Confirmation of Petition

Apparently the rumors about a petition in Korea to cancel the Hetalia anime are true:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-01-13/korean-protests-call-for-hetalia-anime-cancellation

No plans to cancel it as of yet. Interestingly enough, there were never plans for Korea to be in the anime.

Ai. But I came here to check for answers because I saw a rumor. :(

Can't blame you for being concerned and wanting to double-check facts (I quite liked your detective work!); it was mostly the peanut gallery that got its haunches up and made it seem bigger, but luckily they're a receptive and open-minded one and calmed down really quickly once some of us started providing alternate sources and started debunking work. :D

and I got to polish my Korean a little hur hur

The Hetalia fandom, particularly the fans on this comm, have pleasantly surprised me by acting not like those people you mention. (Disclaimer: before we are joined with the new wave from the airing of the anime.)

If it is the case that they have jumped the gun and are telling their friends, then at some point along the line, a friend who has read the comments can redirect them to the comments on the post, debunking the alarmist talk.

Like, I think Shincaru, said. Even if it were 10,000 signatures, 6000 signatures are .12% of S. Korea's population, and the SK government is in some serious shit that whinging from that percentage (most likely right-wing) of people about a cartoon on political caricature (not even as racist as the infamous Kenkanryu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manga_Kenkanryu) manga (http://www.mangablog.net/?p=115)). I wouldn't be able to reassure you like that had Shincaru not gone over it in the comments of the first post for us. ;D

Er, damn. I mean, that whinging from that percentage... wouldn't ping on the government's radar. Sorry, forgot to complete my thought after looking up the manga in mention. XD;;

Man, let this be the first and last mention of Kenkanryu. Ugh.

Oh, and it wasn't me who brought up the number crunching (wish I thought of it, though) - it was [livejournal.com profile] kenichi_bokushi. :D

._. Word.

!!! omggg, I'm so sorry [livejournal.com profile] kenichi_bokushi! m(_ _)m Right! T_T (Thanks Shincaru.)
