Question About Anime

I'm really sorry to be asking about this really unconfirmed thing, but it kind of got me confused.

I saw a comment on this drama CD at YouTube that said:

皆さん、アニメ化に妨害が入りました。公式サイト、原作者様に抗 議が入るとの情報です。今現在「我が国、我が民族、我が文化、そ して我が伝統を軽んじることは容認できない」とアニメ化に伴い韓 国で抗議活動と署名活動が行われてます。

Long story short, this person is saying that there is a disruption in the anime making process. According to this, Korea is protesting that they will not accept the "degradation" of their culture, country, people, etc., and is starting petitions.

Would this be legit? I would think it's too late to start something like that, but then again, it kind of sounds plausible.

I just thought I'd ask for other people's opinion, since this comm's members are much more well versed in this than I.

Here, too.
I would understand about the petitions in S.Korea, but would it be plausible to stop the animation just for that?

I hope it won't be the case, too D:

yeah, i never knew if it was true or not, some friends told me about anyway. supossedly hikago ended abruptly because in some chapter the protagonist wins in a game against a korean boy and well korea complained about it and hikago ended just like that OTL... ohhh i hope isn't the case *rolls anxiously*

...but he didn't win, the Korean boy won.

maybe they didn't like how the korean boy was portrayed? I can't remember his name, but he wasn't very nice if I remember right...
Ah, but I heard it's just a rumor!

Hikaru thought he was a jerk, but Ko Yongha actually hadn't said the things Hikaru thought he had. Yongha decided to play along with the misunderstanding to see what Hikaru would do. He wasn't the nicest, but he wasn't a bad character, either. And I think Hikago was very popular in Korea.

Maybe she's talking about Su Yon. Though that'd be REALLY odd since Hikaru won against him like 1423489 chapters from his match with whatshisfaceprettyboy.

(Um... do I need to add spoiler tags?)

Yeah, definitely. She was talking about the manga ending abruptly, and it doesn't end anywhere near Su Yon's defeat. Only Yongha's win. And considering how hugely popular Hikago was in Korea...

Yeah, there's a reason behind it, too.

In the 9th tankoban, Hikaru won against Su Yon, which set the Koreans off in a riot because they believe that the top of the international go sphere is in Korea, and therefore there is no reason why a Japanse kid should be allowed to win against a Korean kid.

So to quell them, the author wrote that Hikaru lost against Yong Ha...but then that got the Japanese readers in a panty twist...

At that point, she just said "Fuck it" and then stopped it.

Really? Huh! And to think I never heard about that.

It's weird, because I really actually like how it ends with Yongha winning. I would never have guessed the ending was unintentional.
