I think Norway would be a so-and-so Nicholas.

People generally assume Ludwig's last name is Beilschmidt because that's Gilbert's and they're so-called brothers.

I've seen numerous fan names for those characters. One of my personal favorites is a fan name for Denmark, Loki. My friend named her phone that and calls it Denmark sometimes.

*uses Liev Johansen for Norway, for no reason other than I like how it sounds*

Norway is normally Norge, Iceland is Fjalar, and Denmark is Knut in things I see. Ukraine is Katyusha or something similar. Rome-jii-chan I call Populus Romanus because well, that's what the country of Rome was in Latin.

Where's Australia?

Denmark was named "Matthias Kohler", but it was unofficial. I'd stick to that even if it was unofficial.

All based on roleplay and just boredom.

1. Hong Kong--my friend who roleplays him named him Henry Ng Tsun Kit.
2. Germany--My Germany calls him "Ludwig Goethe Richter," and I assume that Gilbert named him "Ludwig Goethe" but, while under his care, he used "Beilschmidt" as a surname.
3. Ukraine--the common one: Yekaterina "Katyusha" Braginskaya
4. Tibet--I'll look up names to call him! [loves doing that!]
5. Denmark--My Denmark named him "Hans Jeppeson"
6. Norway--Krinan or Kristoffer Miline(same roleplay, same roleplayer)
7. Iceland--Ragnar or Viggo(from two different roleplays)
8. Belgium--I named her Laura Van Damme. I didn't realize I had used VAN DAMME until later, though. XD
9. Netherlands--I named him Hendrik, although I'm debating on what his surname should be. I usually make it "Van Rijin," "De Keizer," or "De Vries."
10. Cameroon--I'll also work on his!
11. Seychelles--From roleplay--Andrea
12. Cuba--From roleplay "Che Céspedes"
13. Taiwan--From roleplay "Tsai Ying Xiu"
14. Roma-jii-chan--I'll also work on this one.
15. Germania--Same
16. HRE--It couldn't have been Ludwig, considering Italy may have remembered. My friend named him "Charles LeMange," so I usually call him "Charles." XD
17. Liechtenstein--Leith "Vanessa" Edelstein-Zwingli or Lili. Edelstein because, historically acurately, she should be his daughter. -Zwingli because of Vash.
18. Australia--STEVE. [shot] No, seriously, we call him "Steven "Steve" Abercrombie" in our roleplay.

Australia will always be Steve to me.

I'm writing a Roma-jii-chan fanfic right now, and I use the name "Romulus Paulus" (It means "little Romulus," in reference to the founder of Rome).

[identity profile] romanitas.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I have named Rome "Marcus Cassius Avitus."

Marcus being a very common given name of ancient Rome (praenomen), Cassius being a prominent gens/clan name (nomen), and Avitus being his family name within the gens (cognomen). Avitus, if I am remembering right, means something along the lines of "grandfatherly."

I agree.

I really haven't delved with anyone but Ukraine, and I always seem to use Yekaterina/Katya/Katyusha/etc....

Since all three are the same damn diminutive form of Katherine, I don't see why not. XD

I think the names for Scotland and Ireland are the following:

Scotland - Derek (just because an old childhood friend on mine has the same name).

Ireland - Brian (Pfft same reason. xD But the name meaning and its origin suits perfectly).

[identity profile] oriharas.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I like your name for him! I guess when I was "naming" Rome, I thought Marcus was too common xP

[identity profile] norels.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Na, in my Norway's Rp, it always finish at Norge ( even though its just Norway in norwegian ) or I think Tobias is a cute name for him!

Has for Denmark, Soren ( o with a / in ) is cute too

[identity profile] romanitas.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
That's because it is really common! But having a common given name was how names rolled back then. Romans were mostly known by their nomen or cognomen anyway.

sdfjbg but thanks! :>

hong kong's called 'kaoru' a lot because of the '香' in 香港, but that's jap, so some people just call him 'hong' instead
and taiwan, alot of people call her meimei or mei-chan (little sister in chinese)

[identity profile] oriharas.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm well aware of the fact that praenomina were very common among various families, I just thought that Rome was too special for that xD Me and my stupid logic.

You're welcome!

[identity profile] chibitalia-chan.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely. I was about to comment on that myself but you beat me to it XD

I've named all the UK sibs as follows:

Scotland: Ian
Ireland: Caoimhe (female)
Wales: Taliesin
Northern Ireland: Faolan

I also have them have all their own surnames, but hdgjs that's a personal thing, they might all share Kirkland.

Hong Kong I have seen called Michael.

Ukraine I have seen called Yekatrina.

Sweden in fics seems to be called Berwald.

And my personal name for Australia actually came from a dream I had, oddly enough. I call him Rob (well Robert, but Aussie hates being full named).

And interestingly, I don't think Rome would have had a human name, at least not into Christianity came in. I don't think the ancient nations needed them as older beliefs wouldn't have seen them as something unnatural.

The name Katyusha (or Yekaterina/Katya/etc) for Ukraine was actually lifted from the Japanese Wiki page ages ago - I remember helping [livejournal.com profile] lilichen translate it. Braginskaya is a female version of Russia's last name. :3

[identity profile] romanitas.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, okay. Sorry for rambling about something you already knew; I get carried away sometimes, especially since I'm not used to people knowing what I'm talking about. |D;;

[identity profile] tarafishes.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Berwald is Sweden's canon name, last I checked.

[identity profile] oriharas.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sweden's name is Berwald ^^;
