Weird (But Fun) Idea?
I hope I tagged this right. If not...mods please tell me. Argggh, I'm still new at this stuff.
Anyways.
Now, this is going to be weird, but just stay with me now, kay people? Kay.
So, I was roaming through youtube and saw this random video about cosplay. A cosplay project to be correct. It was about this girl from Singapore who cosplays and she started a project about cosplaying. She was going to buy a disposable camera and a scarf and send it off to someone from another country who also cosplays so that person could take a picture of themselves in that cosplay and then send it off to someone else in another country, so on and so forth.
How does this tie into Hetalia? Well...it gave me a great idea. Since, well...it DOES sound like a fun and great idea. At least I think so.
Bear with me please. What I'm getting to is that maybe we should do this? As a whole community, as just...y'know, a world united kinda of thing? IDK.
What I mean is, as Hetalia cosplayers, I would buy a disposable camera and whatever else I decide to send, take a picture of myself in a Hetalia cosplay and then send it on to the next person. Then they take a picture of themselves in cosplay, and send it to another person in a different country/state. Until, well...the photos run out or until a set deadline when the last person has to send it back to me so I can put the pictures up on...somewhere (here maybe?) and then show it off to you guys.
I thought it'd be a great way to help learn about the different cultures out there and just be warm and fuzzy with each other and unite as a community y'know? Doesn't that sound lovely? I think so...=3=
So what do you guys think? Should I do this? Should I not? Any suggestions?
Right now it's just a general idea and I'm still thinking it over. I'd like to know your thoughts!

And, if possible. everyone coulc put something from their country/state, when they send the camera forward ^^ right? Something small, like I would put a pack of salmiakki there :U That way we could "collect" stuff around the world ^^ TO YOU, OF COURSE =7=
But this isn't such a bad idea at all ^^ few pics of cosplay, and stuff~
I'd love that!
Just say, if you need help~

C: I'm glad you like it. xD FFF, and no, ya'll people can keep the souvenirs of the last person who sent you the package, I just get back the digital camera. C:

o3o cool~ so, I send salmiakki to the next person, and she keeps it? Nice idea xD;
-shrugs- I'm just.... Tired, that's why my ideas aren't the best xD;
But about the sending, should you/we do a list, who sends to who? o3o

1. Too many countries/states, not enough film in one disposable camera.
2. Sharing addresses with complete strangers is something many people aren't comfortable with, especially over the internet.
3. Someone could be dishonest and steal the camera. :/
Don't get me wrong, the project is wonderful idea. It's just that there are factors involved that kinda hinder its success. :/ Unfortunate, but true.
Hetalia Day is the perfect opportunity to do this w/out the exchange of a camera. We could all decide on an organizer and said person would receive all of our pics of hetalia cosplayers. It would still be a worldwide effort. Kinda like the hetalia day project that was in place last year. :)

Annnd, your second idea. oAo That kinda lost me, but that's cause I haven't slept like...at all. Explain a bit more? FFF sorry...

Since so many countries/states are taking part in Hetalia Day this year, a whole group shot can be taken at each gathering, then given to the organizer of this project you spoke of. I have no idea what you'd do with them, aside from making a slideshow. I'm assuming that the original creator of the cosplay project wanted the camera back after all the pics were taken, correct?

I was mainly throwing out ideas in order to see if you could still go through with the project, but in a different way.

But sadly I have no Hetalia cosplay.. D:<

Sending packages from abroad are kinda expensive, though. I know it costs around £7.50 to send a book to the US from England, so keep that in mind.

I'm a little iffy on giving out my address over the Internet to complete strangers. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you all Hetalia-ers are awesome people who aren't at all creepers, but still...XD I just get paranoid about those kinds of things...

You send the scarf, a person wears it and takes a picture with their OWN camera and emails you the picture.
Or
A person puts on a scarf, any ol scarf they own, take a picture and send that along. That way each person will be wearing a scarf, in their hetalia costume and theres no worries about posting/adresses and stolen things. =)

I suggest that instead of a camera, why don't we just send out a memory card or a flash drive? It can fit in an envelope (I think). That way, there'd be less chances on someone deciding to keep it for themselves, and it'd be easier to send out.
And maybe we could limit it to the country or continent, so it wouldn't get too expensive or too long when sending and receiving? But then it does defeat the purpose, so I thought we could have a group divided where participants who'd like to just do it inside the country/continent, and participants who are willing to go international.

I love ideas like this, but they seem a little idealistic. Unless you can make absolutely sure every single person is fully willing and can afford to commit to the project, there's more of a chance that the camera/photos will get lost altogether.

Also, suggestion: You could totally put, like, a memory card instead of a disposable camera. That way it could be a lot more pictures. And easier to ship.

that's what I get for not reading comments.

i heard about that project, but i was too late to join so being able to do this would be fantastic ^^
maybe we can mail a world map around also and whoever gets the camera next dots or circles where they are on the map (y'know, china, thailand, canada, etc.) and maybe leave a little note
idk just throwing things out there XD

:D
I mean, I don't cosplay...but DAMN, THAT IS AN INCREDIBLE IDEA.

Maybe if we try it in the US first, and see if it works small scale. If it does, we could get people really committed to the project to do it worldwide!

Thing is, I wouldn't like giving my address out to random people worldwide. Maybe e-mail to people since I know more foreign people online than in real life. Plus, I think it would be hundreds of times faster than snail-mail.

As for the whole address thing, perhaps there could be a set list of who is getting the camera/scarf or whatever next. So when it's your turn to send it to the next person, the next person doesn't need to give their address to the whole world, just the person that they're getting the thing from.

I'll totally participate.
I think it could work if you collected something like a mailing list, and people just went down the line when it was their turn to send it off. Also, I think maybe people could use their own camera and send a picture. That way we're not worrying about people stealing or running out of film.

Mrrr, rambling. sorry~
I'll totes join, but, like so many have said before, I'm a tad nervous about giving out my address over the internet to people I haven't met before. Not to mention shipping is not cheap (found that out the hard way...) and if we're collecting mementos... I'm sure you see where it would go from there.
Don't get me wrong though; I love the idea and I would be more than happy to participate.
Oh, so, if there's a lot of people doing this, have you thought of having, like multiple groups? small ones. Like, a half dozen people or something like a small group of those who're close to each other. It would keep things more organized (I think) and at the very least, there might be more control over where things are and what's going on. Plus, if you do multiple groups, it might help shipping costs going overseas... Or... I think it would...
Bah, I really need to learn to stop rambling!
TL;DR Yes, I'd like to join~ Sounds like fun!
