[Question] About Spain's speech.

He has this weird speech, which I don't know where it's from btw, but he always say 'akan' in doujinshis, what does it mean?

Spain speeks the kansai dialect, which can be heard mostly in Osaka

"akan" can mean "not good" but as my japanese sucks maybe you should trust another person translation XD

Kansai-ben encompasses all the western dialects of Japan so it's not only spoken in Osaka but all of Japan's west in one form or another. The kansai-ben spoken in Osaka, named Osaka-ben, is just a branch of kansai-ben.

Comedians in Japan usually speak in the kansai dialect and most of the famous ones are from the Osaka area so sometimes people think that's the only place kansai-ben is spoken but it's not true ^ ^;

"akan" is like the phrase "dame"
It essentially means "Do not"
Is it used to express what one should not do.

Oh thank you very much! I wouldn't know much about dialects except for the ending -han that's like -san i think

OMG YES! in 1 doujinshi where he was 'getting it on' with Romano he kept saying "akan! akan" and Im like does it mean good? but some parts that would make no sense XDD

oh yes sexy spain... lol it gets me to think that he most likely would say "mierda" (which means shit in spanish) in spanish rather than akan!

I think it's something like "it's hopeless!" given how I tend to see it used.
