[DISCUSSION] Biggest fears/worst memories
So I was reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban earlier (yes, I know :P) and during the parts involving boggarts and dementors, I started thinking about Hetalia and what each nation would see if they encountered either of those creatures. What would their boggarts turn into and what would the dementors force them to relive? I feel so nerdy for even thinking of this
Basically the question is: What are each nation's biggest fears? What about their worst memories? And alternatively, what are their best memories?

After reading the doujin Risorgimento I can't help but think Germany would be made to relive the fall of the HRE. As for boggarts, perhaps into Hitler...

His best memories... would be when his nation became peaceful once more and, of course, all his time spent with Italy. Or, perhaps when/if he regains his memories, his memories with Chibitalia when he was HRE.

For Estonia, his worst memory could be having to become part of the Soviet Union, and his biggest fear could be seeing one of his brothers as they'd be if they had to keep living with Russia.
Or potentially an especially nasty computer virus, but I'd assume he uses Linux so it's not so much of a worry XDno subject
and well- overused plotline;
American Independance for England.

Yeah, it's true Francis was parono about getting invaded once again by those "barbaric germans" (and just here my movie says "40 ans que la France et la Prusse rêve de s'écharper". Perfect timing. )
I mean Jeanne d'Arc is too cliché, so I was hesitating between occupation during WW2 or the Saint Barthélémy or events like that for Francis' bad memories...
But... just LOL
Ah, if parents had known what really happened when you were taken by the Spiked Helmet hahahaha

For Ivan, the boggart would turn into Belarus holding a baby and wearing a wedding dress. xD And as for the dementors... his entire life would flash before his eyes. xDD Russian history is just so depressing as a whole, I simply couldn't pick just one incident.

After all the civil war had more deaths then any other war the U.S had combined.

Since I couldn't tempt a certain person to answer this themself...*cough* That is, I had some help fromA boggart for Sweden would probably appear as himself, circa Thirty Years War to Great Northern War. In short, his empire days. Both because those were times with much external and internal conflict and horrible warfare in general, but also because (at least) in hindsight he abhors having been that militaristic nation.
The very worst memory, though, might be 1809, and losing Finland to Russia. Sweden lost hope of regaining his superpower status, and a large area that had been part of him for centuries in one blow. Furthermore, after that Finland started becoming more independent, and, to quote my source: "A worse thing than giving up the person you love the most to someone you can't stand is knowing that that person is better off without you."

I'm totally not cryingI didn't know the 30 years war caused such strife for Sweden considering that's when he became a superpower and put Sweden on the map for the world. (I guess calling yourself the, "King of the Protestantism," kinda does that). Though the only internal war I know of Sweden is Cudgal war which Finland was sick of all the wars with Poland but that was before the 30 years war...But I would love to be enlightened on this information. :D

That or perhaps a particularly harsh battle in one of the World Wars.
Or Hetalia-wise, the fear of turning into America completely?

America's boggart would probably be the Confederation. His dementor would show him either his Civil War, Pearl Harbor, or 9/11.
Actually, any country that's had a Civil War, that's probably what their dementor would show them.
no subject
Germany's boggart might be Hitler, or himself in a Nazi uniform again.
America's might be something about the Trail of Tears or some other great atrocity against the Native Americans? I think it torments him a great deal, since he seemed to try to forget about it/leave it out of history books. He remembers slavery well enough, but his treatment of the Native Americans seems to get pushed away from his consciousness (or at least it has for a long time. He's been getting better about it lately.) I think that would upset him more than other horrible things that he hasn't tried so hard to forget or brush off.
Russia's boggart has so much to choose from, it turns into something different every time. Mongols, Stalin and dead Romanovs are reoccurring ones, though.

I could see their boggart being Mussolini, if we go with Hitler as Germany's. For their worst memories? Well, Hetalia itself described the Italian Wars as a major bloodbath and they were physically just little kids at the time. That would be one source of trauma for them, and then of course there is World War Two.
If we go with the idea of Veneziano having been in the resistance after Italy joined the Allies or the idea of having having represented the Salo Republic (or both), that definitely would've been awful for him, especially with having to deal with such horrors as Cefalonia during that time and both Japan and Germany after him. And even with the South already having been "freed", Romano would have suffered too. The whole Fascist period would've definitely been a dark spot for them.
They'd probably be made to suffer through and experience what happened in Ethiopia and other places under that period, too. For natural disasters as opposed to the wars, I could see Romano being made to re-live the earthquakes that hit (since Southern Italy's had more compared to the North, though Veneziano would have his share too) and the feeling of being trapped and crushed in them would definitely be a fear. It's in my headcanon that his chorea never quite vanished and is tied to such things as the earthquakes, so losing control of his body? Definitely bad.
For their greatest memories? I think the unification would've been one for them, as well as the wars they fought for the independence. And then there would be the sort of bittersweet triumph in getting their home free at the end of WWII and the end of that era.
since I can't edit to add:

