Discussion time!

So...I work at a restaurant with an adjoining bar.  I don't drink at all, so when customers ask for something from the bar, I'll have no idea if we have it serve it or not because I don't know what it is.

So that got me thinking, if our Nations were to walk into a bar, what would they order?

My guess is America's drink is Jack and Coke.  Or a Bud.  Maybe Miller.

So how about for the rest of the world? ^_^

In England it would be ale...beer...lager...wine...cider...whiskey.........
the list goes on! XD Actually, a very english drink would be a pint of John Smith's.

[identity profile] fivedayslater.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually find it hilarious that America can't drink in his own country. I don't think Latvia and Poland can either, and possibly Estonia. XD

Anyway, France and the Italies would have wine. The kind that's been sitting around for at least a century. Don't even consider it otherwise.

England would just drink whatever you put in front of him. I expect he'd knock back a few shots first and then start on the beers...and not stop until he fell down. Since we apparently have an unhealthy 'drink solely to get drunk' attitude over here, it doesn't matter much what we drink.
And it's what I do, but please don't try it at home

Russia's is... kinda obvious- they do drink alot of straight Vodka, though they have quite strong stouts as well, and Brandy now I think on it...

But vodka is cheap (especially in Russia) so it's the staple I guess

Japan would want sake.

[identity profile] diwan-sama.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Or beer.
If anyone ever went into an izakaya (kind of bar where they can eat and drink), surely he/she has witnessed the 1 litre mugs of beer the salarymen drink after work that make them returning home totally wasted XD

[identity profile] zalia.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
England, in my head, likes Scottish or Irish whisky (expensive ones that are very old) such as Aardbeg, Laphroaig or Glenmorangie as well as the smaller distilleries in the Scottish Islands. He's also very fond of his beer from independent breweries, such as Bishop's Finger, Flanker's Tackle, all the real ales. And he's inordinately proud of the growing trade in British wines because it allows him to give France the finger.

I'm Swedish but I dunno what Sweden would drink maybe beer it's kind of the typical guy drink...
Denmark might go for beer thought (They had these like GIANT beer glasses when I was there for a trip whan I was a kid...)
Norway and Finland not so sure I'm partially Finnish thought and my Finnish relatives drinks a lot of stuff at christmas Beer and stronger stuff maybe for Finland?

[identity profile] ringoroll.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
For Finland, I'd say... SALMIAKKIKOSSU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salmari)

Because that's the first thing that comes to mind when talking about Finland and alcohol :'D

[identity profile] juandalyn.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Germany would drink beer. I don't think he'd drink Bavarian beer like Weizen or other specific beer but simply pilsner, like Jever (bitter >___<), Becks, Veltins...

Belgium would drink beer as well I think.

England likes his Scotch Neat. But if no Scotch is available then ANYTHING WITH ALCOHOL IN BUT Particularly RUM.

Italy likes really fruity coctail drinks with umbrellas and stuff in.

America can't drink at home because he can't pull for 21, so whenever he goes to England he's like "CONFUSED BY THE CHOICE" and just likes to drink the sugary alcopops. Sometimes Uncle Scotland will say he's getting him a coke and it's straight Jack Daniels and America drinks it all in one gulp and then goes "Shit. That wasn't cola!"

Russia likes Vodka

For Poland it would be vodka/wódka since it's his national drink. I'll have to add it was actually invented in Poland, not Russia ;)

I was also fascinated by spirytus rektyfikowany in Poland's MKC - it's the strongest alcohol drink in the world(96%), he sings that it's the best so if he really likes it, it makes him the most hardcore drinker from whole cast XD;

[identity profile] abceza123.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
WHAT.
How does anyone survive 96% alcohol? Poland's hardcore if that's like, true.

There was a thread like this before. Uhm I don't remember very well but Japan would order sake, China would order some of that... really strong wine that they bury for years in a pot to ferment. Prussia would order something that was.. jaggermeister?... I dunno I dn't remember and I don't really drink xD

Australia mainly drinks VB, but he'd drink whatever is thrown in front of him. He's quite a fan of wine and claims that his wine is better than France's.
England also drinks whatever is thrown at him, but I think he'd get drunk quicker than Australia.

