Question About Anime

I'm really sorry to be asking about this really unconfirmed thing, but it kind of got me confused.

I saw a comment on this drama CD at YouTube that said:

皆さん、アニメ化に妨害が入りました。公式サイト、原作者様に抗 議が入るとの情報です。今現在「我が国、我が民族、我が文化、そ して我が伝統を軽んじることは容認できない」とアニメ化に伴い韓 国で抗議活動と署名活動が行われてます。

Long story short, this person is saying that there is a disruption in the anime making process. According to this, Korea is protesting that they will not accept the "degradation" of their culture, country, people, etc., and is starting petitions.

Would this be legit? I would think it's too late to start something like that, but then again, it kind of sounds plausible.

I just thought I'd ask for other people's opinion, since this comm's members are much more well versed in this than I.

Here, too.
I would understand about the petitions in S.Korea, but would it be plausible to stop the animation just for that?

Oh, geez, yeah. Everytime I hear more news about the President or anything else involving Korean politics, it makes me wanna hit my head on the desk. I hope their next candidates are at least somewhat of an improvement. XD;

2MB is so great for lulz, though. It's really unfortunate (for him - it's great for the rest of us!) that his name is the way it is ... the amount of nerdy/clever puns on his name is just ... amazing.

I'll admit, I haven't heard too many other than 2MB. What else to they call him?

God, my Dad rattled off a big list of awesome-to-terrible puns with exceptional glee (he's an old-time leftwinger and a born-again Korean netizen), but I think the most popular one after 2MB is 쥐명박/Jui Myung-Bak or 'Rat Myung-Bak'. If you really eyeball the guy, he really, really bears a striking resemblance to a short-sighted rat. Unfortunate, but rather fitting for a corrupt Hyundai ex-chairman. :3

...that's both hilariously terrible and awesome. XDD I should probably ask my dad about some names too. See if he knows any.

Also, I just wanted to say: Thanks a bunch for bouncing around the comments and straightening some people out. Yeah, Koreans can be stubborn jackasses sometimes (as a Korean-American, I've seen plenty - not to mention that they loooove their protests), but some of these comments are kinda borderline offensive. Thanks for your efforts, dude. :)

Koreans + homonyms = trouble. Always.

I'm more than happy to contribute. Being a truth-obsessed busybody sort of helps drive my desire to inform people about things they wouldn't personally be able to access (but still are lead to think it's okay to comment without some sit-down time). X)

That and it's really easy for me to deconstruct Korean nationalist attitudes (my dad is a prime example of the left-wing nationalist, which is a weird concept, but those are Koreans for you), which a lot of other Koreans are uncomfortable doing/unable to do. Being a cynical foreign-born failure (oh the amount of wry smiles I get when Koreans around here figure out I'm gyopo) can be useful sometimes. ;D

Hey, truth-obsessed busybodies are always fun to have around. XD

Ah, wry smiles. That's one of the reasons why I like to hide from any ajuma (if that's how it's spelled - I have yet to figure out how to type in Korean) that wander around.

I look weird for a Korean (my eyes are HUGE and I have the coveted double-lid ... it's not that great), so I just tell them I'm Chinese. >:3

And god, Korean romanisation changes about every five years because the governments can never decide on one. Freehand is fine! Sometimes it just makes more sense that way. D:

Really? That's how my brother and dad are - my bro gets mistaken as Chinese. Or Cambodian, which threw us off. XD

Oh, romanization. Every time my grandmother sends us a package from Korea, they always end up spelling the city differently. I can only laugh.

I think the grade of randomness in being mistaken for another Asian ethnicity gets bigger the farther outside of enclaves you get. I knew a Filipina who was asked if she were Mexican when she was down in Dallas. XD

I think I've seen things like ... Incheon, Inchun, Inchon, Inchung ... then variants with dubious accents over the vowels.