America.... I think his worst would be 9/11, just because I imagine him being really sensitive when it comes to the home front. And he doesn't get invaded/hurt on his own land very often, I think. His best memory would be... BEING AWESOME THAT ONE TIME.
Actually! Maybe his worst memory would be dropping the nuclear bomb on Japan, because he fears himself turning into a monster. He's such a cute character, there's a lot of things America has done that could affect him...
For England, NOT the American Revolution. That wasn't the worst thing to happen, y'know. Maybe the Blitz over London, or the English Civil War which I hear is pretty bloody though I don't know much about it...
Best memory = KICKING FRANCE'S ASS OVER THE YEARS.
Germany, yeah, he would fear the whole NAZI thing again.
Now, Romano, I think the Italian War of Unification would be awful to relive, because one, it was a struggle and they went against the Pope, and two, because even though his kingdom was technically at an advantage in three gazillion ways, his brother's army tottered in and kicked his ass. I think his fear would be to dissappear because there is technically no South Italy anymore (although! South Italians and North Italians are very different, so I guess that's why he's still around.) That, or WW2, because the Germans in his lands burned a bunch of farms and there was so much fighting.

Italy worst memories are probably: the later years of WW2, the Unification of Italy, the Italian Wars, and (because I ship HRE x Chibitalia SO HARD, the dissolution of Holy Roman Empire in 1806, unless of course it was Westphalia)
His best memories are probably living with his grandpa, Holy Roman Empire's confession, and his bonding time with Japan and Germany in early WW2)
Germany's worst memories are probably the Holocaust, and to a much lesser extent, Italy's switch to the Allies' side in WW2 (again, for shipping reasons) and the division of Berlin.
His best memories are when Italy said he wanted to be his friend, and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Japan's worst memory is, hands down, the Atomic bombs.)
His happiest moments are the simple pleasures in life XD
America's worst memories are probably 9/11, Cival War, the Bombs, assassinations of his bosses, and the American Revolution. While this was a rather glorious thing for America as a country, there was probably a lot of pain for him on a personal level, or at least that's how I interpret the large amount of British support from the colonies (not everyone wanted to be independent you know, they just wanted fair treatment).
America's best memories are his childhood with England and his time with friends (human, country, animal, and extraterrestrial alike).
England's worst memories as a country: his Civil War, and probably his childhood (which isn't very clear)
great memories are the defeat of the spanish armada, various parts of the 100 years war, and succession and marriage of Henry II (in which he gained 2/3 of France, which probably totally made his day), and when America choose him even when he completely sucked in comparison to France.

That's why he acts so 'oblivious' every time someone propose him a date or something more serious.
In that line of thought, he refuses to admit his feeling for Germany, especially because he look so much like HRE, and pretend that they are only very good friends.
Germany's worst fears: An increase of the price of wursts, a third world war, the loss of Italy.
no subject
Japan's in Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Germany, the whole WWII, probably
Italy, when France told him HRE was dead
ALLIES -Worst memories
America's is...guh. hard to say. Maybe Kennedy's assasination? Or 11/9
England...T-H-E R-E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N
France's is the death of Jeanne
China...I don't know enough about his history to tell...
Russia, I don't know which particular tragedy to choose. His life is so full of them, the poor dear. Maybe the murder of the Romanovs? That seems to be the fandom consensus
Other nations:
Spain's is...I know many people would say the Armada, but it's probably the Civil War of 1936-1939
Poland - WWII
Canada - when his brother burned his capital
Greece - the Parthenon exploding in 1830's
Hungary - Sissi's death
Prussia - um, when he came into Russia's hands?
worst fears...probably a repetition of their worst memories, no?

I think England’s best memory would be either the times he spent with his colonies or all the times he kicked France’s ass.
And England’s worse fear is RUSSIA!
