A questionnaire - Fandoms in different countries

Hello Everyone!
I have a favor to ask for – that’s to fill the questionnaire below.
I’m writing an article for Polish Hetalia FanSite (www.hetalia.org) about fandoms in foreign countries and how people in different countries see Hetalia. Obviously, my knowledge of these is quite limited and therefore I need help of Hetalia fans – you! The questionnaire will consist of around 10 questions and will ask about more general view on certain topics within your country rather than your own. It will take you only about 15 minutes to complete – only few sentences of an answer will be enough! - But it will be such a great help for me!

 So here goes the questionnaire:

 1) What country are you from?
 2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
 3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
 4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
 5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
 6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
 7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
 8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
 9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
 10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?

 And that is it :D!
Thank you all for taking part in this questionnaire! It means a lot!
[ I've got cherishedsaulie's  approval for posting the questionnaire]

1) What country are you from? United States

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia? Yes.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it? Eh, I think a lot of the issues people had is that America came off as a jerk, which...unfortunately is the stereotype of every American I've ever met.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features? N/A

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country? I'd say Prussia, judging by all the cosplay.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided? I don't pay attention to ships that much due to the insanity of ship wars, but everyone I know likes America/England, France/England.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted? I wouldn't know. I personally find Poland a tad annoying.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country? Most of them use the hetalia shoutwiki and this lj community. No guess on how many people fans there are.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?

I love the satire, and unfortunately I learned more about history from Hetalia than I did when I was in school. I think people trying to apply historic meaning to it is what really kills the fun that the fandom can have, because you have people who want to canonize so and so event as well as those who cry outrage at things such as Nazi imagery when it comes to Germany.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country? Don't pay attention to the memes, so I wouldn't know.

1) What country are you from? Canada!
2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia? Yes!
3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it? I think we all feel a little sad that Canada's so very invisible...but when it comes to being known, Canada normally is ignored, or lumped together with the USA. When he's actually addressed, he's adorable though!
4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features? N/A
5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country? I think there are a whole bunch. I have friends who have all sorts of different characters. It might be Prussia though, just from what I've seen personally.
6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided? Again, it's hard to say. I've seen a lot of UK/Canada, some France/Canada... but then things like... Germany/Prussia and GerIta... I'm tempted to say a little of everything!
7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted? Personally I love Poland. Even though he's sort of like a "valley girl", and seems entirely vacant at times, he's a strong character who doesn't seem afraid of anyone or anything.
8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country? Fandom... I don't know. LJ, Deviantart...the kink meme? I'm not certain personally. As for how many fans...Well at least there are a bunch in Ontario (I personally know of a couple dozen), but I'm sure there are lots all over Canada :D
9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it? Oh my, you can't take Hetalia seriously. It's meant as sort of a satire of history, not as an actual history lesson itself. I've seen plenty of fanfictions that do a very good job at making real events easy to learn through the use of the characters and their personalities...however the show itself is really just meant as satire, I think. Personally it got me interested in history and geography, which I'm grateful for, but I don't take their personalities (or the events) seriously. :D
10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country? In only my country? I'm not sure about that. We get excited about Netherlands' tulips (because we're Canada, and they give us a Tulip festival every year!), and I've heard quite a bit about Prussia's "Five meters"... :D....

1) What country are you from?
USA.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Yeah man.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
Well, you know Americans. We're made fun of, but we always assume the stereotype being thrown around pertains to everyone but ourselves.

I personally find America to be pretty accurate. I don't know of many people who are offended by his portrayal.

Btw. I fucking love this country.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
Que paso?

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
Um. England and America.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
USUK. Everyone here has a Brit fetish. Everyone but me.

Not Eastern European enough.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
Idk many IRL Hetalia fans? But if I were to guess, I'd assume the general response would be LOLOL PORAND CROSSDRESSER. I personally see him as more than a transvestite. I actually don't even see him as a transvestite. His occasional crossdressing just seems like he's finding ways to be silly. He's a silly character.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
LJ bro. You know they ain't cool if they do not gravitate to this community right hurr.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
People take Hetalia too seriously, yeah. The verbal battles to the death over pairings, canon implications, etc. gets a bit much. It's a gag comic.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
CANADIA LOL WHURR'D HE GO OH HE DON'T EXIST LOLOLOL. btw PASTAAA

god, murikuh.

stfu.

