[scanlation] Chibitalia and Holy Roman Empire playing in the river

First time posting here, and I'm really nervous. Anyway, I'm starting to love Chibitalia more and more, so I decided to scanlate this strip myself. It's Chibitalia and Holy Roman Empire playing in the river and, well.
EDIT HRE (everyone, really) thinks that Chibitalia is a girl, so I had to make a teensy edit. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] picnicbird for pointing this out.

Original strip here. I'm... not so confident with my Japanese sometimes, so please correct me if you find any mistakes/can fix my awkward awkward diction, thank you. :D;

Long answer? Nope! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Roman_Empire)

There's a pretty well-known quote that goes: "The Holy Roman Empire is neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire."

XD Ah. Okay. I just thought it would be like that since HRE disappeared and then out came Germany.

XD So complicated, ehhh.

You're basically right, but it's a little more complicated.
The core of the HRE (800-1806) was where Germany is today.
In 1806 Napoleon conquered the HRE. The HRE was then split, and part of it formed the Confederation of the Rhine,
which was under Napoleon's rule.
Until 1871, Germany wasn't really a country, but a lot of small states which at times formed alliances or confederations.
By 1871, most people were fed up with the political instability, and the German Empire was founded.
The German Empire however, fell apart at the end of WW1, and after a revolution, the Weimar Republic, a liberal democracy, was established.
(This democracy was so liberal it could abolish itself.)

During the great depression, Germany was impoverished and most people wanted a new government that could bring back Germany's former glory. Extremist left-wing and right-wing parties benefited from this, and in 1933 Adolf Hitler was named chancellor (Reichskanzler).
Hitler and his party disposed of anything that separated them from absolute power (the left-wing parties, dissidents, certain laws, etc.) and legally (!) built a dictatorship.
You know the rest of the story.

After the end of WWII, Germany was indeed divided.
The western part (BRD) was a democracy under strong American influence,
and the eastern part (DDR) was a communist country, that was more or less ruled by Russia.
In 1989, the two countries were united.

So yeah, HRE -------------> Germany

Between 1933 and 1945, people did indeed think of Germany as a reincarnation of the HRE.
Nazi Germany is often referred to as Third Reich, which means third empire.
The HRE was regarded as the first empire, and the German Empire the second.

Prussia is actually a region east of modern Germany, which was occasionally part of whatever Germany called itself at the time.

Wah! Thank you for taking your time in explaining it to someone as unworth as me! *bows*!!!

O: < Now I know a lot more about HRE and Germany. Ah, I shall take this information to my grave. I'm convinced now that people can call HRE, Germany.

Thank you again! *salutes*

That's... so cute! You mean that HRE was in love with Italia, died, was reborn and came back as Germany?! Tru luv, man, tru luv. Germany x Italy = OTP.

And I think I'm learning more history by reading Hetalia and all these comments that I ever did in school. Sad, but fun.

HRE is not Germany's grandpa ^^;
But many peaple thinks Germany is a reincarnation of HRE.
(Though episode after collapse of HRE was vague yet...)
BTW, melody of national anthem of Germany is same as HRE's anthem.

Prussia and Germany are seemed to be brothers from author's note....in Hetalia world.

Prussia was one of the more powerful states that comprised the various German federations, and more often than not, had control over the whole thing. (Otto von Bismarck was a Prussian, as was Kaiser Wilhelm.)
