The opening actually makes it look like a dating sim. A good one, at that.

Still not buying it. Dating sims are supposed to have nameless/faceless characters to play as, not normal characters. The point of dating sims is "You x *insert character here*", not "Seychelles x *insert character here*". Sigh, oh well.

....What? Gakuen Hetalia isn't a dating sim. Unless the PSP version completely changed directions from the original Gakuen Hetalia. But even then, official visual novels based on popular series aren't "supposed" to be one way or the other. There are plenty that are similar to Gakuen Hetalia in that the main character is a character from the series. The Kyo Kara Maoh games for example.