1) Germany
2) Yep.
3) Oh well. It's really that stereotype thing about Ludwig. But sometimes I wish he just had realistic german moments. Like in just acting... Well, normal. The other characters have - beside the clishes - other facettes too.
4) -
5) I would probably say Gilbert Beilschmidt / Prussia
6) Germancest and GerIta, even thought Prussia/Austria is popular too, so it's hard to tell
7) Yeah. People are okay with that. Especially, that Hidekaz didn't make a thief out of Feliks. I'm kinda glad about it, to be honest...
8) animexx.de is the biggest anime/manga community. We organize events there. I myself have german hetalia forum [hetaitsu.ohmyforum.net], but it's not as huge as the animexx fandom
9) People here see it like that - at least the fans. People who aren't familiar with it, take it mostly offensive, since war is still a taboo topic over here. [Only exception is, how Germany was splitted after WW2, and how great that was from the Allies, and that we still should learn from them nowadays and... I start ranting, do I?]
I believe that's the reason, why it isn't published over here. But with a bit of luck it will come to Austria or Switzerland.
10) In normal case, the american and pixiv fandom stuff is used.

1) What country are you from?
England

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Yes.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
Personally, I love England the way he is and think the stereotype is spot on. I don’t think I would change anything about him.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
N/A.

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
Hmmm…based on the amount of cosplays I’ve seen at conventions, I would say America and maybe England.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
I would say America/England.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
I see Poland as being an okay kind of character that has his cute, silly and very random moments, but I don’t really have a very high opinion of him or anything.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
Well, we have conventions, the big ones usually being held in either Manchester, Birmingham and London where a lot of people cosplay an such as Hetalia characters, as well as other characters from various fandoms. But some fans sometimes hold their own Hetalia meet ups (unfortunately I have yet to go to any of the meet ups cause they are no where near where I live). As for the site…er, I guess I would say LJ and Deviantart, because it seems like the most popular sites for fans to go too. As for how many there are, I have no idea, but I imagine there are lots, based on cosplays I’ve seen at conventions.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
I’ve been fortunate enough to not come across those folks that can’t a joke, but I bet there are some people out there that are anti-Hetalia, I just haven’t met them yet, lol xD;;

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
I have no clue, to be honest :/

1) What country are you from?
I'm Italian, but I'll say Spain because that's where I live.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Yup.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
The big majority of my Spanish fandom-friends like him a lot, actually. They just don't like the few times the matador issue is brought up - mostly because a lot of teenagers here don't like bullfighting at all.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
I think we are pretty diverse, I don't really see there's an actual favorite. Buuuut Latin OCs are ASTOUNDINGLY popular in the Spanish-speaking fandom (that would include South America).

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
Almost everyone I know likes (or has liked at some point) USUK. Spain/Romano seems to be very liked too. I'll say the popular ones are just... popular here too.
As for the unity, I've never seen a pairing war here -I'm sure we have them too, but they must be kind of little.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
Poland is well-liked - I don't really think there's a "hated" character in the Spanish fandom. The problem is that A LOT people almost just see that he's a crossdresser and make a pretty bland character out of him in fanworks.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
We have [livejournal.com profile] hetalia_esp as the main community here, but most of the users are South American, not Spanish. The little group from Barcelona in which I'm in works around DeviantArt and Facebook. I can't really tell if we're a lot of little, you know >:

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
People sees it as a gay comedy. And the fandom is painfully anime centered, to the point that the LJ main Spanish comm posts the manga entries very late, hardly covers the blog specials and it's now kind of dead as for the canon entries- because the anime hiatus :|

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
Not especially.

[identity profile] xushar.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
1) What country are you from?

Russian Federation.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?

Yes.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?

A lot of people would have preferred the Slavics as friends, rather than siblings, but people generally approve of Ivan, despite the Polish surname.

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?

Might seem odd, but people here generally like Switzerland, other than Russia.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?

