[Fanart] Hetalia makes us Americans learn geography good.

ROFL so this is mouse-drawn and fails, but I had to share it.

Sooooo, I was researching for fic reasons, and idly began looking up country sizes. Along the way, I learned some surprising things, and this resulted.

Title: That's My Spot, Aru!
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] clover_magic
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Russia, Canada, America, China, France, England, Japan, Germany, Italy
Rating: G
Warnings: Safe for even Sealand!
Summary: The ranking of the main countries by size may surprise you a bit.

------

Unsurprisingly, Russia is largest, at near twice the size of the next-largest country, Canada.
China and America swap places depending on what you count as China's territory. This is because of around 50,000 kilometers squared of disputed territory with India.
One that really surprised me is that Japan is larger than Germany by over 20,000 kilometers squared, making him actually the largest country in the Axis Powers.
Of the Allies and Axis Powers, England is smallest at number 79, having only 242,900 kilometers squared of territory, and this includes Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Yay for learning?

Thanks! It's nice to know little tidbits like this.

.............REALLY? neat.

Haha, I learned that bit from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Does that make me more, or less, of a nerd? ^^;;;

[identity profile] dappledwings.livejournal.com 2009-03-12 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
And the best bit is?
I think England has the most accents out of all of these put together.
Different ones I mean.

[identity profile] dappledwings.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, apparently, when the Australian rugby league lads first came over, they got so confused by all the different accents. I mean, in a 20 mile radius we have multiple variations on the same sort of accent, going from Mancunian to Scouse with a bit of Lancastrian mixed in for good luck.

Hell yeah. :)

Of course our Aussie boys got confused... We all have basically the same accent (except for the 'minor' changes between states (like the dance/dance scenario we have over 'ere, and the very very 'stereotypical' one that very few people have... ) so you lot being so much smaller and having so many different ones confuses us poor outbackers a bit... XD

I never would've thought Germany was smaller than Japan (and my horrible mind is thinking horrible innuendos for this, but anyway~)

Hetalia does make us Americans study geography, doesn't it...?

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2009-03-12 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Japan is certainly longer than Germany... ohoho...

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2009-03-12 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
And people wonder why even Himaruya draws England shorter than the 175 cm he's supposed to be... :D;; The UK is not very big, and England itself is, well, small, at least compared to the likes of USA, Russia, etc. It's funny that even right after WWI he was the largest of them all (with cca. 33,670,000 km² according to Wikipedia). Unfortunately for him, it didn't last long.

(okay, how the fuck did I manage to delete this?!)

cute ^o^ the last bit especially~

[identity profile] mitsukirox101.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
lol XD and the ironic thing is that Japan is the shortest in the Axis Powers but he is the biggest country

i love learning all these random facts of the world

Eeeheheheeee, this is so cute! Love the kids at the bottom of the list, there.

So, is the difference for China really India??

[identity profile] aerlyn.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
...and Sealand is sitting in the corner, crying. Look at what you did!

Hm. America would be third if they were ranked by population, but then he would lose to China by quite a bit. I wonder what he would prefer...

haha, clever depiction! yay learning :3
