[scanlations] After Tannenburg

Does anyone remember a looooooong time ago, I posted the scanlations of The Polish-Swedish War? Well, Himaruya-san actually drew the continuation of it recently, called...

After that incident, the Knights of the Teutonic Order retreated to Malbork Castle, but the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth surrounded them and laid siege to the castle.

â– Spirit of the Farmersâ–

And thus was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Translations done by [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima, editing done by [livejournal.com profile] konkira, thank you!

Also, I edited my previous scanlations post. I forgot a few images/translations in there. Sorry.

What a (bad) sense of organisation XD

I've visited the Malbork castle some years ago, it was really cool ^^

It's surprisingly interesting to read about your own history in a different lighting for some reason.

[identity profile] kronos-quartet.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
yes, and especially when Liet here in "Hetalia" is such an unbelieveably nice and poor guy xD I was surprised how much place Toris got in these series since we even sell T-shirts with writings "I love Lithuania! ...but where is it?...". Though I still shudder looking at lietXrus pairing.. xD

"And we totally have to pick mushrooms too!"

I really, really liked this line for some reason... XDDDD

[identity profile] darjur.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Picking mushrooms in the forest is one of the most usual hobbies for the older generations around here.

did this really happen?? as in, they retreated because they had to harvest crops?!

[identity profile] darjur.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Marienburg_(1410)

News of Teutonic reinforcements from the West and relief troops from Livonia prompted the Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas to withdraw from hostilities. It became clear to the remaining Poles that the siege would not be effective as the nobility from Lesser Poland also wanted to end the war before the harvest, and the siege was eventually lifted on 19 September.

Looks like it's half of the truth.

Wow, it's showing the way how polish nobility was treating lithuanian peasants in an interesting way.

Thanks!

I swear, for a long time I thought only I saw Poland in my specific way and then people told me it's pretty much the same he is in Hetalia. Hm. And how not to love this country? xDDDDD

[identity profile] chocoriderix.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, Poland and Lithuania, you RAWK. Enough of this silly war business! Get home in time for harvest or we all starve! THAT'S prioritizing!

[identity profile] yuutousei.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I incorporated this into one of the essays I had to write for AP testing this year... I hope it helped xD

[identity profile] picaq.livejournal.com 2009-06-01 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Erm, AP testing is a serious exam... (and it costs $86 each in the U.S..... yuck)
Although I did use these comics for studying for my history final.. :D

[identity profile] picaq.livejournal.com 2009-06-01 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, now I really think that Poland and Switzerland should be girls; it really fits their personality.

Eh, apparently they're supposed to be like that. China too. Gender-neutral characters.

But the Christmas strips are proof. They're guys.
