I was initially amused by the way they wrote the announcement, but then they landed in the common pitfall of thinking that "awesome" is the only positive adjective that Prussia knows, and assuming that they needed to use it every other word :(

Maybe that's stupid and nitpicky, but I don't know any of those actors except Colleen Clinkenbeard so I can't really comment on those choices ^^;

...That was more a joke over the fact that he'd not had post-war economic problems? His hobbies are stuff like archaeology, he's good at science, he's shown reading for fun at numerous points, his speech pattern is actually quite intelligent (in the original Japanese), etc. He's not braindead. He's a huge failboat like every other Hetalia character, but yeah. ^^;

Oh, I wouldn't take it that seriously. They were RP-ing Prussia, not writing an official character bio.

I try to defend America's intelligence as much as any fangirl, but I didn't mind them slipping in that little joke. America acts simple-minded, and that's how a lot of people see him. No biggie.

Well it's pretty much standard Funimation America characterization? So it's just more of the same, if you know what I mean. If it were the first thing like this, I'd be more like you. And I actually think it's kind of OOC of Prussia (I'm not a fan of how they characterize him XD).

Yeah, I guess I could understand/appreciate that. I suppose the reoccurring lulzy characterization doesn't bother me so much because I know it's FUNi's job to market Hetalia to be as funny and off-the-wall as possible, to help market it to an American audience.
They know there are more hardcore fans out there who know that there's way more than that, but they gotta think about 90% of their demographic, which just wants to have a good laugh.
I'm just glad as long as they properly dub most of America's serious moments, like episodes 17 & 20, which they did. So at least they're not that far off ;)

I have to admit, I'm a little surprised at how much attention FUNImation pays to fanon. Gilbird isn't Prussia's bird's official name. It's completely fanon. I find their use of it hilarious and yet endearing. XD
