Animate Lottery Prizes (+new merch) reviews and pics!

I just fought through a crowd of fujoushi and spent way too much money. I REGRET NOTHING.

So today was the start (and probably the end) of the Hetalia "anikuji" (Ani-Lottery) at Japanese Animate stores. The prize sheet is up now but there were a few surprising things so I'll post a quick review for you!

 

 

So to participate in an Anikuji, you stand in a huge line while battling crazy old women (um...), get to the cash register and tell them how many you want (ie: TWENTY O_O) and it's 500 yen per try.

They shake up a box of slips and you pull out the number of slips that you paid for. You peel the slips open and it tells you what prizes you got. My hands shook the entire time *___*

 

Here are some pictures, descriptions, etc...

 

Starting from the bottom up, of the 19 times I tried I got 8 of the D-tier prizes (A, B, C, D). These are cell-strap screen cleaners, but they're different than I thought they'd be from the picture! 

 

For one they're really big *_* They're also super cushy instead of like a normal flat screen cleaner. Apparently this style is popular at the moment... You can win Halloween Prussia, Austria, and Hungary. I kept getting Prussia OTL;;; 

 

 

And here's one showing how big/thick they are...

 

 

I might keep the Austria (I only got one @__@) and one of the Prussias for a friend, then sell the rest...

 

And as you saw in the last picture, the next prize (C-tier) is metal keychains. These are so pretty *___* I won two of each EXCEPT THE US/UK ONE. Would you believe I went into this anikuji just because I wanted that keychain? ...And it's literally one of 3 things in the entire lottery I didn't get. (If anyone's in the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe or Okinawa area and wants to trade... >>)

 

Anywho, they're fairly lightweight and very cute. There's nothing on the reverse side. The biggest problem is that one charm will completely cover the other charm when they're hanging, so I'm thinking of splitting up the ones I'm keeping into separate keychains. It's a little annoying, but eh.

 

 

Next up is B-tier, with only two choices.

They're tall glasses with the Axis or Allied halloween images printed onto them. They're actually super cute *__*

Though, to be honest I wish they didn't try to fit all five allies on one glass... The characters are small and cluttered compared to the Axis one. Oh well!

 

 

And probably what people really wanted to see, these are the A-tier prizes of which there were very few @___@ On a fun note they were my last two pulls (#18 and 19) so I kind of freaked out, even if I didn't get the US/UK one :|

EDIT: Cushions will probably be on auction starting around July 18th? A Japan one just sold for 10、000 Yen (~$125) on Yahoo!JP auctions so I'd rather not set a price o___o;;; I'll just start it low and let you guys decide.

 

 

So these are LARGE pillows. Double sided, I got France/Russia and Japan/China. Yet again if anyone in the area wants to trade for the US/UK one... >>; The colors are fantastic and, yet again, these things are LARGE. I didn't think I'd win one so I totally wasn't prepared to walk back to the station with huge bags @__@ I think I might sell both of them if I can't trade since they're... a little... too big for my tiny self XD

I hope that gives you a good idea of the merchandise! I imagine it'll be difficult to get (even in Japan, getting the prizes from the last lottery 2nd hand was difficult -_-) but at least you know what you're looking at! As mentioned I'll be selling... Actually most of this stuff eventually. Probably at the end of July :o Keep an eye out if you're interested!

 

FINALLY! A new general-merchandise item was released... MOCHI! It's 550 yen and comes with an adorable cotton bag (pretty small), a tiny sticker sheet, and 4 mochi. The mochi weren't anything special but they weren't bad either (anyone remember the UK "Galette cookies"? Or the World Series Curry? Oh dear lord... ;__; ).

I have an odd question for you...how sturdy is the packaging for the glasses? I'm thinking about bidding on them through my proxy and I was just curious how good/bad the packaging was for them. Thanks!

They're wrapped in a foam sheet and in a nicely snug box that's pretty thick, so I think it should be fine. There's no room to move and the box looks like it can take impact decently.
