[fanarts] Doodle dumps!

Aaah, so, my job consists of me teaching a bunch of half-braindead teenagers, and then sitting at my desk for a long, LONG period of time, of which I mostly spend doodling.

So, here's a bit of a doodle dump! Lots of doodles!

Title: Doodle dump
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Will be listed before each cut
Rating: G to R-15
Warnings: EXTREMELY IMAGE HEAVY
Summary: Wow, was I ...wow.

America (PG-13/weapon)

I drew this while thinking of the song "Red Faction" by MELL. Good song, seems to suit an over-zealous psycho America.

America (PG-13/skin, suggestive pose)

I...I just wanted to... XD; cowboy hats are hard to draw, yo.

Turkey (G)

There's just something that seems to be...off...about his shoulders. Arggh.

UK (PG/obscene hand gesture)

I drew this after having a really bad start to a Monday. Why is this an obscene hand gesture? According to a British friend (whose mother was, surprisingly, French), it's because during the wars between England and France, the English were using bows while the French used crossbows. Still, the English had an upper hand (is what he said), and when the French captured Englishmen, they would cut off the archers' index and middle fingers so that they cannot draw back the bowstring anymore.

Thus, when the two sides faced each other off before battle, the English archers would hold up their two fingers like this to signify: "We still have our two fingers, and we're gonna KILL YOU."

China (G)

He doesn't walk, he saunters. Or glides.

I wanted to try and give Nii Nii a more Asian-looking face, and made his eyes more almond-shaped, and with heavier lids. He looks like he has huge hips, though. But then again, I always imagine the older nations to be slightly more androgynous.

Germany (PG)

SPRING TIME FOR HITLER AND GERMANYYYYYYY~~

I have no excuse. [livejournal.com profile] mumumugen showed me this video and I immediately thought "OH DEAR GOD GERMANY." After this, I went off and bought a reference book for uniforms.

Taiwan and Hong Kong (PG-13/some disturbing imagery)

In Mandarin, male-female fraternal twins are called "Dragon-Phoenix Born (Fetuses)." The dragon is the boy, the phoenix the girl. Legend is that the twins were lovers who could not be together in their past life and were thus born together in a womb in this life to be together.

Bound Feet
These two pics are two sets to a whole, though in the case of Taiwan, it is slightly scarier because women before 1920s China (and Chinese colonies) were considered ugly unless they had bound feet (the most beautiful being three inches in length). And Hong Kong...well, that's just my fetish.

I just wanted to draw them in modern clothing. HK looks stoned, though.

Taiwan and Hong Kong, on their way home from Tokyo Disney Sea, on the commuter train.

"How d'you like me now?!"

Bonus! Hong Kong!

Girl: Youko...
Me: Yes?
Girl: ...is he...not wearing pants...?
Me: PANTS? WHAT ARE THOSE? OPTIONAL THINGS?? CAN YOU EAT THEM??

Mediterranean Family (G)

Turkey: What IS that kid's major malfunction?!
Egypt: ...you?
Greece: Death to Turkey...

Going to the market. Slow down, Egypt!

The family. I just wanted to show how GAR Turkey is.

Last, but not least...Russia...Russia...Russia. (PG)

Russia, in front of St. Basil's Cathedral, which sadly a lot of people think is The Kremlin. I'm very bad with backgrounds... If you have looked up to this point, is reading this, and can guess the reference to the dog in his arm, POINTS TO YOU.

Russia with a hamster. Cuz ...Russia dwarf hamsters. I is lame.

And now he bids you goodbye.

Thanks for looking! Whew.

I should really ink and colour some of these...just not sure which one...

Oh, wow, gorgeous drawings~.

...I cannot tell you how hard I loled at Germany. And I loved China (and your gliding sound effects xD)

fkgfjgkfj I might color these just for fun in my spare time wait what spare time but I doubt I'll post em anywhere, unless you'd like to see them of course.

[identity profile] hellabrows.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
MAN you are so fucking awesome. I mean WOAH.