Liechtenstein and Switzerland, with a notable splash of Russia and China, as well as Germany and Japan, but otherwise vastly diverse. The fandom here in LJ is naturally centered around english-speaking countries, but some of these pairings, and most Canada pairings are virtually non-existent from what I've seen, with Russians preferring Euro-pairings.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?

This is touchy. A lot of the younger people don't really see any problems in this, but a few older are ether confused or disappointed in such. A lot of people that like him want to see more of him in the future, though. A friend of mine expected him to be a brute.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?

I wish there was a clean-cut answer. While I know that there is a lot of Russians liking Hetalia, I don't know where they gather, as I prefer the English community. I would guess 300,000 people in Russia would call themselves fans, but this is very rough.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?

A mix of both, really.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?

I've seen pictures of Germany drinking vodka a few times from the Russian fans, and of America complaining (In English), of Russia stealing and using his hero alphabet backwards, as well as Russia in a normal red-army suit, in contrast to his inverted one.

[identity profile] juandalyn.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
1) What country are you from? Good ol' Germany.
2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia? Even one of the main characters. Yay.
3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it? Well... I think most German fans are pretty okay with Germany's design. At least those I talked to. I think I've heard of some that they don't like the fact that he's always portrayed in an uniform - but well, that's Hetalia.
What seems to be really liked is the fact that Germany may be crumpy at times, but still a nice guy. If you look at other portrayels. I mean, if a German character is not a nazi, he often is a crazy scientist, or a sadist, or a soldier, or simply a coldheartet asshole.
So yeah, I think most fans are pretty okay with him. Non-fans, on the other hand, may not like him.
4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features? -
5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country? I think Germany is very popular, but also Prussia. Nevertheless, there is not really a total bias. But most fans especially like European and North American characters (I don't want to say there's no love for Asians. But I have the feeling they're not as popular. Sorry if they are, I'm not a master in German fandom ;_;).
6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided? UFF. I really have no idea. It seems to be very divided.
7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted? I think so. Though I've seen some more serious interpretations of him.
8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country? There are quite a lot, at least I was surprised when I checked Animexx after 3 years of LJ. Back then, it was very very small on Animexx (and in Germany as all). That's why I went over to LJ. Now... let me check the list... the fan-list says 1311 members, but I'm sure there are more. Well, about the sites, as said, Animexx (http://animexx.onlinewelten.com/serien/start.phtml?id=3641). We also have a German LJ-forum, check it out hetalia_dt (http://hetalia-dt.livejournal.com/)!
9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it? There are quite a lot serious fanfics. Especially in the beginning, when the main focus was still a lot on WWII. You know, since Germany played a very important and difficult role. Now it's more light-hearted. I'd say today you can't say it's dark serious - and it's just a manga, after all.
10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country? Hm, Germany and his wursts? Austria and cake? Prussia being awesome? Lately, there have been a lot of German state OCs.

1) What country are you from? Peru

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia? No

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it? he/she doesnt exist yet

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features? it was made by a latin hetalia community here: http://img152.imageshack.us/i/perut.jpg/ it looks err... fine... I like the design :3 and it reflects a lot of how we are...yeah it's interesting... but I enjoy seeing other people's OCs as well

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country? mmmm England I guess... maybe Italy and Prussia too

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided? it seems a lot of people like a lot of pairings... but I guess you can say USUK, GerIta and SpainRomano are the ones with the most attention

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted? We aren't from Europe. So we dont really hear that much about Poland. Polish jokes are known only by a few people. The Hetalia character itself is liked very much... yeah it's popular :3

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country? We had a community but it seems forgotten nowadays: http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia_peru we also have a forum but that's it... I think I cant really say how many hetalia fans there are but there are quite some cause we had meetings for hetalia day and it was quite a large group (and I know of people who werent there)

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it? A lot of people I know are college students so they tried to add some historical meaning (specially for shipping purposes or just because they like characters)... but most of people watch it for fun

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country? Well Canada's "who" is really popular if I recall correctly... but it's not only common in my country... besides that I dont know many

1) What country are you from?
Canada!! (I'll try my best to speak for the Prarie Provences! I think we're a lot different compared to places like Ontario or Quebec on the subject of Hetalia.)

