[Scanlation] Main Chapter 3 : G-R Nonaggression Pact?

A few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] rainy_takako and I ran into a somewhat awkward incident in which we discovered we've both been working on scanlating Chapter 3. Well, that incident turns out happily, as it means we can actually get the thing out of the door faster, and here it is! Hope you like the our work, guys! Without further ado!

Author's note : In the war, Italian tanks took one week to reach a target 60 kilometers away, but once they saw English troops, retreated the same distance in one day.

Photobucket
Author's note : There's a legend that goes how an Italian corps all deserted upon running into the English, and then gets caught by stupid reasons...like hitting on women or sleeping in a restaurant.

Author's note : England's famous Busby Stoop Chair has reputedly cursed 61 people who sat on it to death...
Translator's note : This strip was redrawn for Hetalia The Book, where it is made clearer that the chair exploded because Russia is more evil than the chair.

Why did England and America fight?

Photobucket
France and Native Americans once fought the English colonies in a territorial dispute (The French-Indian War). Thanks to England's reinforcements, America managed to defeat France and the Indians and acquired more territories.
Photobucket
At this point, however, England's characteristic tsundere-ness selfishness ('don't buy tea from anyone except me', 'don't be close to anyone except me') had created a good deal of animousity for America. Though part of it was caused by his economy getting strained by supporting the latter in the war,
Photobucket
That's when America fought England to earn its freedom. By the way, though England won at first, America managed to turn the tables at the last minute and achieved victory.
Photobucket
And now, the present. Fight, England, fight!

Oh dear god, thank you both so, so much for this. I love Italy so hard; I don't think I've ever been so randomly proud to be an Italian. "IGNORE HIM, AND SING, EAT, OR SLEEP LIKE A TRUE ITALIAN!"

and I love how Russia is more evil than the cursed chair. <3<3

I SERIOUSLY CANNOT EXPRESS MY THANKS FOR THIS. *grovels*

[OOC: I felt really bad for this, but at first I thought the chair exploded because Russia was too fat big-boned for it. XD;;]

[identity profile] a-liger.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 02:07 am (UTC)(link)

Mr. Hidekaz, in only so many words and so many drawings you made me understand the American war for independence, better than several years of high school. I salute you.

Italy, you're hilarious, I salute you. ^^

US, you're too tall, LOL!

And I salute you guys for translating all of this. ^^v

[identity profile] konkira.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'm glad it all worked out, thanks for translating you two <3

- I think you forgot to put in the Author notes after Italy's 'special helmet' strip about the Nation's heights.

[identity profile] windyshoot.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I never studied the American Independence War in school very much, so I really liked the little chibi-drawing paragraph! Wiki articles were too looong~

And lol at Russia pwning evil chair!

[identity profile] rainy-takako.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wewt, we did it! Finally. XD

This strip was redrawn for Hetalia The Book, where it is made clearer that the chair exploded because Russia is more evil than the chair.

I thought it was pretty obvious... I need to buy the book orz.

Lol @ Italy's outfit - I thought it was a schoolgirl's outfit at first. Oh Italy, it's amazing your uselessness doesn't get you killed - being caught in Russian territory = very bad.

Thanks for the translations, guys. They're really good and clean.

[identity profile] crazie-eyes15.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Amen to that... and this reminds me of a miltary tactic for the Russians in WWII that I was reminded of.

Apparently, they knew that the Germans had planted mines (*cough*Italysfault*cough*), and the Russian's most powerful weapons were these huge tanks. Soooo, in a twisted genius move (more twisted than genius, really, but it worked) they sent out a bunch of uninformed peasant footsoldiers to blow up the landmines and protect the tanks.

THIS, in my humble opinion, is why Russia exploded the cursed chair. X3 HE HAS SENT MANY MORE PEOPLE TO DIE THAN IT HAS. Seriously, 61 people versus HUNDREDS of your own troops... oh, Russia.

[identity profile] liralicia.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
ah, I missed Italy's strips XD. Thank you so much!

[identity profile] keikanas.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
