hetalia | [DISCUSSION] Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Heavenly Virtues with the Nations?

I've got not recs for characters beyond the glaringly obvious, but I was wondering why those virtues are listed. The 7 Heavenly Virtues I was taught are faith, hope, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance, and prudence. These don't exactly match up as opposites of the 7 Deadly Sins, but they're the ones this ex-Catholic schoolgirl learned. Just wondering.

Those are the 7 Capital Virtues that correspond to the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit, not the 7 Heavenly Virtues. :3 A lot of people mix them up. X3

There are too many 7 somethings in Catholicism! XDDD

Wrath/Patience is right. (For one loses their temper due to a lack of patience.)

Envy/Trust is... right though most of the time it's considered to be "kindness" not trust, exactly. XD (Either way envy is the absence of both trust and kindness. One must be unbiased in their conveyance of love and kindness and be empathic and trust without preconceived judgment.)

Sorry I can't help with assignments, but I've use the 7DS and 7HV for stories myself (helps that I'm Catholic XD) so I thought I'd help with your questions. :3

For the Deadly Sins I would suggest:
Envy - Romano
Sloth - Spain (he got invaded once because the enemy attacked him during his siesta xD)
Pride - The awesome prussia
Lust - France?
Greed/Gluttony - America, maybe more so for gluttony because ya'know.. fattest country in the world...
Wrath - It's a tie between Germany and Russia history-wise for me...

Prussia is the personification of Pride. He totally should have been in FMA.

Agree 100% with Romano for envy and Prussia for pride~! Well I mean, I agree with the rest too xD but you know, those the very most cause it's so dead on!

For the virtues, I learned Purity and Kindness instead of Chastity and Trust. At least, that's what my theater teacher taught me.

But yeah, so far I can only think of the really obvious ones too. Like France and Lust, Prussia and Pride, Greece and Sloth, America for Gluttony. The sins are always easier. o3o

Wrath: ...I can't make up my mind about this. Switzerland is grumpy but not exactly wrathful. Russia? Albeit a silent sort of wrath.

Note that my choices are based on Hetalia's character design instead of historical basis.

I put Greed as England (because of imperialism an the British Empire) and Chastity as Liechtenstein. Charity as Finland, Austria as Patience. And maybe Gluttony as N.Italy XD So much pasta....

Pride/Humility-->N. Italy/S. Italy I think this is the most obvious.
Lust/Chastity-->France/Lichtenstein France is the stereotype, but he's perfect. And Lichtenstein is so cute and adorable. c':
Greed/Charity-->Türkiye/Finland The Ottoman Empire. Finland seems like a nice guy.
Gluttony/Temperance or self-control-->Russia/Egypt Russia drinks a lot, and he's big. Gluttony is just an over-excess. America could fit, too. Egypt is the posterboy of self-control and no expression.
Wrath/Patience-->Switzerland/Canada Switzerland threatens to shoot people. Wrath. Canada must have the patience of a saint to put up with what others put him through..._Who?
Envy/Kindness-->Belarus/Taiwan She wants to marry her brother. Envy is a stressed want. And kindness...I couldn't think of anyone else. :/
Sloth/Diligence-->Spain/Germany Siestas~ German diligence.

ahh...sorry, but history-wise, I won't really consider Spain for Charity or Kindness(conquistador anyone?). That and him being a country of 'la passion'. I see him better as Wrath, but one that hides behind a happy-go-lucky facade.

Well, my friend barely touches her Internet, that's for sure. She's only doing drabbles and has very little confidence in herself as an author, which is why I'm asking for her.

I can assure you she never got the idea from anywhere. The Sins/Virtues are actually pretty common.

prussia being "im awesome" thinbg is not really detructive (LOLWUT?)

but englands pride is kind of... what's with all dark(emo) and bad thing happen because of his pride.

I actually once had this conversation with someone and we settled on

Pride was Germany, Lust was France of course lol, Greed was England (all those colonies), Wrath was Prussia, Gluttony was Russia and Envy was Canada.

