So I learned something interesting this evening. All hail the book store!

Like all little kids in the United States of Alfred, I learned that Columbus discovered America. So that's totally wrong, but anyway. We kinda learned that America was named for Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian navigator who sailed with Columbus. This comes from someone noting it on a map (and changing it later). Thing is, land wasn't named for the Christian name (first name) but for the given/family/last name. So no Amerigo.

Enter Richard Ameryk, a wealthy merchant from Bristol, England who funded a voyage that reached America 2 years before Columbus. And get this - ol' Rich was also the main investor in John Cabot's 2nd voyage to America in 1497, landing somewhere in Newfoundland. His ship was named the Matthew.

Kick ass.

And then, of course, there was Leif Erikson, the Norse dude who totally landed in Canada waaaaaaaaaaaay back when - I always thought Alfred and Matt looked more like Norway and Finland than they do Arthur and Francis :-D

I hope i'm doing this right but I just recently found out i'm going to be able to go to New york anime fest this year and started wondering if any of the Russia cosplayers I know are going. None are. So I started wondering about the Russia I'd once met and had taken the single most awesome cosplay picture ever with. I've wanted to find that Russia since springfest ny 2010. She was dressed as Plushenko!Russia complete with wig and scarf and got me on my knees while she dug her heal into my back (lol not really it didn't hurt). Well, fairly recently, the website posted its epic two year anniversary event called Kickassia, wherein Team TGWTG tried to take over this micronation located in Nevada called Molossia (it actually exists), and rename it Kickassia, with the Nostalgia Critic as its president. Naturally, things go haywire, as distrust brews and the stresses of handling the responsibilities of ruling an acre of land begin getting to the Critic.

Title:  How to Save a Life - Chapter Five

Warnings: So much angst, the title is trying to slit its wrists right now. Emotional turmoil, depressing Arthur, depression, self harm, etc.
Summary: Not sure how to summarize this one. Here goes: Arthur doesn't know where he belongs in life. Whether he's supposed to be alive or dead, he'll have to decide for himself. And as a fairly new transfer student, and someone that really has no clue what he's doing, the decisions he makes are going to be harder than ever. Okay, so that summary is a fail. Just know that this story is depressing and confusing and self-discovery, and angst, and the list goes on.

Oh yeah, this is a high-school AU. Sorry. And it's a messed up high school AU, 'cause I really don't know how a high school functions.