France is one of those snooty wine people that only buys the best brand that has been fermented for like a zillion years or whatever. The Italy brothers also like their wine, but they aren't that picky about the brand.

Denmark and Prussia drink craploads of beer. They don't care about whether it's light or dark, as long as it gets them drunk it's awesome. They also suffer from the worst hangovers out of all the nations.

Sealand mixes various soft drinks together and says that it's alcohol to look cool in front of everyone else. Or he drinks water and says that it's Vodka.

Russia drinks Vodka as if it's water. No one has ever seen him drunk, so everyone just assumes that he's immune to the effects of alcohol.

Liechtenstein drinks those 'feminine' drinks, but only when Switzerland isn't around. Switzerland still thinks that she has never touched a drop of alcohol.

[identity profile] speshk.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)

As said earlier, England drinks everything alcoholic, and his favourite will always be rum. Though he has a really soft spot for vodka martinis. Shaken, not stirred.

I don't really see Sweden drinking that much nowadays, he's the type who might would have a glass of wine or something for dinner simply because it's tasty, and he likes cider. However, back during the Viking era, there was no limit to how much he could drink. He and the other Scandinavians (especially Denmark) used to spend days by just getting completely stoned on mead. All of the Scandinavians still has some of the highest alcohol tolerances beacuse of that.

Finland is a horrible drunk. Though unlike England's angsty ramblings, he gets these terrible mood swings instead. Like, for one second he's all cuddly and intrusive, and the next he suddenly becomes scarier than Russia and will shoot at everything that moves.

Stereotypical beers!! Ireland drinks Guinness, Thailand drinks Singha, Netherlands drinks Heineken, Mexico drinks Corona, Japan drinks Asahi.

Scotland drinks hardcore Scotch whisky.

Australia drinks beer, but not Fosters as you may have been led to believe through advertising. Fosters isn't promoted here, and is really hard to find because no one drinks it. It's just an export thing. Seconding above comment, he'd probably drink VB, and some fancy beers from microbreweries, if he's feeling fancy XD Also wine, since we drink and produce so much of it.

The Nordics and Germanics would all come together for a BEERFEST~

Denmark of course only drinks his own beer TUBORG

Norway, I can also see him drinking akevitt. Don't remember what it was in English, but it's strong stuff. I got knocked out after around 3 shots. LIGHTWEIGHT HERE.

America would drink.... Anything. Teenagers test stuff, right? SO YEAH, ALL THE TEENS TEST STUFF. But I can see him drink beer or whiskey. For some reason.
Or Smirnoff. Cause it's sweet and yummy.

England just drinks whatever that can get him drunk. But I see whiskey as one of his favorites as well.

Japan= Sake of course. Unless he's forced to drink something else.

China...... Gets carded =w=b

lol
Akvavit/aquavit is pretty strong (40%) but it really nice, and usually drunk with beer :D

I just remembered something:

I read that cider was, once upon a time, the drink of choice in America and that those apples, which aren't native to the Americas, planted all over the country were more for making cider than apple pie.

Perhaps when he's feeling nostalgic, America reaches for some hard apple cider.

Pfft, you guys. America carries around a fake ID at all times to get into bars just like 90% of his teenage population.

He prefers whiskey or beer, but has been trying out different kinds of wines when he's not at the bar because California seems to have such a fascination with them.

England drinks rum. And scotch. And whiskey. And ale. And... okay I think everyone has already covered the fact that he drinks anything set in front of him.

Germany and Prussia are obsessed with beer.

France drinks wine, champagne, and chardonnay. But he isn't opposed to hard liquor every now and then.

Russia of course drinks vodka, but I can't help but think that he and America got into drinking contests at some point in time involving alternating shots of vodka and whiskey.

I agree with the above commenter about Spain and sangria. He would totally live off of the stuff. XD
