Hum... Google says it either happened during The Franco-Prussian War ou the Napoleonic Wars. Considering his expression, it seems it's the first one, but I didn't recall France giving troops to Prussia. Just money for reparations.

Oh, I didn't know this fact. Besides, I'd LOVE to see the aftermath of the war with France being so obsessed with Alsace-Lorraine or to crush Germany. (And after that, ellipse to the Elysée Treaty *shot*)

Yes. The troops were used to crush the Paris Commune after that.
I would love it as well. People often forgets how much France resent and feared Germany.
