I want it to be Moldova (I'm fairly sure Romania only has one fang, after all?), but, the hat's confusing me. xD
Plus after all that secrecy about his face-- showing it to us now like it's no big deal is just. Weird. I mean Hima would do that, but.

romania's only drawn with one fang (that has a habit of switching sides), but if it's a front-one view then it stays on the right. we also got a glimpse at the back of moldova's head, and his hair was much darker. . . not to mention romania's canonically stated that moldova's his little brother.

the thing about moldova is that it's got a lot of stuff that people mistake as romanian and vice versa. or is actually romanian lmao. the moldovan language, for example, is really just another dialect of romanian. it wouldn't surprise me if the little hat/fangs are familial markers a la england's huge eyebrows or the italians' curls. there should always been room for doubt, but that's who i'd put my money on.

and yes i just want to give him a hug ; ~; poor kid

The only problem with the hair thing is everyone's hair has been changing as Hima's art gets better. So. Ffff. We can't even count on that anymore.


So hats are now a genetic feature.
Just because this is Himaruya I am willing to accept that.

Okay. Hat actually on his head is Romania. Hat floating in the air above him is Moldova. Then if all else fails, fang count. That sound about right? xD

Then again, maybe the hat doesn't float all the time and it's only doing so here to illustrate how forcefully the mystery boy is crying. And now that I think about it, Lithuania's hair is usually shaded in black and white art, even as recently as the last Birz installment he appeared in, and yet there is no shading here. Consistency? What's that? Does it taste good? XD

Even as much as I adore Lithuania, I really did have to double check the title in the blog to make sure it was him-- to me, he looks extremely different from the usual Lithuania. In a good way, of course, but still.

So if Liet can change that much, then cute kid having darker hair than Romania doesn't flat out mean "not Romania", even if that is most likely the case.
If he hadn't made such a deal over not showing us Moldova's face before then everything would make sense. Hima's just so odd. <3

Really though I want that hat to still float when he's not crying. It's cute. ;w;

the thing is that romania canonically has a little brother named moldova, but we don't have any hints of an older brother. . . and correct me if i'm wrong, but i can't think of a country that would count as an older brother for romania and still be a member of the eastern bloc. i don't know, it might not be moldova, but i really doubt it's romania. himaruya has never drawn romania with two fangs before, despite the fact that they switch sides.

Yeah, it's for sure canon that Romania and Moldova are brothers, I'm not arguing it in any way ;w;
It's just it's Japan, so you never know-- "oni-chan" isn't exclusive to your actual older brother. He could just as easily be crying to Pru or Liet.


BUT (unless my history sucks-- which it does, but still) Russia should be the majority of the reason that Moldova and Romania are separate characters, right? So during the time that they're all together, Moldova should be a little bitty cutething. So. it works. xD