I really like all of 'em ('specially the US ones and the 'hand gesture' thing, hurhur), but the 'Producers' thing killed me. Dead. I shouldn't be laughing this hard at 5:00 AM.

Matter of fact, I shouldn't be commenting art at 5:00 either, but dammit I guess I am aren't I?

[identity profile] gomimushi.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
:'O OH MY GOD. They're all *amazing*. :'DDD

I LOVE THE ONE OF UK. BECAUSE OH GOD OH GOD IT'S SO IN CHARACTER. :'D FLIP 'EM ALL OFF, UK. \o\ /o/ \o/ OTL ... His face is amazing. :'DDD s..sometimes people don't realize that it's a rude gesture. Dx'' there was a newspaper in Singapore that published a picture of someone unintentionally doing that ON THE COVER while I was there, and I nearly died laughing Dx.

Chibi Greece wishing death to Turkey is ADORABLE (GAR TURKEY IS GAR), and woa, Egypt is so elegant. Hong Kong and Taiwan are both gorgeous, i love that set. *_* America looks amazing as a cowboy... and let me giggle for an obscenely long time at Germany.

That video melted my brain though.

... is your icon John Barrowman? D: I can't unsee it

[identity profile] jali-jali.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! These pics are so good! @_@
I can't take my eyes of psycho!Alfred and sexy!China nice hip there, China! ;Dthough I want to buy some uniform references too! It's quite rare in my place -_-;;
Btw strong!Taiwan is an interesting concept, she looks so beautiful there ;D

Man, I like the way you pencil sketch these, mine usually look scratchy and untidy T_T have to practice more on that.

[identity profile] zephyr-design.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I LOVE YOU AND YOUR ART.

Seriously, there are no words to express my love. First all your drawings are more than beautiful, second not only you have a pretty art, your concepts and poses are amazing, third you draw characters I really like~? I'm so biased.

I can't decide my favorites, but I definitely have much love for psycho!America, Russia, and Mediterranean family - I lol hard at "What's this kid's malfunction?" "You?" - gosh, you gotta love them.

Also, John Barrowman = Germany y/y? I'M DED. DED.

Bt I've heard an diferent explanation for that obscene hand gesture UK is making... It has to do with cows and sticking your fingers in innapropriate cow places.
I like your explanation better XP

[identity profile] callalady.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Very nice! You have a beautiful art style.
All of these were great. My favorites are definitely the two pictures of US, the picture of UK and the family picture of Turkey with his mask on, Egypt and Greece.

Oh and if you haven't, you should definitely see the whole movie of The Produces. Mel Brooks is one of the funniest writer/director/sometimes actor.

[identity profile] holy-shpootnik.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
And also one of the best at making screeching alley cat noises. Most all of them in his movies are actually done by him off set during the acting. XD

[identity profile] holy-shpootnik.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
If I were to list all the things that I love about these batch of drawings, my hands would fall off from all the typing.
Needless to say, I'm really really really really really really liking that picture of Turkey holding Egypt and Greece. SO CUTE!!! <3333 And also pretty much anything else with those three.

And gun-toting Alfred is hoooot~!

[identity profile] fightfair.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
WAAAAH HONG KONG. ♥

:< NO Taiwan don't do it the bound feet nooooooo.

Also, I've never seen Turkey before this and you definitely got his GARRRRRR across. It's endearing.

[identity profile] starshards.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Fantastic art, dear. Such a treat!

And I can confirm the hand gesture thing.
It's because our greatest weapon was our longbow men who had huge range and power. We'd take any old peasant if they were strong enough to draw the bow, and as such we slaughtered vast amounts of Frenchmen. Hence why the French detested them.
And it's not just bias.

It's trufax: The Battle of Agincourt was an English victory against a larger French army in the Hundred Years' War. The battle occurred on Friday 25 October 1415, in northern France. Henry V's victory started a new period in the war, in which he came very close to capturing the throne of France for himself and his heirs.

The battle is notable for the use of the English longbow, which Henry used in very large numbers, with longbowmen forming the vast majority of his army.

It makes me so happy to see these things drawn. *___*

So THANK YOU SO MUCH.