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Yes

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
Personally, I like it, but I know a few fans who say he's a bit of a 'wimp'.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
N/A

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
Probably Ukraine or Germany because of the heavy influence they have in our cultural history (family immigrants).

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
It's hard to say, because pairings are more of a personal view.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
Definately. Some aspects more than others though, but most of the fanbase knows that it's all in joke.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
Mm, probably LJ. I'd never be able to estimate how many fans there are, to be honest.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
Depends on the fan, really. Although it's fun to joke around in it's humour, it's also nice to enjoy the history involved.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
If Norway's curling pants count, then sure! Other than that, the Tulip Festival from the Netherlands.

I can't even spell where I'm from right... hehe xD

Any other prairie folk here on LJ? /hopeful

1) What country are you from?
United States of America.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Yes.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
It's mixed. Some people think he's hilarious and awesome and others find it horribly stereotypical/offense. I personally am okay with it, for the most part. (Even if, in all honesty, I've never met someone based off of America's stereotype.)

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
N/A

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
Prussia, perhaps. Although I know a lot like America and England.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
I'd actually have to say it's mixed, once again. Everyone seems to believe it may be USUK or FRUK, but I seem to find it's just as equal to other pairings.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
As I know, everyone either think he's annoying and boring, or funny and cool.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
Most seem to use this community and the wiki.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
Most everyone who watches/reads Hetalia know it shouldn't be taken too seriously or they're aware it's a parody. I have seen some who try and apply history to it, however. It's surprising, but sometimes they're correct.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
"Canada. Wait, who?" or Prussia's five meters. I've also been seeing a lot of "Lie back and think of England" as well.

EDIT:

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
Most seem to use this community and the wiki. I would guess there AT LEAST over 100,000 fans. I would hope, anyway...

I've also noticed a lot of the dubbed phrases are popular.

(I'm sorry, that Deleted Post was me. I made an error on it...!)

1) What country are you from?
~USA, United States of America.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
~Why yes. Yes, he was. A silly young blond man with bright blue eyes and glasses.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
~From the people I've heard, they like Alfred.
I'm fine with his personality...it's just that he needs to stop eating so many darn burgers and eat something else for once!
As I said earlier, though, I'm fine with his dorky characteristic.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
~N/A

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
~Oh my gosh, I have no idea. xD
Seems to me that people here like Gilbert (Prussia). Then again, I like him, too.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
~Most people here like US/UK...

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
~From the times I've seen/read of him so far, he's okay. I haven't been able to catch up to the episodes where Feliks appears more. (I'm so far behind. I'm sorry...!)

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
~Sites? My guess is that it would have to be here (Hetalia's LiveJournal page). No, I really can't tell how many fans there are in my country.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
~To be honest, yes. Here in the USA, there's been nothing but negative reviews for the series (except for the manga version) because certain reviewers take it way too extreme.
It's satire.
Then again, it could be because of the English dub's script.
The English dub turns the show up a few notches. They should be careful...
Plus, I don't like character-bashing and pairing wars. (People are being pretty mean to Seychelles right now...)

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
~I can name a few from our English dub...
A) France's dubbed laugh ("O hon o hon hon hon. O hon hon hon~")
B) Anything related to becoming "one with Russia".
C) "Flying MINT Bunny!"

Okay, I tried. I hope I didn't fail you.
This was fun to do! :D

Crud...I didn't answer Question 7 correctly. I'm sorry.

As for how people view him here...it's mixed, but, the people I've talked to really like Feliks. :)

1) What country are you from?
USA

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Yes.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
I think most people like him. When I first got into Hetalia and realized that America was in the series, I was expecting him to be a complete asshole due to international perceptions of America at the time. I was pleasantly surprised that he was an overall likable character. I'd like to change the English dub's characterization of him, though; they made him stupider and more of a jerk. -_-

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
I've seen a couple people who've made OC's for a Confederate States of America; there isn't any official one, and most of the ones I've seen have been underdeveloped.

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
I'd say FACE (France, America, Canada, and England).

