hetalia | [Game Mod] Civ4 Hetalia: Gilbo

Nope, no mod update releases in this post, but I have been working on something related to it.

So, remember from the last post? The lack of official Prussia art from Himaruya-san to use as Gilbo's in-game look really, really frustrated me.
I mean, I could always use the fan art out there....but omfg, this bastard has a load of them. Needless to say, I was hard-pressed to pick a favorite. I did prefer using Himaruya's style since the rest of the other in-game art was, and Gilbo would look out of place (not that he would mind, but).

So....I figured...why not make my own....I'm quite a copypasta person and not just with mod programming scripts.

So, in this game as Francis, I totally got married with...well, in Civ4 terms, made a "permanent alliance" with Wang Yao here.
What does that mean? We've conjoined our states together! His wars are my wars, and we become a singular supranational entity till the end of the game!
*COUGH* crack pairing overdosage *COUGH*

As you can see from the screenshots, he gives me lots of gifts~

So continuing on regarding Gilbo, since I wanted something closer to Himaruya's style, naturally I would have to use his art as reference.

....few minutes later....or was it 20? I sure was rusty...

Sexy sexy uniform, did I say how sexy uniforms are? Sexy~

Now...I HATE COLOURING. Which is pretty much the only thing that keeps me from drawing...
But colouring on the computer...I've never done that before, sure, why not?
Thus begins my adventure into....Photoshop CS3!!!

After much grueling work of spamming paint bucket tool...5 minutes later:

Ehhhh...I could end it now I suppose....

Just then, my hetalia song list on winamp blasts his theme song, Amazing Me, For Me, According to Me and I realized --
NO! THIS #@$% DOES NOT DO HIM JUSTICE!

So after reading some tutorials...bugging my sister who has more experience in photoshop than I do...

...2 hours later...

It turned out better than I'd hoped, and now....have to add him to the game....

Prussia: BOW DOWN TO ME!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ORESAMA NO PROFILE!!!! KESESESESESESESE~

Note to self: Colouring on the computer ain't so bad.

Because he's not in the game yet, but he will be in the next update :)

About Korea....I'll think about it after I finish the three. Lol, havent even made custom dialogue for any of them, plus there is still some of the main characters who haven't got any yet.

Ahh crack pairings... this game is full of them. My favourite is Germany and Canada teaming up to take down Japan. Except that at the time, Japan was me... orz

You know makes me sad? When Veniciano and Ludwig don't like each other... T-T

I know! If I'm playing one, it always makes me try to get on the other's good side because I don't want that to happen.

Hehe, the game itself is a good game. To everyone else that got Civ4 because of the mod, you make me want to work harder on it, rofl.

At last! After nearly the whole month without Internet and 2 days without electricity (BECAUSE OF THE EARTHQUAKE! I live in Chile, you know...)
So, glad to find out you're still working on the proyect. I also have the same problem with colouring on the computer (and I too bug my sister who knows better how to use photoshop); your drawing is awesome!(of course, since it's Prussia).

(Hope I'm not bothering, but could you maybe do the Holy Roman Empire? It's my favourite, because of the unique unit and building (and flag).

Anyways, yea....about the mod. This month's been kinda hell for me. After going to classes, studying, midterms...the only thing I felt like doing during the spare time I have is playing Mass Effect (Just finished the first game, now going through Mass Effect 2 -.-) Blame my friend for introducing me to that game. Blargh.

Actually, I have a few new things added for the next version but I feel its too minor to post as an update. I want to actually have everything I outlined in this post to be included before putting up a new version to download. It'll be more fair instead of pushing it further back.

I also did think of doing Holy Roman Empire...the thing is...HRE is kinda overpowered in Civ4 (Yes, the unique unit and building are BOTH OP, especially for it's era). That's not the real problem though, Hetalia canon-wise, wouldn't Ludwig technically be the young HRE? It'll be kinda weird for both Germany and HRE to be in the same game, haha.

That's just purely my opinion though, its not gonna be a problem to put HRE in. But like I said before, I do want to finish the stuff on this post (and adding the custom text for the new Civs PLUS the main hetalia Civs which dont have custom text yet. *cough cough* England!)

So yea, a lot of work. But I will work and release a new version within the next month! ALSO, being Canadian and all, the Olympics had been all the rage here for the past few weeks, especially the HOCKEY GAME. Serious Business, no, its not a stereotype, its true, lol. Anyways, long ass post, hahaha, take care!

Ah, the Olympics; I stayed until 1 AM (very different time zone here) watching the Canada vs USA game. (But I missed the closing ceremony...stupid earthquake who left me with no electricity! I wanted to see it!)

And don't worry, take your time; I want to see how cool Prussia is, and have more customs dialogues (which are great! It must be a bit difficult to write so many customs texts, isn't it? Especially for those like HRE, or worse, the Netherlands, which although I would like to have it incluided, it is obviously impossible right now).
