A (few) small question(s)...

Ok, this isn't exactly Hetalia related, so mods, if you feel it's innapropriate, please delete ^^;

I'm just wondering what Himaruya's other comics are about and, maybe, if they also have manga? It seems Hetalia's obviously his priority now, but I'm curious about his work (I can't help it, the art is so adorable!). And any info on him? I've picked a few things from some posts - that he's male, that he lives in america - but I don't know if I'm confusing everything. I'm unable to understand his blog, but I love to know more about the creators of the series I adore, so if anyone has any information, would it be ok to share?

Fellow Hetalia fan,
You must never abandon your curiosity. Your curiosity is like a beautiful flower: it is a fertile structure of any plant of the Magnoliophyta family which holds the purpose of mixing male sperm with female ovum in order to produce seeds-- but it is also a beautiful thing, never to be neglected, though important to keep trimmed.

For now, considering you are asking information on the creator of Hetalia, I'm going to let this post fly. Since you asked politely, someone is sure to come to your aid. Next time, however, if you're not 100% sure if a post is permitted, send a private note to [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima or [livejournal.com profile] mumumugen and we'll get on it.

Make this a Hidekazu Himaruya discussion/q&a post. I'm sure people has their share of questions about him.

I vanish back into the night now.

I have to tell you that I love how you post mod notes.

This will be the last Tuxedo Mask styled one for a while, however.
I have to keep things original and fresh.

Awww. Well I look forward to the new style :D

Wait, I'm confused. (I'm a Lurker not a Poster. I haven't caught up on the scanlations yet.) So, Original Characters go to nationslash, and scanlations, fanart, icons, and fanfics, are currently on topic and appropriate here until there's a comm related to it, but asking about the creator is not relevant to this community?

(I've been in some strict comms before, so I'm just wondering what's okay here.)

Well, the rules on the profile page more or less tell you what you need to know. As a rule of thumb, things have to be in *some* way related to the official Hetalia comic. Original characters, historical discussion, and anything that does not *directly* hint to Hetalia goes to Nationslash on the reasoning that you could have had any of those without Hetalia ever existing. Anthropomorphic depictions of countries have been around for a while after all.

It's similar to why you can't post original gundam-like designs on a Gundam 00 community. Sure, it's the same genre, but not the same thing.

I'm thinking of it this way: there have been posts asking/discussing things posted on Hidekazu Himaruya's blog. It'd be kind of arbitrary to deny discussing Himaruya, proper.

I hope that answers your questions. ^^

All I know is that he's good-looking, he lives in NY, and he loves bunnies and cute things xD

[identity profile] sapphire-pyro.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
he's good-looking<--- his picture, where can I find it please? xD

That's not him. That's Namikawa Daisuke, who voices Feliciano.

[identity profile] synzunea.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
REALLY? HAHAHA. NO. REALLY. SERIOUSLY?

Oh that's nice to know.

[identity profile] neko-jacqui.livejournal.com 2008-11-25 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know anything about his other works (although I agree, his art is adorable), but your question got me curious, so I went to see if his site had any sort of "about the mangaka" section, and there is a small one. Unfortunately, my Japanese is still at an intermediate level, so aside from his being male and living in New York, all I could gather is that he likes cats and rabbits. Also, it seems that his age is 23? If that's the case, he's only one year older than me!

So yeah, sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I guess I'll just wait alongside you for information from the more knowledgeable community members. ^_^

[identity profile] picnicbird.livejournal.com 2008-11-25 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
So as not to make this whole 'where he lives' thing open to creepiness, I'll throw out that the living in NY thing seems to be quite temporary.

THOSE CRAZY AMERICAN FANS, BOYITELLYOU.

[identity profile] cavechan.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
I still say he needs to do a booksigning at NY Kinokuniya. Hey, if Kodaka Kazuma could do it!

[identity profile] picnicbird.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
CONSIDERING I GO THERE LIKE ONCE A WEEK I have to agree, but I wouldn't want to alarm him. XD

[identity profile] evercool.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Dude that makes him a year younger than me. *Feels unproductive now* *A*!!!

Hidekazu Info

[identity profile] iybankun.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The other day I went searching for info about him. (I just wanted a picture) and I've been to his website, etc., and this is what I've gotten:

His Name is Hidekazu Himaruya. He's a 24-year-old male living in New York temporarily as a mangaka and art student, borne in the year of 1985. Other dates are unknown. He lives by himself. He's obsessed with cats and bunnies, and tends to get a little over-excited when he sees his own art and merchandise on the internet, in his hands, sold, etc. His health condition isn't that great at the moment, (THIS NEXT BIT OF INFORMATION IS UNSURE, DIREGARD IT) and it's either a friend of his, or himself, who has recently gone through relapse.

Yeeeeep.

Is this unhealthy? *continues to gather information. . .*

Oh, and at one point in his blog he says "Oh yea hawt voice Estonia"

On his home page, there are links to two other series that he at least does the art for.

http://www.geocities.jp/himaruya/bal.htm
http://www.geocities.jp/himaruya/kitakou.htm

I don't know what they're about. Maybe someone who can read Japanese does though.

