You know, I had to look up what marmite is, and well...this was the third pic on the image results:

I can see why America finds the stuff terrifying...

As for England's cane, I think it's actually supposed to be a cane seat, since when Himaruya posted the updated link, underneath was this link and a comment roughly (read: Google) translated to "Gentleman cane is cool":

Somehow, the image of England carrying one of those things around makes him seem like more of an old man XD
