Unfortunately, the age thing isn't really because FUNi wants to run it that way - it's a legal requirement in the US for most contests that actually award prizes. At seventeen, US law still sees you as a child rather than a near-adult, and therefore unable to give meaningful consent to this sort of thing, which I personally think is bull, but that's federal government for you.

Yea I know that XD But I've seen plenty of contests with prizes that usually have those "get your parent's permission to enter" if you're not over 18 things. :/

Ah, sorry, I'd just come back from the FUNimation blog when I wrote that, and there were all sorts of people complaining about the age thing as if it were FUNi's fault specifically and no-one else's, so yeah. OTL

I have no idea why they don't have the "get a parent's permission" thing. The only reason I can think of is that maybe because Hetalia is technically rated for a mature audience here in the US, they have to try and not allow for the possibility of a minor winning that prize, parent's permission or not? It sounds silly, but I have seen sillier reasons for wanting to exclude someone from a contest.
