[Scanlation] Main Chapter 3 : G-R Nonaggression Pact?

A few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] rainy_takako and I ran into a somewhat awkward incident in which we discovered we've both been working on scanlating Chapter 3. Well, that incident turns out happily, as it means we can actually get the thing out of the door faster, and here it is! Hope you like the our work, guys! Without further ado!

Author's note : In the war, Italian tanks took one week to reach a target 60 kilometers away, but once they saw English troops, retreated the same distance in one day.

Photobucket
Author's note : There's a legend that goes how an Italian corps all deserted upon running into the English, and then gets caught by stupid reasons...like hitting on women or sleeping in a restaurant.

Author's note : England's famous Busby Stoop Chair has reputedly cursed 61 people who sat on it to death...
Translator's note : This strip was redrawn for Hetalia The Book, where it is made clearer that the chair exploded because Russia is more evil than the chair.

Why did England and America fight?

Photobucket
France and Native Americans once fought the English colonies in a territorial dispute (The French-Indian War). Thanks to England's reinforcements, America managed to defeat France and the Indians and acquired more territories.
Photobucket
At this point, however, England's characteristic tsundere-ness selfishness ('don't buy tea from anyone except me', 'don't be close to anyone except me') had created a good deal of animousity for America. Though part of it was caused by his economy getting strained by supporting the latter in the war,
Photobucket
That's when America fought England to earn its freedom. By the way, though England won at first, America managed to turn the tables at the last minute and achieved victory.
Photobucket
And now, the present. Fight, England, fight!

The book is 1050 yen, right? 20 USD might be undercutting it a little, HAHA OH MAN. My bank account, it is sobbing. I think the other sites' prices might be just as bad, I'll have to ask about it. SIGH.

I refuse to let myself get caught in doujin. My bank account wouldn't just cry, it would come to life and murder me in my sleep.

I'm aware of the general rule that 100 yen = more or less 1 dollar, but the dollar has been such shit lately that I assumed 1050 meant closer to 13 or 14 dollars than 10 or 11. Add that with the shipping cost and I imagined it's approx. 20 dollars. Even if it's less than that, it won't be by much... It's not that I don't have 20 dollars, it's just that it's all that money for... one tank. The one tank I covet the most in the world right now, but only one regardless. I can buy like 5 tanks of anything else for the same amount of money, sob.

... I've already experienced going through Yahoo auction and coveting things so bad I thought I was going to die, so it wouldn't be a foreign experience? The Japanese internet has taught me much about materialistic wishes that will never be fulfilled, sigh.

I'll try and look for a site that does regular, because like HELL am I paying 30 extra dollars for shipping. Or maybe I'll eBay it. And then I'll receive the tank approximately this time next year.

I've been a part of Oofuri fandom since last June, but it cooled down considerably a couple months ago when I started branching into other stuff. And now it's safe to say Hetalia's my "main" fandom since it's all I'm arting/talking about. So the tank's probably worth it if I can find a site where the shipping's not insane.

edit; YM conversation just now:

Takako Ikeda: What was that site you linked me for the hetalia tank again?
Takako Ikeda: I'm trying to find a site that sells it and ships internationally via regular mail
Saizou Okita: Wait
Saizou Okita: actually
Saizou Okita: we're sending it to you. ;3;
Takako Ikeda: Wat.
