FUNI IS GIVING THE HETALIA CHARACTERS ACCENTS AND IT WILL BE FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.

 

Personally, I adore accents. I'm not worried about the dub because FUNi hasn't done me wrong in the past. Well... they haven't done what they know will be a cash cow wrong in the past. I'm excited for the merchandise and shit more than anything.

I think it's funny that it's going to be TV-MA. Uhuhu.

To be fair, we didn't know for sure about the accents until now. What we had before was a con info leak. It turned out to be true, but I for one am wary of "leaked" information and will take it with a grain of salt until it's announced officially.

The TV-MA thing confuses me. It'd make sense if the anime had been directly adapting the manga, including things like Christmas Rampage, but Studio DEEN was pretty much adapting Hetalia into a kids' show. Considering how FUNi has been about not really researching the content of a show before making decisions about ratings and such (see; Dance in the Vampire Bund), I'm a bit concerned. At the same time, this may just be a shield for them considering how controversial Hetalia has been.

Hahahahaha. Oh wow. Today has been SO VERY VERY EPIC.

I'm seriously stoked about accents. This may be because of my huge accent kink *brick'd*, but I think it really fits with the series to have cartoony, over-the-top foreign accents. (As long as the characters' speech patterns and voice pitches are kept, I'm fine. I need valley girl Poland and high-pitched-voice Russia.)

I admit I don't have much knowledge of the various distribution groups, and I generally watch anime subbed rather than dubbed, but I have to check out the dub of this just for the lolz.

About the MA rating - heh, I've seen people on the interwebs get ridiculously butthurt about their countries' portrayals. Anything to avoid that sort of wank/war/what have you.

Funimation, so far you are making me incredibly happy. TV-MA and accents? I'm starting to believe they're taking this quite seriously, contrary to my original impression.
Normally I'd worry about the accents, but then I remember roxas4ever's earlier post about this, that apparently the staff will actually be doing careful research on the accents--and then I'm happy again.

I've gone from nervous to just plain excited. Now I just need to see some good acting and I'll be a 100% happy panda.