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
GerIta, Spamano, SuFin, and Frying Pangle are the ones I've seen almost universal support for. USUK and FrUK are the most popular England pairings; they seem to coexist peacefully. USUK and Russiamerica are the most popular America pairings; they don't seem to coexist as peacefully. A lot of USUK fans seem to really hate Russiamerica for some reason.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
I think a lot of people don't really give him much thought; they like him, but they don't bother to look deeper into his personality like they do for FACE. I've seen some people who despise seeing Poland in a dress, which wouldn't be so bad, except they blame the cross-dressing rather than the shallow way people portray him, and they end up saying really bigoted things against transvestites. >:(

This is the broad opinion. Personally, I adore Poland! He's one of my top three favorite male characters; I typically keep the cross-dressing in my fanworks, but I don't portray him as an extra from Clueless.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
I'd say the mainstream ones, mostly. No idea.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
There are a bunch of anti-fans who can't take a fucking joke, but I think there are also some people in fandom who take things too lightly. (Like the idiots who did the Nazi salute in full Germany cosplay right next to a Holocaust memorial.) There is a lot of humor in the manga, but there's also a lot of historical in-jokes in there as well.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
I don't know...Maybe the constant references to the song "America, Fuck Yeah!" when America appears in fanworks?

I hope this was helpful!

1) What country are you from?
Russia.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Yep.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
From what I know, fans have always been very enthusiastic about Russia, especially after Hetalia became popular. A lot of them basically joined the fandom only because of him.
The weird part is that while everyone seems to be all over canon Russia, there are a lot of character-bending and some of it is pretty radical. Like, quite a lot of people believe that Russia's innocent childish behaviour is just a facade and he is, in fact, perfectly sane and manipulative determinator (even though Himaruya himself jossed it). The "tragic hero, alone against the world" interpretation is rather popular too.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
Russia. Prussia, England and America are quite popular too.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
Hmm, I can't say there is one that really stands out. Well, Russia/Prussia and Poland/Lithuania maybe, but the hype died down quite a bit lately...

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
Poland is well-liked, most Slavics are. He is usually portrayed as a pink-clad badass, though. I've never heard anyone complain about his character.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
Quite similar to LJ - there is a main comm, there are several smaller comms dedicated to pairings and groups. The community is not as big, so we don't get separate comms for specific types of fanworks.
No idea about numbers, sorry. :( The main comm has four thousand people or so.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
Depends on where you look. A lot of fans prefer to not go too deep, others like to play with the historical aspect, there are also some who make it all about politics. *shudder*

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
Nothing comes to mind except snarking about General Winter and some main comm drama.

Sorry my English.

1) What country are you from?
-Finland.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
-Yes.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
-I know lot of people, who feels that Finland should be manlier character, who is always drunk, grumpy, hates Sweden and swears and cries for his horrible life.
I'm very relieved that he is not like that. Finland's character is based in that time, when he still was part of Sweden. Also, many people hasn't ever heard name "Tino", but in this part of Finland where I'm living, it's kind of popular name of young boys. I'm still sure, that Himaruya meaned name "Timo", because Tino is pretty new name.

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
-N/A

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
-I believe it's Prussia, Russia or Nordics.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
-I think it's USUK, FrUK and SuFin.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
-I like Poland. He is silly and little childish, but strong character. People usually see him as a Pony guy with skirt and pink house. Usually surrounded by rainbows.
I still know some fans, who sees his deeper side.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
-There is lots of meetings all over the year, where usually comes around 10-35 people. There is even sleepover-meetings! I think almost every Hetalia fan, who lives in Helsinki, or near of that, knows each other. I know few little forums and fansites, but I think most of hetards are in Facebook and IRC-Galleria (largest social networking website in Finland). There Finnish fans can talk about Hetalia and organize more meetings.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
-I see it very humorous way. I believe that most of us does. Of course there can be exceptions, I don't know all the fans :')

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
- I believe there is, but I can't remember anything right now.

1) What country are you from?
Argentina.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
No. Not yet, at least..*hopes*

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
---

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
There are A LOT of (Latin American) OCs, but only two or three that are 'fan-official'. The one i don't like much has blond hair (we're *not* mostly blond, really..). At least from what i can remember, the 'official' OCs do not reflect much of the country as a whole but more of the capital city, wich honestly i don't think it's fair, but that's a world-wide misconception of Argentina, and at the moment i can't remember if the authors of said OCs are Argentinians or not.

