[fanart] countries and their dogs.

Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] darth_snuggles
Character(s): France, Germany, Italy
Rating: G
Warnings: hahaha it is my drawings, so they are not safe for eyes. Other than that, nothing!
Summary: Okay this is... kind of. Kind of really silly! It's basically what happens when you work in a dog grooming salon and you have too much time to read the AKC book.

(Also, not colored, because I don't have my photoshops. :C )

le caniche

Originally used by hunters for retrieving water fowl, the Poodle later became popular with the aristocracy and as a circus dog. The Continental clip, worn by most show poodles, is actually said to have practical use for a water dog - the shaved areas allow for smoother movement through the water, and the pompoms protect the joints from the cold (although some would point to the circus as a more likely origin for the clip). Poodles come in three sizes (standard, miniature, and toy) and are considered the second most intelligent dog breed.

der deutscher shäferhund

A relatively new breed, the German Shepherd Dog was developed to... assist shepards in Germany (hours of research!!). They were bred for strength, obedience, and most of all intelligence, ranking as the third smartest dog breed. Some would also say they are one of the most aggressive dog breeds - but such aggression is generally the result of poor training by their masters.

(Germany's dog here is named Hasselhoff.)

il mastino napoletano

The Neapolitan Mastiff's ancestors fought in the Coliseum and alongside the Roman legions. In later years, they were used primarily as guard dogs, bred so that their looks alone would be enough to deter intruders. Like most Italians, they are extremely devoted to their families and enjoy frequent naps.

(I, um, very badly want to draw Canada with a Labrador Retriever.)

So I'm thinking Japan with Akita next? I sort of wanna see the rest of the countries with their respective dogs. Who shall get the siberean husky?

Aren't Siberian huskies from Russia, initially?

[identity profile] drunensis.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
They do. Can't process info. Holiday brain shutdown had already commenced.

[identity profile] thisistony.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 07:04 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] drunensis.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
That'll probably work better.

[identity profile] hey-mayonegg.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I was thinking.

[identity profile] degrees.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 08:14 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] mithrigil.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 07:00 am (UTC)(link)

Oh my god, I love the German Shepherd. It's one of my favorite breeds, along with the Siberian Husky, Welsh Corgi, and Norwegian Elkhound. ♥

[identity profile] pallasathene87.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
...that first picture totally reminds me of a scene from 101 Dalmatians (I think!) Only the snooty owner of the snooty poodle was a woman. GG Francis.

This is wonderful though~ Plz do more.

[identity profile] sapphire-pyro.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
hetalia + dogs = FTW!

[identity profile] synzunea.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
FRANCE LOOKS AWESOME. Oh, and German Shepherds. I have one at home and I'm... afraid of her. Wow.

I'm more of a cat person.

[identity profile] blankoo.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
I <333 your style~ Especially the way you drew France <3 Good job.

[identity profile] clefairies.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, I'd suggest you Shiba-inu for Japan.
I personally think one with a cream undercoat would match Kiku quite well.

And I absolutely adore German Shepherds, I'd love to have one. ♡

[identity profile] kurifurinkan.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh-oh my god. DOGS LOOKING LIKE THEIR OWNERS 100%. ♥ Ahaha I have two German Shepherds what am I saying about myself here orz

So cute!!! This was an excellent idea and you are doing it great!

[identity profile] hey-mayonegg.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I just keep picturing England with a Welsh Corgi.

Though this is probably because I am gay for corgis. So cute. ;3;

[identity profile] kyo-starr.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
D'awww, German shepherd ♥ That was our first family dog, she constantly tried to herd us as kids :B
Hehee, I love the Mastiff.
Nice work!

[identity profile] ermineax.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The French one o.0 Cannot. Stop. Giggling xD These are awesome x3 The Neo in particular is absolutely adorable <3

Although, the poodle is actually from Germany, but is recognised as French because they were the ones to split it into different sizes, or something along those lines :P Which means that deep down, under all that glamour and p00fyness, is a very serious dog. No, really D=

In England, it was illegal for quite a while for anyone except the snooty upper class to own a Greyhound, hurhur. Later on, the Bull Terrier {when they had only slightly sloped heads xD} became known as a 'gentleman's pet'. Not thinking of anyone in particular here >>

[identity profile] probing-grays.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww, so cute. I love the descriptions, too. xD Hours of research on that German shepherd one, eh?

[identity profile] sakou-bielefelt.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome pics ^__^I love German Shepherds !! :D *rofl @ Hasselhoff* XD

oh yeah, you should totally draw Canada-tan with his dog :D Lab sounds good but, what about a Canadian Eskimo (ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Eskimo_Dog) ?

Just a thought :P

[identity profile] kawaiihoto.livejournal.com 2008-12-24 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Great idea! I'm quite a dog person myself [I currently own 4 dogs ^^]

A scottish terrier for UK [eventhough they are scottish, they appear in a lot of british merchandise]. Could also be an English shepherd.

Chinese Crested for China, the ugly-ass dog XD

I'm thinking Golden Retriever for America, since they are popular, dumb and loveable, since Paris Hilton's 'rat' is a Chihuahua, native to the region of Chihuahua in northern Mexico.

[identity profile] sangogrl41.livejournal.com 2008-12-24 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Why not for China have the Chow-Chow cause there big ball of Fluff Fluff and he would love them!
