[Scanlation] New Christmas Blog Strips

Translated by the amazing [livejournal.com profile] hagane_no_mame  , I merely type set it.

All done~

Official post here

Original translations here

First one:
With Christmas, Paris, and Noises

【There was a time Santa Claus got executed】
There was a time that everyone's favourite Santa, called Pere Noel in French, got executed. It really happened in France in the Normandy region city of Dijon. [I think he meant Burgundy region, because there is a Dijon there but not Normandy, according to Google.] The protagonist of Christmas is not Santa! "Santa is nothing but a lie!" proclaimed the enraged clergy, and on December 23rd an effigy of Santa was dealt the punishment of being burned at the stake on a plaza in front of a cathedral. During that incident the dreams of the children running about France were crushed...
The day after that was Christmas eve.

The one who staged Santa's revival was the mayor of that time.

The next one was already posted by [livejournal.com profile] voyaaage here.

1000 Years of Christmas

And that's it~

France executing Santa... o.0;

I love England's dysfunctional phone call with France.

It continues in the next strip. xD

Haha is that Finland giving Sealand a back ride?

How cute- I mean..Bad France :|

[identity profile] shinraisei.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, the ending? Epic. (what with the mayor trying to save Christmas and becoming Père Noël)

[identity profile] hagane-no-mame.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
I made a type lol.

【There was a Santa Claus got executed】 should be "there was a time".

It's so sweet of the Mayor to do such a thing c:

I see you've modified England's lines in the 2nd panel of the third part to say idiot twice...

I don't know why you did that though because in the Japanese he does not use the same word twice(as it would sound kind of repetitive and defeat the purpose of his string of name calling).

[identity profile] hagane-no-mame.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes it does and it is sing-songy, but those dashes represent long vowel sounds, so he's just dragging the sound longer for effect. Frequently insults will be said like that in Japanese and dragging the sound acts to express more of a mocking tone.

Baka was already used as idiot in the first panel, that's why for yaai I changed it to fool(it's actually not quite the same as baka as well) and for the double ahou I used moron and imbecile.

Oh and thanks for editing and type setting it all :D

[identity profile] hagane-no-mame.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I guess I should clarify why repeating "idiot" to sound sing-songy is not as desired. It's because I think England is trying to call him an idiot in as many ways as he can, that is sort of the point for the similar scenes in different times.

Thanks for scanlating this. 8D

The idea of Santa getting executed kind of scares me. |'D

Okay, I usually tend to think of Fin-mama as a fanon invention. Now... not so much.

"Yaaay! Higher, Fin-mama, higher!"
"Sea-kun, I'm not as tall as Su-papa." *and stop calling me "mama", I'm not your papa's wife* (I'm his boyfriend, call me Fin-papa.)

He has turned the death of Père Noël into a miracle. I know his identity, he is rather well known in France but I'm not allowed to reveal it, the Père Noël is the Père Noël. I've spent my childhood in Burgundy and I feel a little nostalgic now.