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
The sames as everywhere else, i mean, Axis and Allies. Also Sweden, Finland and Prussia, and some of the Asians ( China and Hong Kong, mostly)

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
SwedenxFinland, and some Asians pairing is what i've seen most, maybe some USUK, but i wouldn't know for sure..

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
I don't know about others, but among my group of Hetalia-fans friends, he is easily accepted xD

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
I honestly have no idea. I got in this fandom a bit late, so i think DRAMA has already divided the waters, and there are like two or three different groups. As for the site/forum thing, i think there's something on Facebook ._. , and like in other places fans gather for Hetalia Day, and cosplay at cons, that kind of stuff..

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
I honestly don't think anybody here would take it seriously.
Actual historical stuff appears when making jokes and roleplaying/cosplaying mostly..

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
The word 'awesome' is overused. From the Hetalia-fans group of friends i'm in, we normally refer to the characters like "the Swede, the Finn, the Spanish", etc. We call Hong Kong 'the Chinglish' for obvious reasons, and also change the characters names to things more Spanish-like ( so Alfred is Alfredo, Arthur is Arturo, ...Berwald is Berwaldo XD)
About Hotland/Netherlands and his tulips, well, there's a brand of condoms named 'Tulipán' (tulip) so that's a common joke too xD..

[identity profile] kanami-yuuta.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)

ah I know... I remember talking with an argentinian who told me the same... since Hetalia is not much an accurate characterization as much as an stereotype characterization... I understand why Argentina would end up being arrogant

sorry for butting in! *runs away*

1) What country are you from?
- Finland
2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
- Yup.
3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
- I guess we like it :'D At least me and my friends like the personification, and I've never met a Finn who wouldn't like Tino. But there is something why we all (I mean me and my friends) were slightly perplexed when we found Hetalia, and it's Finland's happy and talkative personality. But don't get me wrong, I don't mean that there's something wrong with his cheery personality - but in all honesty, that's not the very first image what comes to my mind when thinking a good personification for Finland.
4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
- -
5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
- Uh, Denmark? I don't really know... but among the Finns I know Denmark (and the Nordics in general) are really popular.
6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
- SuFin and DenNor. But of course, people are different and not everyone loves these pairings.
7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
- ..aaggh, what a difficult question! I don't know, I haven't talked much about Poland with my friends. I think Poland was easily accepted, because he is seen as a internally strong character and I personally like Poland very much. The thought of Poland being referred as a phoenix inspires me.
8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
- LJ, deviantART, FinFanFun (a Finnish forum).. Surprisingly many likes Hetalia :D that's all I can say.
9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
- Hetalia is seen as both humorous manga and a fandom with a deep meaning.
10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
- ... moi moi! Yeah, that's pretty common :'D (but we usually laugh at it just because it's amusing how people who aren't from Finland think that our 'moi moi' sounds cute.. xD oh c'mon, it's just our way of saying 'bye bye'!)

[identity profile] runecat3.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
But it IS cute. :'3 (I suppose "bye bye" is kind of, too. XD Still though...)

1) What country are you from? USA

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia? Yes.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it? Don't know any American Hetalia fans in real life; have to go on what I understand of American fans online. The reaction has been overall positive. Hetalia!America is an accurate portrayal of common stereotypes about America, in his over-the-top personality and interest in things like fast food, ice cream, aliens, etc. Some Americans find him irritating, but still not inaccurate. As a personification of American stereotypes, he is perfect to me. It makes fun of America, but it's more like friendly teasing, with absolutely no cruelty. Himaruya does not make him "too wonderful", but he doesn't make him "too flawed", either. I'm still so glad he was not portrayed as much MORE obnoxious and unlikable (since that stereotypical trait(s) about real life America is rather...persistent, to put it mildly).
He can be painfully clueless, pushy, stubborn, over eager, and childish, yet kind-hearted, optimistic, brave (except when it comes to scary movies), and funny. All his qualities can work for and against him. When I look at him, I do see both what drives me crazy about this country, but also qualities that I do like about it.
So yes, when I look at Alfred F. Jones, I can definitely see America...endearingly, honestly, if exaggeratedly, portrayed.

