[Fanart] Russia/China & Sunflowers + Sketch Dump

No crack this time, alas. Just a bunch of messy sketches and a colored piece. All work safe!

Honestly, I'm not quite sure why this pairing intrigues me so much.... though there are Russia's friendly overtures with China, and China occasionally being all "... YOU'RE SUSPICIOUS." Unfortunately, the vodka bottle had to be sacrificed in the colored version (it was there in the original sketch...) Full-size and extended artist notes available on DevArt.

The rest of these were all doodled on the back of class handouts/lecture slide printouts. Which should explain the random text-shadows if any? :D;;


First attempt at China...


I blame Red Cliff for throwing me back into a Dynastic Period mood. Completely BS-ed the costume the proportions everything, as always. Somehow spilled coffee on him too. OTL


Never realized that he was wearing a woman's hanbok 'til I had to google image it for reference. And I still got it wrong lolol.

Figured I should branch out of the Asian countries (and Russia), and give America a go... didn't mean for it to be all angsty/emo, but the economic crisis is all that really comes to mind lately when thinking of "USA" lately h-hahaha...

I don't really use that coloring technique enough, but Russia/China seemed perfect for it and vice versa. Thank you~~♥

The Russia/China pairing is so great. Stupid, sexy communists. Red Cliff was a very pretty movie, but am I the only one who didn't really like it? *shot* The whole time we were watching it my cousins were going, "TONY LEUNG/TAKESHI KANESHIRO IS SO PRETTY" and I was going, "WHY IS THERE SO MUCH VIOLENCE AAAH" orz

XD; I liked Red Cliff mostly for Zhuge Liang (was pleasantly surprised with Kaneshiro's portrayal), the nod towards Zhou Yu (man finally gets the recognition he deserves), and the military tactics/formations/etc because I'm a military history geek of sorts. On the other hand I can see how some people wouldn't like it for being too violent... I always appreciate the rampant death as a nod towards the realism of war though.
