Thoughts, comments, complaints(?)

This totally isn't my first posting to a community, no way.

Couldn't have said it better. When I saw the announcement one of the first things I thought was "Damn, there goes our intellectual, wank-free fandom..." I'm not looking forward to potentially inviting that "omg uke uke~" crowd into our nerdy history loving one, which has probably been the best fandom I've ever been a part of. :'D Hetalia is pretty slashable, yeah, but I think a good majority of us can agree that what got us here was "Oh, pretty character designs... O-OMG THOSE ARE COUNTRIES? HELL YES HISTORY TIEMS. :9" and even those who might have started for the ghei generally admit that the other parts of the series are what really make it. I love that I can come to this community and learn things as well as being entertained, and honestly, I would hate nothing more than to see beautifully written and researched fics on the American Revolution or the Rainiai Massacre replaced with mindless smut. :[

I'm quite afraid of this particular fansub group, being one that caters to a yaoi-crowd, may take a lot of artistic license with the subbing as well...

Hmm. Very, very well said.
Additionally, I like the fact that you pointed out the wank.
I've been in a couple of fandoms before that have been rife with it, and I'm sick of it. It's what I have come to appreciate about Hetalia. The second someone starts going 'AxB is better than AxC' you can just throw a text book at them and say 'Not according to the 100 years war when they were allies.'
The intelligence of this fandom, as well as the fact that it draws a crowd who can laugh at themselves (since it is such a controversial series as far as stereotyping and such goes) means that it's all very good natured and open-minded. No one hates Hungary because she's a WOMAN. There are no silly insult-matches.

In my rambly way, I'm agreeing wholeheartedly with you. ♥

Your last point though is also a very good one.

sdkfj TYPO GRR. "THAT this fansub group," not "OF this fansub group." @_@ lmao I'm not afraid of them.