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country? If I had to choose...I'd say America. I think this is largely because he can be portrayed in fanfiction/fanart/cosplay with the most confidence/least chance of being inaccurate or offensive. Maybe England and Prussia too.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided? Ah, that'd have to be America/England, followed by France/England, IMO. Germany/Italy isn't unheard of, either. But there is PLENTY of variation in preferred pairings here.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted? Haven't heard many American opinions of Feliks, so my experience regarding opinions of his character are limited. Based off of what I've heard online from American fans, some know him as the silly cross dresser. Others, such as fanfiction writers, like to write about him as being a resilient character. I haven't thought a lot about Feliks as a character, but I think he's often a laid-back daydreamer who can be serious when he needs to be.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country? No idea how many Hetalia fans are in my country. Most American fans frequent this LJ community, and pixiv for art.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it? I'd say the majority of Hetalia fans see it for what it is (a humorous manga), although they're comfortable viewing/writing/drawing the characters in a serious, normally respectful manner in discussions/fanfiction/fanart, etc.
Highly direspectful/offensive fans do pop up, but the MAJORITY of the fandom is quick to speak out strongly against this behavior.
Unfortunately, some non-Hetalia fans assume it must be offensive because of its subject matter. They thought it was making light of horrifying historical events, or giving the impression that it was historically accurate when it actually wasn't. :\

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country? Hard to say; we share memes with each other in this fandom all the time; it's difficult to tell if any are isolated to only America. Memes are more of a global thing. I can't think of any that are only used in America.

:3 Hope the answers help; sorry if I rambled.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Haha...I wish... Malaysia was designed I think...(though I heard that it wasn't really a design idk)

I think there's one...but...I never really liked it much... (because I am a weird person that prefers official stuff and designs)
5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
A WHOLE LOAD OF MY FRIENDS DON'T WATCH HETALIA!!! I AM 'HETALIA-LONELY' IN SINGAPORE T_T
6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
USUK, hands down...orz... (so common)

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
Many people in my country think that Hetalia should replace history lessons XDD!! one of my friends commented "If our secondary school teachers give us watch Hetalia instead of textbooks, everyone would get A for history". and she's not even into the Hetalia series... I think she just started watching it or something...
10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
Um...uh...Idk...

I'm not that involved in this fandoms (or others) in my country, but I did some research on what I didn't know, so I hope it is somehow helpful! :D

1) What country are you from?
Portugal

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
No, but there are some unoffical sketches made by Himaruya, so I hope one day it will be~!

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
------

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
No, but there are a lot of OCs used in fanfiction, drawings and cosplays, but usually only by its maker.

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
I would say it's England, because if I remember correctly it had the most cosplayers in the last convention I went to. France, Prussia, Russia and Hungary are also really popular. Plus Italy (both south and north) and... I think Iceland or China.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
Hmm... probably GermanyxNorth Italy, USUK, FrUK, SuFin... I really think it's the same as in most other countries.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
I think so. I mean, I really love him and no one I've ever talked to about Hetalia disliked him, so I assume most people like him.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
I can't really tell how many, but I can say it is a really liked fandom in my country, because whenever I go to conventions I tend to see a lot of cosplayers from Hetalia and a lot of Hetalia merchandise. Also, we celebrated Hetalia Day last year.
We do have a main site where most people go to and there are quite a few Hetalia-related posts there, but since I don't really go there regulary I can't say much more about it.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
From what I see, the humorous part of the manga is talked about much more than the historical part. Actually, I don't remember seeing anyone taking it too seriously. Everyone just loves how funny the characters are.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
I can't remember any, sorry.

I think the reaction to him is overall positive. Of comics that use a stereotypical character for America, Hetalia's America is my favorite because he's balanced. He shows a more balanced representation between the way Americans actually are and the way our government makes us look. He falls in between being a stereotype of the American government and American culture, and I like him a lot. However, I don't really care for the English dubs twist of his character, they've made him into a bit of an asshole and I don't like it (but then again I think that although the dub has its funny moments, most of the jokes are in poor taste and it takes away from the more universal quality of the source work by Himaruya).

