[video] The Rise and Fall of Prussia
First of all, I'm not entirely sure if linking to a video I do not own is allowed, so delete this if it isn't.
That being said, this is a video illustrating what happened to Prussia, territory-wise. I think Prussia fans will find it interesting, so I'd like to share it. I don't know how accurate it is, but it gives us a good idea as to how Prussia gained and lost its land. Er, his land.
...I found it kind of sad.

See what Hetalia is doing to us? XD Maps make us sad.

Funnily enough, my history class didn't really mention Prussia. We talked about von Bismark, and when I saw the video I was actually surprised. That is sad.

I had always been interested in different countries, languages, and cultures, but Hetalia just reminded me of why I love them so much. It makes me want to vacation outside of Canada (lovely country as it is) and travel, though I have always wanted to do that. And I agree, no matter how much historical license Himaruya takes, Hetalia is still useful for teaching history.

Keeeeeeep learning. Lord knows most people nowadays could give two shits about different countries/languages/cultures, haaah. If it's an anime that gets them interested, more power to people.

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A POST TO USE THIS ICON. YessssThis is a nice video, thanks for sharing! As others have said it's not technically Hetalia-related, but personally I love history and maps, so hey, I'm not complaining. C:
I've looked at plenty of static maps of Prussia in my history classes over the years, but it was interesting to actually be able to see the territories changing over time like that; it really gives you a much better idea of just how much Prussia conquered and then eventually lost. (It's quite sad how quickly that happened, too.) I think my favourite part was watching the massive territorial gains over relatively short spans of time under Friedrich der Große and Otto von Bismarck. I always knew they accomplished a lot, but every time I read about those men or look at maps I am always more and more in awe of how powerful and strong they were as leaders. It's no wonder Prussia is egotistical and looks up to Fritz in Hetalia; who can blame him with people like that around? xD
Now if only he'd mention Bismarck, too, and run around with a pickelhauben... my life would be made. EVEN ONE STRIP, HIMARUYA. ONE. ;u;
I'm sorry, this got rather lengthy... I love Prussian history so much, ahh.

......ok wait, that'd be kinda hot.
Unitl it said "to Poland". Then it just got retarded.
I really need to pay attention better.
But in all seriousness, that was the saddest history lesson ever. Which is really bad, considering how much I had to study the Holocaust.
POOR GILBERT-BABY!

(but LOLs when it has those two arrows going "Occupied by France", I was all NOT THE VITAL REGIONS~ D: XD)
We get taught about WW1 & WW2 our whole lives practically (or I have anyway), but untill I read Hetalia...I had never heard of Prussia. I can't fathom how that can happen. Everything is "Germany did it", "It was all Germany's fault." never a mention that it wasn't even CALLED Germany yet. *shakes head dismally* There is a history shaped hole in my heart. ;_;

Not 100% correct as far as I learned it.. but it's nice to see the development.
Thanks for the hard work! :D

And, for example, Alsace-Lorraine wasn't a Prussian, but a German occupied area.
Of course, German and Prussian history have a lot in common but after 1871 most stuff was done by Germany (if you want to see it in a "Hetalian" way) - Prussia may have helped him but all the states did.
What I see now, at minute 3, where's Prussia striked out - it's not like Brandenburg was annexed. He just belonged to Prussia like Prussia belonged to Germany after 1871 so I think it's wrong to say it "was" Prussia. Brandenburg did exist before and after Prussia. Kaliningrad, though, was Prussia's capital (as Königsberg - when Prussia was still a duchy of course).
At the end I want to add that Otto von Bismarck wasn't Prussia's leader either. He was the Reichskanzler later in Germany - and the leader was the Prussian King. Bismarck was just his first man.
And Russia wasn't defeated by the Germans I think... they dropped out of the war because of their revolution if I remember it correctly...
I'm sorry if I sound like a bitch, but it just bothered me. The vid was really great in the beginning but had many mistakes from 1871 on.

I just thought that it was very interesting to see the progression. I know it's not entirely accurate, but I'm happy you enjoyed it.

I'm glad you found it interesting. Just remember that it's not completely accurate, though, and maybe take a look at some of the other comments here that deal with the history.

I was all "hell yes! :D" Go Prussia Go!
Well now this just makes me sad... :(
It's like "The death of Prussia"
