hetalia | [Cosplay/Event/Reminder] HetaFIFA 2010!

Just a reminder about the HetaFIFA 2010 event. Updates at the end!

On Saturday, June 12, we're planning to have a great outdoor picnic in Central Park, including geekery, cosplay, and FOOTBALL to celebrate the FIFA World Cup this year! Everyone is welcome to join, everyone is welcome to play (and everyone is welcome to bring food, too).

So here's how it's gonna go down: the biggest part of the day will be a bunch of short soccer games between the people who show up, in World Cup cosplay. Of course, that means you're all going to have to pick characters (one person per country, please). I originally posted this event on Facebook*, but I didn't think it would generate this much attention, so most of the spots are already taken. However, if we can fill the ones that aren't taken (still a few canon characters left), I'll start allowing doubles. A list of the available characters is here, and I keep that updated as best I can.

Of course, you can show up as someone not in the World Cup and still play, or you can show up as someone in the World Cup and not play, or you can do both or neither. Whatever. :D

After we're done playing, we'll probably settle down for a picnic and geekery, maybe a few not-soccer games, and there's a playground nearby! I'm probably not explaining this well, so have an FAQ, with more details that are better written out. If you've still got questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment here and I'll get back to you as quickly as I can!

One last thing: for those going, yes, I know it's very close to AnimeNEXT. That's my mistake; I had it in my head that AN was the last week of June, so my b. I totally understand if you wanna skip this one to go to NEXT instead, but I promise at least a moderately amusing time if you show up. And maybe flag!cookies. XD

UPDATES:
•Location: I've chosen the location as the East Meadow in Central Park, located between E 97th and E 100th Streets, on Central Park East (Fifth Ave) (if you went to Japan Day last year, or are going this year, it's there). We'll meet at 97th and 5th, but we'll play closer to 100th St. because there's a playground there with a bathroom. :D Of course, if you can think of an alternate location to suggest, please feel free.

•Weather: There is no raindate. If it rains, we don't play, and we don't make it up. Sorry. (HOPE FOR SUNSHINE. :D)

•Games: We are still looking for players (and referees)! There are just seven spots to fill before I open the floor to doubles. Also, if anyone knows the ins and outs of soccer, I'll need help drafting a set of rules for us to follow. Thanks!

(P.S., question for the mods. The last time I posted this event, I included the "cosplay" tag, but it was later removed. I'm just curious why, since this is a cosplay event. Is it because there are no pictures of cosplay in this post? Thanks for your help!)
