AX Meetup 2010, help!

Okay so I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna organize a cosplay meetup! (You guys know you want to come -3~)

The thing is, I've never been to AX before, let alone that area of LA! So is there anyone who's been to AX before and knows the area well enough to help me not only pick a location, but would like to help organize? I just need one person and I do have some standards as to who I pick, so please have/be most, if not all of the following:

For a coplanner:
- has been to AX at least once and knows the area well enough to pick a good photoshoot spot (this could be a park, a tourist area, etc)
- will be at least 18 by the time AX rolls around; I ask this because of curfew
- will be booked for all 4 days of AX so we can meet up on Day 0
- after applying, will be dedicated to advertising around different Hetalia-based clubs on and off of LJ
- will be cosplaying and actually attending the meetup
- has a Facebook to help plan

Some things I want to do at the meetup:
- go out to eat
- do a photoshoot at at least 3 different locations
- harass the expo together

I'm going to have one or two friends of mine helping me plan as well, but I'd like to have someone who's been to a meetup and knows how AX works and the location to provide some insight.

So if you meet all the requirements go ahead and leave a message with some of your ideas, if you only meet a few say the ones you don't meet and your plans.

If I pick you, then I'll ask to add you on Facebook so you can be in a message with my other planners and me!

I've been to AX and know the convention and I live in LA, but I'm horrible with finding my way around, so I'm just going to let you know that I'll attend! T_T I'm sorry I'm of no use. Thank you for your hard work though! I can't wait!☆

Oh! I think one of my friends said she went to an APH meetup last year at AX! Maybe you can check on cosplay.com (if you haven't already) for gathering events (I usually find a lot of discussion there.).

Haha, personally, I don't use my Facebook for cosplay stuff, and I know I'm not the only one...

Anyway, the LACC is pretty big, but the main "lobby" area seems to be where lots of people meet up. There's always a corner to grab, too.

But know that AX is huuuuuuuuuuge and the amount of Hetalia people there will be huuuuuge so maybe just make the offer of fooding/outside shooting an availability? As in, "Yeah, we got our group pics, anyone free wanna wander over to xxx location and go shoot?" And don't forget to line up your photographers early!

*nodnod* Good points! I was sort of thinking to meet yup someplace not at the center but at a location near it since I knew it'd be hard to spot everyone. But if we have a specified area and some, idk, Britania Angels with signs we might do it inside the building.

Ehh it depends on the day/time, and I won't be checking in with Facebook, 'cause I don't use it for cosplay.

But for an outside shoot, it may just be easier to get a group together? Depending on if you care if you have doubles or whatnot, of course.

We plan on it being Day 3, time is an unknown since we're not fully planned yet; but feel free to stop by unexpectedly if you do decide to come, and if not, you will be missed ♥

I'll be attending all four days and cosplaying Hetalia. :3 This will be my second time going to AX so I'm super excited!

Unfortunately I'm also not from LA so I am only knowledgeable about the areas almost around the convention center, but not quite. I wondered around on the first day lost so I know the layout pretty well for where are the best places for photoshoots/large gathering area. =_="

I would love to help, but I'm not 18. Oh so barely...;A; I am also planning an Hetalia panel so depending on what time is it on I might go. :)

I'm from LA, but I get lost easily and have only been to AX once before. I don't really use my facebook, and I'm not 18, so I'm not much help in that department either. Plus, I'm really inexperienced when it comes to meetups.

But, if things turn out well, I might attend the meetup with a friend or two. ^^"

I'll be there all days, probably with a few Hetalia cosplays. 8D; I don't know what I'm wearing when so I can't say for sure, but there's a good chance I'll be able to attend this. :3

I'm not 18 so I guess I can't help there, but I have been to AX quite a few times, and... kind of know the area? I don't know if you need help at the actual event or not, but if so I can at least help get peoples' attention/ direct them and whatnot. D8 I know how crazy meet-ups can get. xD;

I'm gonna be at AX, but in all likelyhood, I won't be attending (plus I'm only 17...not that I'll be paying much attention to curfew HURRRR). And IDK what day I'll be wearing my hetalia costume, it really depends on when my England wears hers. Though there's a chance you'll see me roaming around as Kodona!France.

I'm not sure if I'm going to AX yet, partly because I've heard that there have been management issues this year. Also, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but there is actually an official Hetalia gathering being organized by someone on the cosplay.com forums on Day 3 (see thread here (http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=185396)). However, I remember that last year, there were unofficial Hetalia gatherings on other days of the con, so maybe it would be a better idea to have this Livejournal-based gathering on a different day of the convention so that people can go to both gatherings. I wish you luck in organizing this!

I was going to mention that there's likely a thread about a Hetalia gathering at AX (or two or three) on the cosplay.com forum as well. Probably went up the day after the con, too. So check that first.

Also, I'm not sure I heard of management problems so much as the management just changed, or changed direction. It's supposed to be better this year actually.
