HOMG, even if I don't understand a word of what they're saying, ITS SO CUTE. :D

Thanks for sharing!

It's nice that she is sharing, but as a translator I would really appreciate it if you wouldn't post things like "calling translators" and "translate moar!!" like we're at your beck and call. It's fine to post things, but please don't expect people to translate them. We're all only doing this in our spare time.

I agree with this comment. Some restraint from the poster would be nice ! : >

IAWTC. It's true. Translators have friends, and work, and school. They have lives too, just like you. >: They're doing this for free, so don't prod them like that, because they translate because they like to, not because they're obligated.

These comic strips are also in Hetalia the Book. Which I wish somebody will scan because I AM NOT SCANNING MINE. :D <---is lame.

As a translator, though, I know for a fact that we'd like to see more translated, but a lot of us have our hands full. There's a link on the community page if you'd like to see what we're doing at the moment. Hetalia doesn't have a strict chapter lineup, so we're mostly doing what we feel like at the time. If someone likes this enough, they'll pick it up, no need for requesting. ^^

With the format of Hetalia being what it is, it's hard to do an organized effort. Canon isn't very well organized either...I don't think we have a proper translation group, just a bunch of people doing their own thing. So it's not really random, we all have ideas what we want to do, but it's not a system, either.

You don't know? :o This was big news a few months ago. Hetalia came out in book form---a bunch of new strips, color pages and some old favourites like Storage Cleaning---and sold immensely well. I think it's the success of the book that prompted the anime, really. The book was really nice and I liked a lot of the stuff in it. As for cost...er, I forgot. Been sometime since I bought mine, and I can't check right now because I'm in the lab. You can check with AmazonJP, though.

Yes. :D The Hetalia manga is called 'Hetalia the Book'. XD I don't think there is a fanbook, though. Maybe there was one in the Get the World event last year, but I'm pretty sure that I'd have heard of it by now, with the extent that I prowl the Japanese fandom. XD;

Haha, the Hetalia doujinshi scene is very enjoyable if you know the right circles. :3 I recommend the 'fic' doujins though, if you can read them, most of the 'manga' doujins don't have much substance yet. (Unless you get some of the Coveted Circles' like Hoshitamago, in which case I will hate you forever if you don't share!)

I HOPE it's not the same as Higurashi's animator team, seeing it's the same studio. Dear god.

DO YOU EVEN HAVE TO ASK IF WE WANT IT?! XDDDDD I think it's pretty clear that we joined this comm for one thing only dawdawhaw.

[identity profile] tsuchinoko.livejournal.com 2008-09-10 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
O: I'mma ask m' friend if she can translate it for me and then I'mma edits that. Will credit your friend-o for scans.

[identity profile] tsuchinoko.livejournal.com 2008-09-10 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
XD Just the m' parts. Temporary thing, really, dawhaw. I'll probably change writing again tomorrow, ehe.

T'will do! o/

[identity profile] tsuchinoko.livejournal.com 2008-09-10 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
XDDD Umuuu, you better ask permission first! I'll ask my friend if she's interested. I think she'll only translate works she likes.

She has a hard time speaking english so it might take a super, super long time to translate even one doujin! But I'll ask anyway! But make sure you don't get arrested by then! XD

Try and look for other candidates too! O:

[identity profile] tsuchinoko.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The best thing you can do is put information about the doujin, like title and mangaka/group circle. And then leave an email for them to contact you if they want their doujin taken down and stuff. O:

[identity profile] tsuchinoko.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
OH! And also to recommend having the doujin bought to support the artist. o/!!

I translated them... some of it I couldn't see, or felt a little awkward, but I like to keep things as directly t/led as possible without 'americanizing' phrases. I also don't know who every character is, so they're kind of just translated lines... sorry! I don't think it should be hard to follow (hopefully) though! So~... enjoy!

Card 1
You idiot!
Why did you form an alliance with Italy?
Th-there are a lot of reasons. Isn't it better to have more allies than to be alone?
No! There's a possibility that even now while we're talking, they could be ??? (kanji too small to see)
I'm going to demonstrate how angry I am by playing the piano.
Alright, go ahead.
*playing*
Were you able to understand?
Your anger is Chopin?

Card 2
Hello, I am Japan. Now that I've formed an alliance with these two, there are quite a lot of things about European culture that surprise me.
E-excuse me, to me, it looks like you're eating something that I can't quite believe you're eating...
Um... it looks like snails.. or something...
Seems like it's called "Escargot" from French cuisine.
It's France nii-chan (older brother)'s ??? (I think its like 'mysteriously good cooking!' or something). Will Japan eat too?
No thank you! I just ate rice balls a while ago!
The European culture is bizarre!

Card 3
I'm back, everyone---
Ah, welcome back, Mr. Russia!
Today was the council meeting, wasn't it? Thanks for your hard work.
Everyone was there today, weren't they? Was Mr. America doing well?
(Thinking) Hey, Lithuania, you can't tell Mr. Russia about American relations!
Ah--- sorry to change the topic, but there's food ready. Will you have some?
W-Welcome back. I'm glad you came home safe.
I was worried everyone would call you ??? (kanji too small to see... something about being a heavy drinker?) or a cold-hearted Frenchman.
Latviaaaa!

Card 4
Yes! We found them. I wonder what they're doing?
Yeah... it looks like a campfire.
It's amazing that just sticking a roasted marshmallow between biscuits can taste this good.
The best part is now the inside is melty and the outside is crispy.
What, they're making fun of us! We're going to do it too!
Huh...?
A campfire! We're going to roast marshmallows!
(kanji is too small to read well... basically he's muttering song-like gibberish "Crimson of the fire~..." etc)
It sounds like you're calling out a demon!