On a semi-related note, I'm seeing some similar character designs in the other series. I spy crossover/inter-continuity crack in the future.

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's already there, you know. Just not in the comics.

IIRC Noto-sama cracked out with Prussia and Hungary in one of his games.

[identity profile] rainy-takako.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hosnaps, seriously? Maybe I should play his other games then.

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think it was Noto-sama No. 5? I haven't played it because I haven't read Kitako Housoubu, mind, but if everything I've seen around is right, Noto-sama has a DIRTY mind.

[identity profile] aria34.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Wow I really want to read these.

Especially for Mr. Cutie who is totally not UK over here~
http://www.geocities.jp/himaruya/b_chara2.html

[identity profile] xp-tan.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
So it is someone different! I end up on that page randomly sometimes when I'm clicking around without my translator on and get confused if that's UK or not. I keep thinking the one standing next to him in the background picture is Russia too XD

[identity profile] aria34.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
^^; So did I. I was thinking "Is this some type of spin off AU Hetalia or something?!"

[identity profile] sapphire-pyro.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
he had caught my attention while I was chacking out the characters fo the author's other manga xD

I wonder if he's based on England or England's based on him xD but oh well, they're only alike physically. They don't seem to have the same personality AT ALL xD So yes, totally not Uk over there xD haha

[identity profile] aria34.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
He probably does have England's personality. He has his eyebrows, so why not?

[identity profile] itachinyu.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
...honestly I forget this guy is...well, a guy, so many times. Hetalis is just so rampantly GAY that I wouldnt have expected a man to draw it. xDD

[identity profile] hai-kara.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
This is actually the first time I realized he is a guy.. :,D
I can never see the Hetalia comics the same way I did before..

[identity profile] synzunea.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
LOL I know right? The first time I came across hetalia, I assumed that it was a girl. And then I found that info page. I couldn't believe my eyes when it said male.

I read it over and over again. My mind just kept screaming,
WHAT.
WHAT.
WHAT.
WHAT.
LOLNOWAY.

But oh, yes way D:

[identity profile] itachinyu.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
...so the question everyone is dying to ask: IS HE GAY?

[identity profile] lecumedesjour-s.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
...Nobody knows about it yet, but Himaruya called himself "Fu-Danshi"(boy who love boyslove, it's not relate to he is gay or not).
And he said "My first reason to make my homepage was...want to draw boys in shortpants." lol

[identity profile] fabulous-chan.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
XDDD now I love him even more!

[identity profile] aria34.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The number one thing that Fujoushi love (other than BL) are Fudanshi.
Perfect word. I think I will use it from now on.

seriously, short pants? He's a fujoshi's dream.

[identity profile] noelrain.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
LOL so true! would be even COOLER if her's gay, but if not, that's ok too^^ We adore fudanshi^^

[identity profile] lecumedesjour-s.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Himaruya's open profiles are here~↓

He was born and brought up in Fukushima prefecture in japan. He was a member of the broadcasting club at jr. high and high school. He has ever sent "Kitako-housoubu(Kita High School Broadcasting Club)" series to Akatsuka-prize at magazine shonen Jump when he was a high school student, and survived to last selection though couldn't get any prize.
(Akatsuka Prize is for comedy or gag comics)
Now he is 23 and goes to Person's Art school in NY.

His other famous comic series are "Kitako Housoubu" and "Barjona Bombers". Both series are comedy comic of broadcasting club at highschool.
(Both stories are crossovered)
Hetalia is his third work of webcomics.
He said "When I was try to read english about world history to study english, I read many funny episodes about Italian Army. Also I've ever read some episode on website"."Hetaia" is not his original idea, this word from some Japanese sites about world millitary and WW2. This word, hetare+Italy was already famous among Japanese millitary fans.

Also Himaruya is famous for his original games. One of his great work is "Noto-sama" series...it's novel& quiz game to ...take off boys's clothes and tease or put them a shame or make sexual(ahemahem)trick@@
Noto Sama is another persona of Noto Kanazawa...original Noto is shy, tender and cute boy. But sometime his opressive another persona is appeared, called Noto-Sama. He is in girl's outfit with ponytail wig, and very sadistic though very sweet to his "dog" Sunki Udono. Many characters in Himaruya world fallen victim as Noto-sama's trap...at the latest series 5, Purussia was a victim of his trick.
(It was alternative school universe "School Hetalia", and Prussia was catched when he tried to sneak Hungary was changing her clothes at school^^;)

It's impossible to DL any series now, because re-making versions of them are under construction.
I heard he was planned to make "School Hetalia" game past, but I dunno it become true...because he suddenly became busy lately.
(He had ever presented preview version...main character was Sayshell and the president of the student council was ENgland , also vice president was France)

If this comment is little bit offtopic, I removed it to somewhere...

[identity profile] blueberry-chan.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Um, an image of Noto KANAZAWA, best friend of a ninja-ish = http://www.geocities.jp/himaruya/kitakou.htm

(I think their the same person...)

He's the guy with the green eyes and brown hair and looks suspiciously like Liet...

[identity profile] noelrain.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
OMG I'm in LOVE with this guy!
