A questionnaire - Fandoms in different countries
Hello Everyone!
I have a favor to ask for – that’s to fill the questionnaire below.
I’m writing an article for Polish Hetalia FanSite (www.hetalia.org) about fandoms in foreign countries and how people in different countries see Hetalia. Obviously, my knowledge of these is quite limited and therefore I need help of Hetalia fans – you! The questionnaire will consist of around 10 questions and will ask about more general view on certain topics within your country rather than your own. It will take you only about 15 minutes to complete – only few sentences of an answer will be enough! - But it will be such a great help for me!
So here goes the questionnaire:
1) What country are you from?
2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia?
3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it?
4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features?
5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country?
6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided?
7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted?
8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country?
9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it?
10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country?
And that is it :D!
Thank you all for taking part in this questionnaire! It means a lot!

2) Was your country already made a character of Hetalia? No. And most of us from the HetaPH comm do not mind that, contrary to popular opinion.
3) If it was, how fans in your country reacted to that personification? Do you guys like it or is there something you would like to change in it? There was that one horrifying moment when everybody was abuzz with the Asia3=Philippines hoax and how scared we were at how the politicians would think. But since that isn't true, then we all calmed down.
4) If not, is there an ‘official’ OC that was made in your fandom in place of your missing country? How does it looks like, how does it reflect upon your country's features? One of the most popular OCs in the HetaPH comm is Maria, whose second name varies according to the author (I used to use Clara, my friends used Isabella, Aurora, Salome, and many others), and whose last name can either be delos Santos, dela Cruz, or Carriedo. She usually has long dark hair, tan skin, a cheerful personality with a hot temper, and is usually a hard-working Roman Catholic girl...who loves taking naps and traveling. XD There's a lot more to her than that, and personally, I think she fits most of the people in Luzon...she doesn't look much like a girl from Mindanao. For that purpose, there are also those who use the triplets (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao); they are usually male, but one of my friends made a female version, too. And before I entered the community, a male version of the Philippines was popular. His name is Juan.
5) Can you define who is the most popular character of Hetalia in your country? If you were to count the Prussia cosplayers in the last HetaDay Manila's pictures...then I would have to say him, hands down.
6) What about the pairings? Is there any pairings that seems to be liked by the most of people in your country or is it very divided? Oh, it's rather very divided - amongst the canonxOC pairs, that is. Most of us who want to see the canon pairs come here to the main comm; the PH comm's been divided recently over USPH, MexPH, SpainPH, and a myriad of other concoctions (I actually ship UKPH myself, but don't worry, that doesn't make me a weird person, I ship canon pairs too!). Two of my friends have been spreading the FrUK love along the way, though, and they're rather popular.
7) What is the most common view on the character of Poland? Is the Feliks, how he was created by the author, easily accepted? He's an adorable crossdresser who happens to be one of the most resilient Nations in the series. There's more to him behind the dress, if you were to ask me.
8) How does the fandom in your country works? Do you have any particular site or a forum that most of fans seem to use? Can you tell how many Hetalia fans, approximately, there is in your country? We usually post in the Hetalia PH LJ community (http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia_ph), and usually not stray so far, for fear we might be seen by the people outside LJ, who are...not exactly very friendly. We also come here to the main comm a lot of times, too. One of my friends, Lixi, had a fanart post here and was very well-recieved. The fics I post here are quite well-received by the nice people here at LJ, too. It's really hard to put a number on it, because most of the Filipino Hetalians are lurkers, and some of them live in other countries.
9) Is Hetalia seen more of a humorous manga that shouldn’t be taken seriously? Is many people trying to apply actual historical meaning to it? I think that the series itself should be taken with a grain of salt, but there are so much lovely fanworks that give us a new spin on history and are definitely worth the miles of footnotes.
10) Is there any popular memes (for example: Iceland's white boots, Hotland’s…pardon me, Netherlands’ tulips etc.), sayings, tags that you see as common only in your country? In what we now call "the Golden Age of Hetalia Philippines", there used to be a shirtless Spain meme that became really popular...now, there's been a sudden influx of May-December romances.
