Quick question
I'm brazilian, but I'm going to the USA this May and wanted to know if anyone knows about any physical stores around the area of New York City that sell Hetalia merchandise and/or the comics, or any anime merchandise at all. I'm probably going to stay in the Broadway area, but I have some sense of locomotion in the city and it's not a problem if it's a bit farther away...

Also a place called Anime Castle but that is in Queens.
I could always help you out with finding the places since well I've been here all my life. ^^;
I hope this helps.

I'm going with my mother and we're thinking about kind-of-sightseeing, because it's the second time we go and in the first time we just went to the museums, so we thought it could be useful to go to other places and stuff.

35-32 Union Street
Flushing, NY 11354
The 20Q and 44Q are in the area.
Ah yes it would be nice and rather useful. Of course be careful~

We'll be careful ^^

But it reminds me of my mysterious and sudden addiction to pretzels and Starbuck's white chocolate mocca. =/
I don't think that it is possible to have worst crowds than the Macy's thanksgiving parade ones... is it?

The Macy's crowds are tightly-packed but they have order to them. The Flushing crowds are tightly packed but do not have order. Add some cars, buses, and trucks into the mix (and train stations), and it's chaos. I try to avoid that area, or go through from the other side where it's not as bad. ^_^;;; I don't mean to scare anyone. Flushing's a great place, you've just gotta know where you're going and be prepared for it.

- Look the guide said this place is ni-

I'm not scared, I have some experience with bad chaotic crowds; the only problem is the size, I think xD

I hope your trips to New York are awesome, guys! :D /proud New Yorker
Kinokuniya is probably your best bet, since it's closest to where you're probably staying, but it's hella overpriced. Image Anime on 30th St. between 7th and 8th Aves. does a little better on price, and it's got a different selection of goods. Book-Off is about three blocks from Kino, and is fair on prices.
Further downtown in the East Village, there's Toy Tokyo with lots of cute things and Forbidden Planet with a whole upstairs full of manga. St. Mark's Place is in that area, and there are a few shops around there for general anime and video game stuff. And you can kinda get stuff down in Chinatown (http://downtownotaku.blogspot.com/2009/04/chinatown-stops.html) if you're feeling adventurous (it'll get you some good deals, though).
And if it's not too creepy, I can help play tour guide. I live in the city and work near to where you'll probably stay, and can show you how to get around (except in Chinatown; that place is a maze to me). :D

I have the worst sense of direction in all the history of bad sense of direction so it makes me go D= when I think about how in reality it is completely not like that.

I'm convinced that there's a giant magnet under C-town that messes with my internal compass. There's no other explanation.

Right after you get off the 1,2,3, or walk some distance from the N,Q, or M trains, there is a Borders
where I skipped school yesterday orz;;, but they only had two volumes of the manga (plenty of others though, if you're not just limited to Hetalia... a whole upper floor. Pretty sweet).Kinokuniya is the best place for anime in the city, and others have mentioned Flushing where I pass through to go to school, so yeah. I'm outta ideas... xP
OH. And because noone mentioned it:
Image Anime
242 West 30th Street (Btw 7 & 8 Ave)
New York, NY 10001
Whenever I try to go there, they're always closed. But that's because I'm a derp and don't know the hours.

I mentioned Image D:Don't feel bad, I learned the hard way that Image is closed on Sundays. XD

I did that twice too, before I was all "fuck this", and I don't think I ever made it to the store. xD The website looks like they have some pretty cool stuff, though.

I know for a fact they're open during the week at five in the afternoon or so. I was in there on a Thursday about a month ago at that time. Go, go! Buy things!

I think this is the Borders I saw once when I was
completely fucking losttaking a walk during Black Friday, but I needed to find my group, and I did not had even a dime with me, and then I could never find it again.no subject
Dude, I grew up in New York and I still get lost. I have no sense of direction. At all.If it was near a big black building with a red 1 sign
my daddy works there! :Dand on the same block as Madison Square Garden, yep that's the one.The address in case you need it is 2 Penn Plaza. Though I really don't see how you could miss it. It's kinda huge.

Another one with no sense of direction here. The whole downtown here in my city is like 3 blocks away from the only main street and guess what, I get lost.I think it's this one :D I missed it because I have no sense of direction, there were a lot of people and I was trying to find my family, so I did not exactly realized where I was and everything. It was also our last day in the city, so... =/

There's also a place that makes really awesome bread (The Bread Factory, maybe? My dad would know but he's not here right now..). They have normal stuff like pizza, pasta and soup too. I was only there once. But I love the bread. :D If you're in the area, good place for food.

I love bread 8D so this place is going right now to my list.
