post up your fills! Please have it in by midnight!
September 31st: Extensions end
Pinch hits should be posted until the end of October at the very latest.


*”Eastern Europe” as it is used in fandom to describe the group that commonly includes all Slavic and “Baltic” nations and sometimes more; as such it is broader than the actual definition, including also Southeastern and Middle European nations.

Sounds fun! Don't have time for it myself (unfortunately), but I know some people who'd be interested.

Just wondering, would Romania count for this as well?

I discussed that with a couple of friends who play him, actually, because I was unsure about him being in it or not, and we came to the conclusion that no, based on mostly history, but also geography and language. But in retrospect, considering that Hungary is in the "&Co" group, the reasons to allow Romania for a certain historical timeframe/certain contexts are absolutely there.