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?

N/A

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?

I think most fanworks from the US, involve North American and European countries in some way. This is probably due to the exchange of information between those groups are easier with less of a chance of causing a poor stereotyping offense. Meaning it's way more common to have taken a class on European history than on African history (for example).

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?

One of the most popular I've come in contact with is US/UK, but I think the American fandom is all over the board.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?

I actually don't know a lot of the way that Poland is portrayed in the fandom. In the stuff I have seen though he gets portrayed as a little ditzy, but I have seen him portrayed as a badass as well. I think it usually depends on the genre of the fanwork. If they are going for fluffy, Poland tends to be more goofy, if they are going the historical or serious route, the silliness tends to be portrayed as a facade of the character.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?

I ran into Hetalia at a convention last year through Funimation's promotion, and from seeing the cosplayers walking around. At least in my part of the country (Rocky Mountain west) it seems that Hetalia must have risen in popularity in 2010 because I had been going to that convention for years and don't recall ever seeing a Hetalia cosplayer until last year (might have just been me being unobservant though).

As far as online there are many places, such as the livejournal community, but that's hardly exclusive to just Americans.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?

I've seen it taken both ways, at least in fandom. The people I have been exposed to accept that it is humorous, but that doesn't stop them from addressing a more serious side in fanwork.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?

I think the "I'm a hero!" thing gets used a lot, but I don't think there are any specific memes to any one country really.

1) Czechia

2) no

3) -

4) There are several ones but none is liked by everyone, unlike the original character from Himaruya, who later became Iceland.

5) I'd...say...England or Prussia maybe? But there doesn't seem to be an absolute favourite.

6) Very divided, I think.

7) We simply love him. XD

8) There is this group that chats regularly and those who aren't online see others that are IRL, so I think we work pretty well. But then there are many pseudo-fans that only like Hetalia because it's "in" right now and some that are even worse than that, so I guess there's no way to get an exact number.

9) Apply historical meaning to it, aka see the characters when talking about something that happened, but keep it on a light level, not getting too serious about it.

10) I'm not sure I understand the question fully, but if you mean the typical things then that would be beer(yes, we drink way more than Germans do)and...something you can take home...bohemian glass is propably the most typical souvenir :)

1) What country are you from?
Argentina.

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
Unfortunately, no.

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
----
4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
Well, there is a pretty popular OC called Martín Hernández made by [livejournal.com profile] rowein for the community [livejournal.com profile] latin_hetalia. He is a guy with a HUGE ego, a thing that I think represent us very well xD I've heard that the reason why he is blond and has green eyes (when most of the people here has dark hair and brown eyes) is our European heritage (90% of the population is European descent). And of course, he loves football and can't live without his mate (typical drink).

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
I don't know. Romano, maybe. Prussia, England and Spain are pretty popular too.

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?

Spain/Romano has a lot of fans. But I guess USUK, FrUk, SuFin and GerIta are also very popular pairings.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?

Well, I love him and my friends really like him too, but I don't know what the rest of the people think about him. :|

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?

We have a little group on Facebook. Also, a lot of us are members of [livejournal.com profile] hetalia_esp and [livejournal.com profile] latin_hetalia.
I have no idea how many we are xD A large number, I'd say.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?

I think the people take Hetalia like the humorous manga that it is. Some fans prefer add historical meaning when it comes to fanfiction, cosplay, etc.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?

I don't know, sorry .__.

1) What country are you from? United States

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia? Yes

3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it? No, I actually love the personification of the USA, it's perfect!

4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features? N/A

5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country? I'm not 100% sure, but I'd have to go with Prussia or Russia

6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided? The pairings are pretty divided, but I think USUK is fairly popular.

7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted? The common view is a bit annoying (I fear that my use of the word 'like' makes me sound like him) but he's easily accepted.

8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country? I'm really not sure, other than this site.

9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it? I enjoy adding historical context to Hetalia, but mainly as fanficiton. It's best when talking about the actual manga/anime to take it lightly.

10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country? I don't know
