"it's a small world after all" has always been my favourite thing in the world. Then when I discovered yaoi and then Hetalia it was like the big gay version of "it's a small world"!!!!!!!!!!
I-I don't know to be honest... ;A; I just love clichés, so Hetalia was a more appropriate way to make those funnier without being an absolute idiot...?
I don't know. I just love everything about it... It's so funny, so true and because they're all countries, nearly every pairing is canon. /shot.
I have absolutely no idea. I knew of it years back, but didn't think much of it. Then, earlier this year, I wanted to find a Phillipines character (without knowing who the characters.are except that they were countries) to help me memorize my history. I have not looked back since for reasons I can never explain.
I love history, I always have. This makes it just even more fun for me to talk about and fangirl over history! xD Plus it gives me reasons to learn more history, even if it's just so I can have some basis for a ship.
Yay! I'm awake! I love Hetalia because it makes me happy. Because it allows me to look at the world without cringing at failed politics and screwed up governments and all the usual crap. Because it legitely gives me hope for something better. And because the fandom is one big insane family that makes me feel ridiculously loved.
haha, I don't have anything touching.... Orz.... But I love Hetalia because it's a parody on history and personified countries which attracted me somehow... It's not even the yaoi that attracts me since I never thought of the yaoi when I was into Hetalia, it's only after I joined the fandom that I started become a shipper LOL! I also thought that I would be able to perharps get closer with my RPing friends that got me into it in the first place. but sadly, they hate it now Orz.. and I don't even know why and I'm afraid to ask why too @_@ But Hetalia, I love the fandom of it, even though there are some childish ones, I don't really care about them, XD! And I would stay in the fandom and never leave it despite how childish fans act. Because I know that it's the series that I enjoy, and there are other more wonderful and mature fans around. The Hetalia fandom gave me so many wonderful friends, hetalia day this year was the best (For a first timer this year) =w= hm...can't think of anymore to add LOL
I like Hetalia because it makes learning history about anything more interesting and it's a unique idea to represent country relationships like being big brothers. It is also really lighthearted which is amazing considering the time that the main story is set in. All the characters are flawed and there is not much bias. Plus I absolutely adore every single person in this crazy, crazy fandom.
Because there's people like you, so amazing and lovely, that have the power to keep me up all night just to follow an online webcomic together. It doesn't matter where you are from or what your timezone is, when the event starts, the only thing that's relevant is party hard and enjoy yourself. Because there's Himaruya, that organizes these events - they deprive us of sleep and make our stomachs growl, our homework wait, our eyes bleed and our skin go pale, but they also tie us together. Because Hetalia links people. Because it's funny to the point of demential, but it can also get extremely sad and dramatic. Because of the RPG-games, of the FBgroups, of this LJpages.. Because of HetaHazard, HetaQuest and HetaOni, which are absolutely marvelous. "To the me, that lives at some point in time and is NOT all alone.." Because when I read the news, imagining it Hetaliafied makes them clearer, simpler and sometimes even more acceptable. Even if my country is going through some serious shit. Because if a country is a person and not a landmass, you tend to think of war as a fight were someone might get hurt - the people of that country, those who make that country what it is, especially. Because of the art - every style is accepted, every story is fine, every cosplay is cool, everyone can make something. And it's so incredibly inspiring, since there are tons of countries and everyone is different! Because of the music - From the MaruKaite Chikyuu to the characters' song, to the HetaOni soundtracks to the playlist on Thread 1. We were listening to Multilanguage Circle of Life together, all over the world. That sounded like world peace. Because of us, because We are Hetalia. :)
I went to some really, really bad schools, and history class was always absolute torture. We just learned the same things over and over and over, and one of those was World War II. I lost a ton of relatives then, and I could never even think about it without getting upset. I certainly never thought I'd read about it voluntarily.
Also, I've always had anxiety problems, and I could only watch the news for a few minutes without getting scared and leaving.
Also, also, I thought that my grandparents had completely Americanized and left me with no culture whatsoever.
Cue Hetalia, and now, World War II = cute characters instead of dead relatives, and the news makes me giggle. I've collected a bunch of pictures of the towns that my family came from and found out that I have a ton of Russian traits that I never knew about, so, I have less anxiety and don't feel bland and uncultured anymore. Never underestimate the healing power of humor. <3
I suppose I originally became intrigued by the concept, (countries as people- What- OH MY GOSH EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD FINALLY MAKES SENSE NOW!!!) but I kept reading because I fell in love with the characters ; w ; I wanted to get to know their quirks and personalities, their back stories, not to mention the comics were so funny and Himaruya had such a cute style that still had a lot of character to it <3 I became so excited for him when I found out his works were going to published, and it even became an anime!
Anyway, I guess I should say I still love it because the Artist is an amazing person, the fandom is so huge and from every corner of the world, and the characters themselves rekindled the optimism I once had as a little kid- like how the world isn't so bad after all, and maybe, just maybe, we could see world peace sometime during my life-span :)

And I agree with everyone else~ I love it just because of everything, because of history, comedy, fanwork, ... EVERYTHING, I can't write it down. qwq
And thanks to Hetalia I got to know a lot of awesome people who are very dear to me~ *__*
YOU ASKED FOR IT. >D