Humility I would say is more so Latvia or one of the Baltics. Chastity being Austria and his prudishness, Charity (and I know I will be shot for saying it) but America. While America normally gets ragged on for being a big greedy nation they do a lot to rush in and help other countries during crisis.
Temperance...Japan. Patience, Spain (he looked after Romano!) and Kindness as Hungary and trust as North Italy.

tl:dr version

Pride = Germany Humility = Baltics
Lust = France Chastity = Austria
Greed = England Charity = America
Gluttony = Russia Temperance = Japan
Wrath = Prussia/S.Italy Patience = Spain

my bad, kindess as N.Italy and Hungary as diligence.

And my reasoning behind Canada being envy is....well honestly, I have one friend who is Canadian and this may not be true of all Canadians, I have known her since I was 17 and she always would get in a bunch if America beat out Canada in ANY sport during the olympics and would often criticize me and my friends for showing any kind of patriotism. So I settled on that, but honestly these could be interchanged multiple ways between each other, Prussia could even be sloth or gluttony depending on what time period he is. And England either greed or Diligence.

Pride/Humility = Japan all by himself. It's the story of Japan in the XX century. If not,
America = Pride / Canada = humility

Uh, obvious France = Lust / Liechtenstein = Chastity

England = Greed / Italy = Charity

America = Gluttony / Austria = Temperance (or self-control)

South Italy = Wrath / Sweden = Patience

Prussia (or South Italy) = Envy / Ukraine = Kindness

Greece = Sloth / Lithuania (or China) = Diligence

The whys:
-Pride/Humility. Japan used to be incredibly proud but got off that pedestal by the end of WWII. America is incredibly proud of himself and his doings, and will talk your ear off about that. Canada doesn't mind being overshadowed by his brother and confused by him, and only feels bad about the fact that nobody remembers him. He bears his brother's overbearingness extremely well

-Lust/Chastity. France is the nation of love and a self-declared pervert. Liechtenstein, not only screams virginal to me, but doesn't seem sexual at all, doesn't have any strong itnerest in anyone other than her brother, who will, if all this is proven wrong, castrate anyone that comes near his sister anywayXD

-Greed/Charity. The British Empire. Italy seems to be the only one concerned for everyone in pain and trying to make everybody happy and always being surroudned by joy and happy people ^^

-Gluttony/Temperance. America is ambitious and has troubles controlling himself in all aspects (apetite, mouth, strength, his own personality). Austria is the opposite, restraint and self-control taken to the extreme.

-Wrath/Patience. South Italy is always angry at everyone and everything. Prussia could also work, but he's too flippantXD. Sweden is patient and hard-working in everything, his work, his relationship with those important to him, and never gets anxious about advancing things more quickly, and isn't impetuous at all

-Envy/Kindness. Prussia is envious of Austria and/or Hungary, and the world at large for not being alone like he is. He also misses being a nation like the others. South Italy works better because he's conscious about his jealousy (while Prussia's seems to be unconscious), because he's extremely insecure and has big issues of self-steem, specially in regards to his brother. Ukraine is kind and loving to his little siblings, even after it's been proven to her they're both nutcasesXD, and she has a sweet motherly personality

-Sloth/Diligence. Greece is always sleeping. Lithuania is the man to get the work done, as seen in the Middle Ages or what a good servant he makes in more present strips. China is also hardworking and his presence is felt all around the world, and he always travels to other countries to work.

Austria as Temperance, interesting

Pride/Humility = Prussia (oresama) / Lituania
Lust/Chastity = France / Lichtenstein
Greed/Charity = America / N. Italy
Gluttony/Temperance = America / Japan
Envy/Kindness = Russia / Finland
Sloth/Diligence = Spain / Germany
Wrath/Patience = S. Italy / Greece (too many, see ep.14)

I'm going to list more than one for each cause I really don't like leaving countries out :D ( repeated some... cause unfortunately they fit two but there's more than one for each so pick one :D
