Hetalia DVD Question

I was wondering, did you have to sign for it?

Like, because it's rated M, did the delivery man make you sign that you are at least 18? My mother is very particular about what I watch so I want to know to sort of...prepare myself for the worst case scenario in case I had to get her to sign for it.

oh hey I got it.

Nope. I didn't have to sign for it--and I answered the door and stuff, so. I'm sixteen, also. Although I look older, I think.

It might vary, though--let's hope it doesn't.

[identity profile] runciblespork.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course they don't check your i.d. to make sure you're over 18 if you buy it through a delivery service. Jeez.

If it's going to be delivered through a service that does require a signature (some shipping methods do, but you'd know about that beforehand), anyone could scribble their name and the delivery guy doesn't give a crap. You're not accepting secret documents from behind the Iron Curtain.

Now, if you were to stroll into a brick and mortar store and the staff had just been reamed about selling M rated stuff to little 8 year olds, then they'd maybe ask if it was their policy.

Relax, kiddo.

the mail thing, you're right about, but stores are cracking down on sales of M-rated things to minors so it's entirely possible you *would* have to show ID. I bought the True Blood boxed set a couple months ago and got carded for that at Best Buy. Luckily I'm 25 xD

Did you buy through Amazon?

[identity profile] iroh-fancier.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you'll be fine :). I don't even think they have a shipping option where one needs to sign for anything--that and I highly doubt they would have the time or ability to age verify.

Hope it comes soon. :) I'm very excited for mine!

If you got it from Amazon and chose the "Super Saver" shipping they'll just stick it in your mailbox. :)

[identity profile] runciblespork.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if you got it through any other Amazon shipping method, they're just going to deliver it to your door and leave it. Maybe they might ring your doorbell, but you're not going to have to sign for it.

Trust me. I've been ordering all sorts of things from them (including adult "health and beauty" items---a.k.a. stuff that's sold in adult shops) for years. Never had to sign for anything from Amazon.

Chill. Only be freaked out if your mom opens your mail. Which she should not be doing as a matter of basic privacy.

[identity profile] runciblespork.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone's old enough to be the mom of many Hetalia fans and isn't afraid to explore the possibilities of adult toys :)

If it's that much of an issue with parental approval and whatnot, I would have erred on the cautious side and just not ordered the dvd for now---little extras aren't worth it when you know there's a better than average chance of being penalized for it. Sucks to not have all the merchandise, but it's better for a harmonious house if folks don't deliberately do something that they know others they live with would have a fit over. Then again, it boggles my mind when some fans pitch fits that their parents are "so mean!" and grounded them for having shota dj's delivered to their houses, with other fans supporting them in their "justified" outrage.

Welcome to the wonderful world of buying stuff on the internet, where nobody cares what you buy as long as you have the means to pay for it. Mail delivery guys don't care either as long as you don't have a vicious dog that bites them or you don't blame them for missing/undelivered packages.

[identity profile] 12gatsunohime.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I ordered mine through Amazon. They don't care. They just ring your doorbell and drop it off. And there's not much in the way of a rating on the actual DVD itself except for a little tiny almost-unreadable box on the bottom, and the DVD should come in a paper envelope anyway. You'll be fine.

[identity profile] 12gatsunohime.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Come to think of it, I don't even think the delivery guy knows what's in the package. You generally only have to sign for stuff that's like...i dunno, not a DVD of Hetalia. XD

[identity profile] miezen.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if you do have to sign for it, it won't have anything to do with age restrictions. It depends on what kind of shipping you picked. I don't really know what Amazon's shipping options are (I just looked at them and they were site-specific terms), but usually if you order a package via EMS, you have to sign for it and they won't leave it without a signature. They'll leave a slip in your mailbox to take and pick it up, and will try to deliver it again the next day if you don't. Most other typical shipping services don't require a signature. But basically when you sign for a package it's just insurance that it got to the right people.

[identity profile] miezen.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
....But you don't have to be 18 to own a cell phone, do you...? Maybe it was just the idea that you have to be 18 to own a credit card and order online. Asking for signatures rarely ever has to do with the contents of the package.

[identity profile] miezen.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's also possible, at least if the package isn't addressed to you. It should be fine, though.

When I got mine, I wasn't home and it was just put in my mailbox. And I'd pre-ordered it from Right Stuff Anime Store. No signing required. :)

[identity profile] lokichan2004.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't have to sign for it, because I was stupid and forgot to change my shipping from my PO box to the street address. All I had to do was go to the post office and pick it up.

[identity profile] cruel-fortuna.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Trust me, if I don't have to sign & verify my age for my adult toys - they won't make you.

[identity profile] deadtree.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
it would be a weird place to live if your mail carrier knew everything they were delivering anyway, wouldn't it xD

[identity profile] cruel-fortuna.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if my mail carrier was to know what I was having delivered, I'd just smile & grab the package out of his hand before he could make a comment.

[identity profile] cruel-fortuna.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It's really not so scandalous, I'm 21 years old. ; D

[identity profile] cruel-fortuna.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, too bad my facial features still resemble that of a sixteen year old, so without fail, I always get carded.

[identity profile] lonym82.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't get mine shipped, but yeah I thought it was wierd when I got home and saw that tiny M rating on the box: "Oh the clerk didn't even check to see if I was 'mature' enough to buy it." ^^ But yeah...

Nah, they won't make you sign for those dvds...

However, if you got to best buy, they will get a notice on their computers that you have to be 18 to buy it. Just FYI.

[identity profile] jlightstar.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Never signed for mine... They just drop it off...
