Scanlation: What should I do about Czechoslovakia? (OLD, chapter 5 omake)
This went unscanlated for so long, so I thought I'd take a chance at typesetting and getting this together. I'm not too sure about how the typesetting turned out, but here it is:
First, I'd like to credit Eruraito for her help with the translation, since Himaruya's handwriting is messy and near incomprehensible at times and I wouldn't have gotten the motivation to try and typeset it without a clue as to what the blurry handwriting was saying about "Czechoslovakia". I also had to double-check some of the speech parts, but the scanlation kind of sat buried on my drive after I worked on it in Photoshop. But since there are so many things not yet scanlated...

I'm unsure about how clear the text came out, but if you have any additional corrections or suggestions, it would be nice to hear! Keep in mind that these designs are VERY old by now (2007), and "musician" Czechoslovakia has pretty much become Iceland (and it seems if the Bamboo blog is to go by, they'll be two characters instead of one, though he still hasn't figured out their looks or dynamics). So if Czech Republic and Slovakia look nothing like any of these, it wouldn't be too surprising. From the 2008 Bamboo post, it does seem like the idea of "Czech=feminine, Slovakia=masculine" (based off their names in Japanese) was still there though.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Czechoslovakia looking like the classmate Hidekaz knew~.
And two characters? Hmm, for both regions. c:

Two characters would make a lot of sense for the history of it, Slovakia would be like Hungary's little "henchman" I guess and Czech would be under Austria. I'm interested in how they'd interact with Liechtenstein, though XD

silly Himaruya, a musician type can also be a ladies' man~!

in my headcanon Czech is the boy and Slovakia is his little sister or brother - just because I can't help but imagine Czech being protective of Slovakia no matter what he or she has done to him
also Czech being younger would be historicaly completely wrong...
as I preffer them as 2 characters(again for the sake of correctness)I would like Czech to be the Iceland-looking character and Slovakia the smaller one x3

A lot of fans here hope that Czech and Slovakia will be in the third volume of manga. Well, I'm not so opitimistic, but it would be nice. :)
I used these characters in some of my fanarts. The left one as Slovakia (I think they're so energetics) and the right one as Czech (calmer and more like Germany). But I would like to see o definitive version of them soon. :D

czechoslovakia should be the mom :3

never thought of Czechoslovakia being another character thought XD
sounds good though personally I preffer them just living with Austria and Hungary(after being made to) for a long time before separating from them before Slovakia runs away, comes back and in the end moves in his own house

Little bro!Slovakia is just a cute mental image too. I know there are some fans who'd rather Czech be the guy and Slovakia as the girl since Slovakia is the "smaller" one, though I feel that wouldn't help some fans' rage about all the females being "small/poor/unimportant" countries (which is such an ugly generalization that I've seen, and some go as far as to say they're all third world). That, and I think it'd be funny for there to be a sort of reverse with the two: Czech is female but the harder-working one and has a boyish personality, Slovakia is male but is more feminine in comparison to his sister.
Of course, I don't expect we'll get anything like that, but it's an idea that's cropped up in my head.

I hope if Himaruya ever does, make Czechoslovakia a ladies and musician man. It would remind me of my Czech friend.

And headcanon Czech is a ladies man blonde
XD Urgghh

I think, that Czech was in love with Roderich:-) She loved him better than Hungary, who was rather rebellious, and was fighting constantly with him. Czech is very talented in music, and has an excellent sense of humor.

If not I would think that Slovakia would be older. From what I've read, evidence of people living in what is Slovakia has gone as far back as 270,000 BCE. Then the earliest sigh of what became the Czech Republic was 500 A.D.
