Confirmation of Petition

Apparently the rumors about a petition in Korea to cancel the Hetalia anime are true:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-01-13/korean-protests-call-for-hetalia-anime-cancellation

No plans to cancel it as of yet. Interestingly enough, there were never plans for Korea to be in the anime.

The Japanese sources never claimed the petition of 10,000 signatures, and I don't think they are the same kinds of articles other than the fact that both tell that Korea is insisting that Hetalia not hit air. ^^;

Maybe someone that knows Korean should find one of those "internet" petitions and then we'd actually make sense?

But then again... it's not even going to matter...

10,000 is a shitty number... I didn't even know 10,000 people even know about this total in Korea... That does seem a bit much...

(Though apparently the printed mangas sold 500,000 copies... so I guess it's not THAT implausible... but then again, that's in Japan, where it was created...)

Especially since "those people" are supposedly against Hetalia, I don't know why they would even know about it in the first place; they obviously isn't following the manga...

The real Korean internet is too busy making lolcat-style macros of their president.

Lots involving babies grabbing his face and saying things like 'you're wasting oxygen'.

XD

Maybe I should lay off the Israel/Palestine thing for a while and move over to Korean news...

Israel/Palestine issue is depressing as hell. Korean news afterwards can provide excellent lulz, or you can just watch extremely gay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNKa56ooOQo) Korean adaptations of famous Japanese manga (how is it that the Korean movie version is more true to the manga than the Japanese TV drama). :D

Seconded on the I/P issue although I haven't followed it closely. :X

It only came out a couple months ago, so probably as soon as it pops out on DVD (the Chinese will do it for us first, I think. Their bootleggers are very reliable!).
