Question: Ancient Greece

So, a friend told me that she read on Hetalia wiki that Mama Greece was murdered. I just want someone to clarify that Mama Greece was murdered. Because I dont remember anything on canon mentioning that. Perhaps a link to a comic strip or some blog entry please?

Her entry on the Hetalia wiki claims that Turkey is the one who killed her after the fall of the Byzantine Empire

Interesting question!

There actually isn't any canon Hetalia evidence that she was murdered nor are there any strips about this. (Heck, I don't even think Mama Greece has an official design yet, but she might, idk. Correct me if I'm wrong.)The theories on her death are pretty much fanon mixed with historical stuff.

Historically, the theory of Mama Greece being murdered at the hands of the Ottoman Empire is incorrect. The Byzantine Empire was, in fact, what was left of the Roman Empire. The Greek Empire had collapse at least by the time Rome was in his hey day, which was long before Byzantine ever existed. So, from a historical point of view, Ancient Greece died from "old age", similiar to Ancient Rome's demise.

However, in the Hetalia universe, the nation-tan Ancient Greece could've very well been assasinated by Turkey. She, as a person, could've merely been a subject under Rome's control, as opposed to dissapearing with her empire. Once Rome fell, she could've then become the Byzantine Empire (which was mostly in Greece). If that's the case, the yes: She was murdered.

On the other hand, Himaruya could give Byzantine its own nation-tan, which would mean that the more historical death was Mama Greece's fate and the nation-tan of Byzantine Empire was the one murdered by the Turks.

At the end of the day, it's debatable and will only be confirmed with what Hima-san gives us, whenever that may be. I hope my (not so) little comment helped to clear some things up if you were confused.^^

Actually Rome didn't die of old age or when Ancient Rome dissolved.

He was murdered by Germania and he was around with Chibitalia.

Which means he was also the Western Roman Empire and existed at least till 500AD.

:headdesk: I'm such a fail, aren't I? I'm sorry. It's been awhile since I studied Ancient history stuff.

Uh... It was my understanding that Rome grew so large and powerful that he couldn't support himself anymore and collapsed. That's what I gathered from the Chibitalia comics anyway.
