[SCANLATION] Independence Day

Sorry this is so late. My photoshop crashed and I had to mess around with it and have my friend burn me a disk to get it fixed.

But... HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA-SAN, even if it's late. This comic represents this!

Editing this was pretty difficult honestly. It was hard getting the amount of words in these bubbles. I couldn't make the font too small because then you wouldn't be able to read it and I'm not a big fan of having the text go outside the bubble. However, for these particular layouts.. I was forced to. So, I apologize that this isn't top notch.

I hope you guys enjoy it! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] equivalent_t for translating this for us! I hope your program gets fixed soon!

It's been bugging me on and off since January. I tend to think of it as a wrapped present or a card to save myself some grief.

.....By now I have already decided to revise my statement into,

"This will bug me for days/months/forever until I figure it out."

.......I'm going to pretend it was either a card, present or some sort of candy. America likes candy after all.

....haha, if it's candy, he'd complain to hell and back. Or so he'd try to suggest. XD (He does have this interesting habit of going "England, I'm hungry!" whenever Arthur seems more interested in Canada.)

It's likely to be punch, as in the drink. Since Japan said that England was good at puns.

You might be interested in how the original word 'puns' came from sounds vastly different from 'punch'. ^^ I forgot the exact reading at the moment, but I can look it up once I get back from work.

...what? Why would they sound the same? what are you on about?

[identity profile] petethedementor.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I think they meant it was a pun on the punching glove

what? England always forgets Canada's name and mistakes him for America!

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2009-05-31 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
England does, so he does. But remember that time in the Canada strips, when England was trying to figure out what was wrong (Canada wasn't there) and America distracted him by saying "I'm hungry"?

It wouldn't mean a thing on its own, but when juxtaposed to how he used to say "I'm hungry" when England introduced him to Canada....it kinda hints that it's his way of getting attention.

Gah~! That's the most adorable thought I've ever heard! (or read...) *squee*
