[Blog Updates] "Ahem!" and "News"

Original Post 1 | Original Post 2
Himaruya updated his blog twice in quick succession so I thought for simplicity's sake I should include both in one post.

I'll post translations when they're available. Translations by hikari_kaitou and lost_hitsu

Ahem!

[T/N: that would be the infamous Trabant, I think.]

Athena-san

[T/N: Athena Asamiya is a character from the King of Fighters game.]

News

I've been asked to draw an illustration for the planned 40 year anniversary tribute to Black Jack which will be titled Pinoko Tribute Acchonburike! and is scheduled to appear in Princess's November 2013 issue!

Just the name Black Jack brings to mind a very cool sort of character, so I'm glad I know that he's actually a charming and very human-like character who is frail because of his weak stomach, still goes to his elementary school class reunions, suddenly flies into a rage whenever his face or his mother are insulted, and can be overwhelmed by Pinoko. It seems like various things have been planned in honor of Black Jack's 40th anniversary.

What an angel

Just want to add that the girl in the first link is Asamiya Athena (http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/Athena_Asamiya) from the fighting game series "The King of Fighters" I love this game sososososo much I screamed when I saw that aaahhh

(I was in doubt about what was her outfit since she changes it in each game but then I saw the filename is "atena95" so yeah, it's from KOF 95 lol)

Thanks for posting! Here is my translation.
えっへん= Ahem!
Prussia: Pretty sweet, huh? See, even I've got a car now!
*Ahem*
Car: Paper
Caption: After the German unification, the two of them decided to start living together right away. Upon seeing how his older brother showed up wearing a coat he had owned for who knows how many years, with very few other belongings, bragging about his beloved car which was in fact made out of paper, Germany felt strangely guilty for coming to meet him wearing a brand new suit.

Caption under the girl: Athena-san

Thank you so much for your translation! I think it's adorable that Germany and Prussia wanted to live together immediately after reunification.

Ah! Just on a little note - since the whole paper car thing could be a bit misleading or confusing???
But here's a bit of into from one of my German friends ;)
It's joked and/or infamoulsy known (and inaccurately reported) that Trabants are made from cardboard! Though the confusing/misinformation may come from that they were made of Duroplast: which is a plastic made from recycled materials such as cotton waste from the Soviet Union or phenol resins form the East German dye industry. And they were also nicknamed "Rennpappe" which means running/racing cardboard.
So that could be what is meant by paper car?

Anyways, thank you so much for the translation!
It was bugging me that I couldn't make out all the characters for a rough translation;;;

I see! I was wondering about that, but kinda figured maybe it was just Hima being random again. That's interesting, thanks for the info :)

Oh my God! Himaruya is going to draw an illustration for Black Jack?! I just love that series! I could not wait to see his result.

[/HAPPY SHRIEKING]

Oh wow, this is awesome! (I'm more excited about this than the sketches, even)

...Prussia drives a Trabant. I knew it! XD

If anyone is interested, there's a list of Trabant jokes here (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GermanHumour).

Also, does this confirm that Prussia took on the role of East Germany after WWII? I know that's a popular theory, but I can't remember seeing anything in the canon material about it.

[identity profile] disneyotaku.livejournal.com 2013-10-08 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
As far as I know, there really isn't anything confirming Prussia becoming East Germany besides the fact that he represents what used to be East Germany. It is confirmed that post-WWII Prussia "worked" for Russia, but that's really it.

Good point.

Ahhh this is so great! The Prussia and Germany strip is priceless :) Thank you for posting + translating

Ahh, a new pic of Germany and Prussia! <333

Thank you for the post and translations!

Thank you for the posts and everyone who translated, too. :)

Hell, yeah!

Ein Trabbi!! ♥ *German native speaker*

Hima-papa's got the best ideas. I think he'd drawn that due to the "Tag der Deutschen Einheit" which is our national day on 3rd October.
*happy*

[identity profile] disneyotaku.livejournal.com 2013-10-08 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
AHHHH!!

Prussia and Germany! We don't have much information on what happens post-WWII in the series in canon and this is awesome and I love it and I'm terribly sad now because Prussia had little possessions with him, a really old and battered coat, and a trabant (the only car I can see him using during those times; I've heard many stories about these cars). And the look he gives Germany, he's not smirking or mad or anything, he looks so content just being there and with Germany (who's feeling upset over wearing nice clothes), and they wanted to move in together as soon as possible after the unification and UGHHHH FEELS

Thank you so very much for the translations!

[identity profile] sne-stjerne.livejournal.com 2013-10-09 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I know. ;o;

[identity profile] sotnosen93.livejournal.com 2013-10-09 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if I want to laugh or hug Prussia XD

And since no-one else has remarked on it: Damn, France(?), even in sketch form, you look good in those clothes!

[identity profile] pookie-mookie94.livejournal.com 2013-10-09 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh these updates are killing me.
Hima you beautiful, beautiful man.

And Prussia you poor, wonderful dear. (and is this the first actual canon piece for Prussia being East Germany?)

[identity profile] pink-cass.livejournal.com 2013-10-14 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
The post with the mochis got two more pictures of them lightninged into it at some point, did you notice?

[identity profile] onacrystal.livejournal.com 2013-10-16 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Some translation error:

The original text doesn't say "Prussia"; it only refers to Gilbert as "older brother". I think it is very misleading to use Prussia in the translation.

To me, this confirms Gilbert switching as East Germany because
1) Prussia no longer exists in 1947,
and if you know early East German history,
2) Russia hated Prussia so badly that they got numerous measures to get rid of Prussian presence in East Germany.

Also, East Germany technically worked for Russia so it should all work out.

Strange...somewhere in the Ninja updates, Himaruya added this:
